Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hunt is a good impact player. We have been lacking one since Marty Taupau. Speaking of MT might be open to a welcome home. Good impact player off the bench. Amongst the two of them, we could have some extra punch in the middle and it wouldn’t be a significant financial set back.

Souths have Dodd coming next year on good money, they are trying to offload Illias though

I see Ilias as a very good lock. His ability to play straight is second to none. However we don't need another rookie 13 transitioning from the halves as we have Latu, so I'm not suggesting we sign him. However I'd like to see a club pick up Ilias and use him in the manner.

Can you think of some other players looking to retire.
There has been plenty of mentions for Tyson Frizell, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Jack Bird, Dane Gagai.
We could make a great over 30’s team if some of those join Justin Olam, Api, Klemmer etc.
I don’t think the NRL competition is forgiving enough to allow you to succeed with too many over the hill has beens through.

Would have liked to have Sezar playing Cup as a back up for us and mentoring the reserves.

If Sullivan leaves too we will be a bit light on halves depth.

Music to AD's ears 😂😂

Let's put AD in the halves in Cup and leave him there unless we are smashed by injuries.

Jeez I think a few are going slightly over the top on Wishart personally. Don’t get me wrong, he is playing great footy - maybe even one of the form players with his big show & go. The best comparison I could make is when Blake Austin was cutting everyone up the same way that 1 year, people were saying the same about him. Problem is he isn’t going to be flying under the radar much longer, eventually teams will study for that big dummy & he will have to improve his ball skills or strength.

IMO The reason Wishart is so effective is because everyone has been so worried about the other guys on the field (pap, Grant, Hughes, Munster). Hopefully I’m wrong because he’s a fun player to watch & a good story of never giving up but I think he’ll come back to earth next season, not ever going close to being a origin player
Completely agree. He left St George because he was well down their depth chart, behind even Sullivan at the time.

Doueihi playing in the halves in KOE & being a utlilty reserve for 1st grade is fantastic depth.

Tom opacic coming back to nrl from England , cheap centre , went ok when with the slimy eels and only injury made him miss their grand final off report
Depending on who we sign and who we offload he could be a handy pick up.
If we do end up signing Brian To’o I’d say we would have to find a way to offload Justin Olam to fit him in the cap if and that happens someone like Opacic on a minimal contract could fill a void.

from memory (tea strainer material) he was a media darling 4 his defense at parra ,only 29.article says he may stay in ESL,home town Redcliffe,we could do worse

I always

I always thought he was pretty decent, very good defensively. We need to do some offloading to accomodate him though.

Out of Hunt, Hazleton, Kaufusi, Rudolph, Hamlin-Uele, & Colquhoun, our man Royce is the last player I'd take from that list. No upside, all downhill for him at 29, given he gives little more than 30 mins per game as it is.

It's no surprise he's the one Cronulla are trying to offload.

By the way, what a rocking prop forward contingent that is. Add in the powerful backs they have, it's no wonder they've consistently been at the top of table the past few years. Generally recruited very well. Their soft underbelly is in the spine.
Does wonders for their finals performances right ?
