I bet the Eels are delighted with this news.Blaize Talagi has informed the eels he’ll be leaving at the end of this season. Could this be what Richo was referring to?
There's no suggestion Galvin himself has asked for a release, only that his manager has asked for a release to negotiate with other clubsThere has been reports for the entire year that Galvin has been declining extensions & asking for releases but when I mention it people on here carry on that the media are just liars & it never happened blah blah blah. Same guys taking the media’s reports as gospel when it suits their agenda tho just like now with To’o.
I think people are taking things are a bit to serious with my question, I posed it as a clear hypothetical which I think people aren’t seeing. I hope Galvin wants to stay, that would be fantastic & hopefully he leads the team in a premiership. But if he doesn’t want to ‘get in the crocodile roll’ as the CEO would say then why tf would you not trade him for the best winger in the comp & proven winner.
Is this good news? I don't think so. We have youngsters, we need proven NRL starsI have some good news guys. There is a big chance that a fella called Blaze Talagi is going to sign with us in the next few days
Talagi has proven himself to be one of the best young talents in the NRL. This is a huge coup if true and some of the so-called football commentators will have to suck it up.Is this good news? I don't think so. We have youngsters, we need proven NRL stars
He can play centre or fullback. Honestly think bula could move to centre with talagi fullback if he comesIs this good news? I don't think so. We have youngsters, we need proven NRL stars
To'o earning close to a mill is more justified than Val but you are correct, both will improve us considerably. It will cost us 900k possibly up to 1 million per season for either of Brian To’o or Valentine Holmes.
Yes that is a lot of money for an outside back, possibly a little bit more than they are worth, but I believe we desperately need either one of them as their profile and style of play would bring us much needed confidence.
Sarcasm or Realism?Tigers sign blaze talagi 3 year deal
It is an interesting connundrum that has been raised re; Galvin and To'o.
On the surface, To'o certainly improves us. His returns are better than our front rowers and he is a finisher.
For a 26 year old, he has achieved a hell of a lot so far and that experience makes him an old head on young shoulders - invaluable to a squad on and off the field.
Galvin has shown a lot of promise. He is a born NRL player, looking extremely comfortable mixing it with players he used to look up to as a fan on tele. His skill set, body composition and IQ make him a valuable commodity in the league. Is he a 5/8th? I dont think so personally, but he could be a world class backrower...I see lots of rep jerseys in his furture there.
Should we trade Galvin for To'o? Its a decision that could make or break the club.
At the end of the day, it will come down to that meeting that Richo had with MR and Mrs Galvin and Moses. Did he tell them to STFU until its time to negotiate a new deal? I think so. Galvin has credited Joey Johns with changing his mind, not the club. Is he on a countdown timer until November next year? It would be extremely naive to think that Moses hasnt been chatting behind the scenes and doesnt already have initial ballpark figures communicated to him from the big clubs.
- Galvin has a career likely stretching to another 15+ years. To'o would have less than 10 left.
- Galvin is versatile - 5/8, backrow, centre. To'o is a meter eating winger.
- To'o provides immediate impact. Galvin still has training wheels on.
- To'o has huge history with Api and Luai as well as Turuva, Staines and Naden. Galvin is still building combinations and relationships in firsts, but does have them with the young guns coming through.
- Us losing a lot of experience this year in the pack would be a plus for To'o as he picks up some of their slack...something our replacements would certainly require.
Its a tough position to be in for Richo.
Does he take the risk that Galvin will re-sign with us and not try the swap deal? This will supply short term pain for potential long term gain, persuant to bringing other players here to keep the kid on the hook.
Does he trust his gut that Lachie will go and do the deal? Only Richo knows the likelyhood of this one based upon conversations completed. This will supply short term gain for potential long term pain. A return to the finals in 2025 would be more likely with To'o in the team than Galvin. That said, what is the ceiling?
Does he come up with some ingenius way of getting them both here? Who else could he offer? Turuva and Matamua as an example?
Im sure he is very busy at the moment. There is a lot more going on than we could come up with as a collective unit on here Id suspect...
Whatever happens, the drama that is Wests Tigers will remain the top billed show in town.
Val is a class player, but if we get him I'd play him at wing. He's been getting worse at centre. But it's also a dilemma that we desperately need a right centre, which ironically is where Holmes has been poor at in origin. He's mostly a left centre or winger on both sides. Not a good fullback. Wouldn't give him near a million thoughTo'o earning close to a mill is more justified than Val but you are correct, both will improve us considerably.
We’ve had to go through it, what’s wrong with him?
We don’t just suddenly get up in the morning and decide to follow the storm or whatever?
Voluntarily leaving the wests tigers when you are looking Ok for the future, is pretty much a crime in my book.
No excuses, he’s a card carrying unbeliever, another footy [This word has been automatically removed] out there trying to get laid.
May he do an acl in every game he plays. And hopefully when his time comes at ripe old age 134, after his good and happy post footy life, he does his other acl stumbling through the pearly gates.
BS that what it isSarcasm or Realism?
He has already signed with his new club.....His Agent is Issac Moses who also manages Shane Flannagan..but Blaize is off to the Riff!I have some good news guys. There is a big chance that a fella called Blaze Talagi is going to sign with us in the next few days
I really am warming to the idea of Bula in the centres. Obviously big questions around his defence but if he added a few kilos he would he a real asset on the edge. Regardless, if the Talagi thing is true Bula will really benefit from some proper competitionHe can play centre or fullback. Honestly think bula could move to centre with talagi fullback if he comes
Of course the lower the cost the better and common sense says you do not give a contract of more than a couple of years to any player who will soon been on the wrong side of 30.I can’t agree that Holmes is even worth $800k … maybe $700k… for two years with a third year option in the Tigers favour …if that doesn’t get it done then move on …
Watch how little NRL360 scrutinise this...complete contrast to how the Tigers are reported onCH9 with the headline "Eel on the move". Either way it is bad news for the Eels
