OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

yes .. they have to start winning games … this three year funk they are in of 10 wins in 65 odd games is historic levels bad …

I know Richo has to multi task the issues around memberships, sponsors, home grounds and probably others … but the most critical thing he has to is to improve this team and start winning games … even winning 8 games a year and moving off the bottom is a modest first step but that’s starting to look like 2026 not 2025 the way things are heading …I have used the term that the squad is changing at a glacier pace …
I see where you are coming from but I feel you really need to give Richo a bit of time to do his job.. he Inherits a FVCKING mess, on and off the field.. he can’t just Waltz in and tear up contracts and sign players that are already contracted elsewhere,, this is why it takes a little time , 10 games is nowhere near long enough to change a culture , a mindset and a roster .. his track record really does speak for itself and give me a lot of confidence.. if it was not him , Richo himself taking it on I would be petrified and absolutely devoid of confidence.. but he came here fully prepared for the task with his eyes wide open and so far he has not disappointed me .. ( aside from letting ICE go ) .. we have so many issues onfield and off , but as he says , the job of the footy club is to win games and premierships .. and I hope and think he has the ability to accomplish this .. 🙏

I don't know whether offering Galvin an extension to drop the release request is necessarily the right thing we should be doing. The kid has 18 months before he can sign a deal with anyone else anyway, we still havent seen Latu fire a shot in anger yet, who's to say he isnt better than Galvin and were looking at another Brooks Moses situation.

100%
I’ve maintained this position since early this year.

I believe that letting ice leave was the wrong message , it’s opened Pandora’s box .
The only way it was a good idea, is if they come up with a genuine replacement, but it needs to come out asap

If he is going around telling everyone that he wants out, then how does that not end with a blow up from another player? Surely Api or someone would have told him to shut up
Buzz style creative writing getting a bit carried away?
It's really hard to bielieve and you'd think he'd be on the nose with team mates and coach... Maybe he's been dropped, not rested

Yah would love to know more about this if true...

Not sure why he doesn't come out and squash at least this part of the story, even if he wants to go - just doesn't make him look good at all.

If this was true, why would Richo even be fighting to keep that kind of locker room cancer about?

It's career suicide if true.
Can never believe buzz but surely he must have some kind of evidence/good source to say something like this. Would it be possible for a player to sue him if it was made up? Saying something like this can really damage a career & a young guys mental health (if it’s not true)

I think regardless of whether Galvin wants to leave or not the club needs to put a line in the sand and hold him here for the next two seasons, I firmly believe Richo will do this. Promote Latu into the halves when he is fit and Galvin can play KOE, unless he changes his mind. I personally think Latu will turn out to be the better player anyhow.

It's in the playbook. The manager gets the journo to put it out there, the player keeps quiet on the whole thing whilst the manager and club sort it out in the background. Then the player (or manager in the case of Moses) gets what he wants. Then the player finally speaks to the media and says "I love this club and always wanted to stay" or "I love this club and wanted to stay but...."
The thing here is that Richo has admitted that they asked for a release so that should be interesting

If Galvin rejects the clubs extension and pushes hard enough he will get his release. They always do, bar Ben Hunt most players if they agitate hard enough they get what they want.

We have to be smart about it if a release is granted and get a deal done and get a young quality player who wants to play NRL and not do a dummy spit the first time things go wrong

Would be interesting to know what triggered Hunts change of mind.
Galvin is a different proposition though, isn’t he, because of his age and low contract.
Richo‘s carrot of increase in term and amount on the contract is the only way we can go then hope for Stockholm syndrome to kick in? 😜

My view is we must stand our ground on this and it’s bigger than Galvin. He needs to stay the 2yrs.

We have a heap of kids coming through & signed it’s important the kids know if they sign we will stand our ground if they become superstars.

Hynes at the Storm was on minimum payments before shifting to the Sharks, they stood firm despite a heap of requests. Grant also with us they stood firm. Pezet and few others are same bucket. Other clubs do it - we must as well.

The thing with this is we have delivered on each of our promises to the kid & it still hasn’t been enough. He needs to deliver on his promise. We can’t be viewed a shop window club.
