PNG Team Inclusion

Its hard not to think that this is all a political move to decrease the Chinese influence within PNG, i have worked and lived in PNG for 4 years, watched local and international games and seen the passion from the people, and there are a lot of good people in PNG, but these are the issues, and explaining the background.
1. I started a security company for a 5 star hotel for APEC, when i was told by the HR manager what the hourly rate was I couldn't believe it, 90 cents aus per hour. So how is this relevant, what is the cost of an average NRL game ticket ? $32.00, so is the NRL going to subsidise the ticket cost ? Yep, locals can save up for a ticket, but wait, so these unscrupulous finance companies come in and see every worker in a new company and offer loans, a direct deduction from their wages, at 52% interest, not much left to live on.
2. Stadiums are great, but security poor. Accommodation great, Security Okay. But they will not be going our at night, its not safe.
3. Pathways, there are none, did not see one junior game the whole time I was there, just local senior games.
4. Where are the millions going to go, into schools, sanitation (there is not a Bin in the whole of Port Moresby), an Academy ? Nope into the pockets of politicians, i can assure you of that.
Hope you all have a better understanding of why I am so against this.

Point 4 is my biggest concern. No details yet, but seems like the money will simply be handed over to use as they see fit. We all know how that ends.

tax free pay from png government for players.
I don't think the other nrl ceo's will be happy with that. It basically means png are playing with an inflated salary cap

if Cleary is on 1.3 million he pays roughly 550k in tax so takes about 800k nett.
in png he takes nett the 1.3 million

PNG could say to a Galvin or whoever play with us and earn tax free dollars.
Apparently team will be based in North Qld and fly into a compound (to be built by u.s. army) to stay and play games

I just hope the team can be somewhat competitive. If this plan ever falls through, I’m sure a QLD team will take it’s place.

It would be pretty funny if China offers to build a brand new stadium for them to play in.

Credit must go to the NRL for their expansion choices.

To bring the Bears back in Perth and letting them play a game at NSO and Gosford is a great move.

PNG is audacious but further internationalises the game and will be a great filip........not only for PNG but for islander people who support the game on the east coast of Australia.

Player market is about to go crazy with PNG & WA!

That's true.

Looking back to the 90s when there were 20 teams it actually wasn't too bad..........until Super League entered the fray.

It will be interesting as to who this affects the most.

Perhaps PNG may recruit heavily from QLD especially the far north which may affect Nth Qld and Perhaps Melbourne via their back door recruitment of Queensland's I speculate. It may also further inflate the play makers market as they may be deficient there.

Perth will certainly affect the Sydney market directly.

Certainly a good time for the club and Shane to create strong pathways to lock down our juniors before it's too late.

That makes sense MM, Nth QLD and the like. Also,
the Western Force folding in WA with their pathways
as well will be a good recruitment base
for dual athletes. Plenty of kiwis, Aussies & Saffas

I don't agree with the bears. Does Sydney really need extra games?
