Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Lol no they don’t. They are where they are for a reason.
Yeah dominating and a big part of the reason their respective teams win most of the games they play in, while our blokes continue to get lapped by 20+ every week and promote them all to NRL when we get injuries and suspensions.
So that makes sense, let’s just stick with the bunch of losers we have.
You know what they say about continuing to do the same thing that fails over and over again ?

You’re talking about reserve grade right? 😅

So they don’t improve our top 30 ?
For players who would only be on the bare minimum contracts, they would both add valuable depth and genuine competition for NRL positions, something we don’t currently have.
I will say it again in case you didn’t hear the first time, any decent NRL team needs genuine competition for NRL positions and when injuries occur, need to be promoting players that are dominating at NSW Cuo level, not just throwing anybody in the side to make up the numbers.
We have too many fringe players already. Start adding players with NRL experience who aren’t already cooked then you’re talking.

This thread sinks lower and lower every day. Now we think a 27 year old reserve grade fullback with zero NRL games is better than Bula.

There is a reason why these guys are in NSW Cup.

I saw a Facebook post today suggesting we should have Jimmy Ngutlik (who is currently playing 2 grades below NSW Cup) on the wing in first grade.

There is desperation and hysterics everywhere at the moment.
This forum is a step up from facebook. That is not the place for moderate, rationale opinions.

If you look close enough there is barely any regular NRL players left to be signed for next season.
Then we wait until someone becomes available, we have like 1 top 30 spot free unless more players are moved on and that’s excluding Matamua, Alaimalo and Sione Fainu who are currently unsigned for next year.

I wouldn’t want to waste that spot on more reserve grade players.

I believe Matamua is under contract for next season ?
Sione Fainu is a must re-signing, he’s shown he’s an aggressive big body that has made a big improvement to his stamina and agility and we simply cannot afford to lose him.
Alaimalo is improving, but we’d need to see even more improvement before locking him in for next season. When you state reserve graders are no good to us, Jeral Skelton would appear to be a younger, faster and better version of Alaimalo.

Matamua is signed for next year.

There’s 26 signed for next year, but that’s not including Utoikamanu and Sezer who have Mutual Options with the club and Tumeth who has a Player Option (although I suspect we’d probably just negotiate to pay his contract out even if he does take the option up).

Of those 26 there is roughly 6-8 who are long odds to make a positive contribution at NRL level and shouldn’t be there.

My mistake. Still not a lot of spots though as Richo has said he’s keeping a spot for Doueihi as well.

We need Royce Hunt. Great impact off the bench in the first half.
I’ve been on the Royce Hunt train for a while as he clearly has the size and aggression we are lacking.
But watching him closely tonight he gets out of breath very quickly and doesn’t look capable of playing anything other than short stints.
This time next season Jordan Miller might be able to offer just as much.
