Taking a wrecking ball to the club! (Recent Media Reports)

That’s right. If Burgess and co didn’t execute the coup and the review recommendations went through we’d have the independent board members on the WT board and none of this (most likely) would have come up.

Recommendations may still go through but nevertheless recommendations were non binding and the club was never obliged to answer to a minority fan group.

If the recommendations go through, the club has answered to the fan group and we can get on with it as a club.

Wrong.
Most posters on here are affiliated with WestsTigers… whether originally Balmain or Magpies supporters or having grown up with only the WestsTigers.
Only a few look like they never moved on.
Wrong ckt.
My team is Wests Tigers and has been since 2000.
Western Suburbs Magpies to me are like a very old and dear friend.
If I hear rumours that my friend is possibly in trouble and may need my help, I will defend and try help that friend until I find that someone has been telling pork pies, and I am pretty sure most of you at least, would want to help and support that friend.
Just because I have had a new friend for 24 years, doesn't mean I have to forget my old friend.
From an internet search this morning I found a report from the Wests Tigers Board, and I read some interesting stuff on there. But I don't know if this is the same report that has already been posted on here or not.

The Board, C.E.O and the WHOLE TEAM at HBG wish to address the members and faithful directly about FALSE AND DIVISIVE REPORTS regarding our group and the club.
Make no mistake the reports are NONSENSE AND SCANDALOUS GOSSIP.

The HBG is ABSOLUTELY and UNEQUIVICALLY COMMITTED TO THE JV.

Any REPORTING or SUGGESTION that WE are not committed to the WESTS TIGERS is UNTRUE.

While concerns WERE raised over the REVIEW PROCESS, upon its completion the review provided recommendations that were endorsed UNANIMOUSLY by ALL PARTIES.

The HBG board has NEVER DISGUSSED or RAISED any PROPOSAL to BRING BACK THE MAGPIES,
and the term WIND BACK THE REVIEW has NEVER been USED or MENTIONED.

The REVIEW RECOMMENDATIONS have LARGELY BEEN IMPLEMENTED DESPITE REPORTS TO THE CONTRARY.

Etc., etc., etc.

Sounds POSITIVE to me.

Disclosure...I am NOT presenting this post to cause more fighting, I don't enjoy the fighting one little bit. Leave a comment if you want, but I won't be 'replying' to any posts either positive or negative should anyone feel inclined to do so.

It will never be sold.

Besides, we may entering a successful period and few will care either way.
Yes I suspect it will never be sold. That’s why I’m bemused that everyone is so happy to lay the boot into the owners like they do. There’s got to be a better way to get things working effectively.
I’m more concerned with the coaching/training staff.
They are the weakest link in the organisation currently.

If you have a better way for fans to achieve this, I’m sure the petitioners are all ears.

good grief. That's what you took from this?

The world's BIGGEST football team by value, and you think that's a negative?

The last 10 years:

Played Champions League Football 2024, 2023, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2016
FA Cup Winner 2024, 2016
FA Cup Runner Up 2023, 2018,
Europa League Runner Up 2021
Europa League Winner 2017

You are right that's a fall from Winning the league year after year.

But you want to compare that to us winning 3 spoons and not playing finals for 13 years?

Ok. Makes sense
Man Utd have been a joke for a while now & you fail to mention that the fans have revolted against the Glazers for many many years now too. When was the last time Utd actually challenged for the Prem or the UCL?

I think you miss the point of a "leagues club".

These are essentially private business operations. They are "private clubs" which started to support a cause (cricket, football, ex service personnel). They only differ to Coca Cola or McDonalds is that the club cannot a profit and are not taxed by the govt like a corporation, as the "cause" benefits the community.

These clubs invite people to become members. The advertise how the business is run, and how members can become board members. They don't go into the street put a gun to those people's heads and demand they join.

It's a clubs responsibility to publish the club rules.
It's a members responsibility to read those rules.

A member joins that club with rules in place. And the member makes a decision to join or not.

How much more democratic do you need?

As I've said before, most members want a cheap feed, a cheap beer, a loyalty program to reward them for their loyalty, and place to play bingo/play the pokies/enter the raffle.
If it’s run as ‘democratically’ as you suggest then why is it this is the only club run with a core of debenture holders holding all the power.
If you know of another I’d love to hear of it.
St George once were but realised it was prehistoric long ago.
And, yes, I know what most people want when they visit a club.
Also, and you left this part out, even though it’s up to them, most members don’t read the rules. Especially when they consist of pages of fine print… including what we’re talking about right near the end.

If you have a better way for fans to achieve this, I’m sure the petitioners are all ears.
When the petitioners claim they are done working with HBG then that becomes pretty much impossible.
It seems both sides are going all in on this and we will end up with a definitive winner and loser.
I can’t see how this will be good for anyone, especially if the owners don’t sell up.

The post has been reproduced many times… and there’s plenty of anomies in it.
I’m tired of people sticking up for people who are running the team into the ground.
I have no care at all what they do with Wests Ashfield as long as they don’t bring their ineptitude to the football team … and that’s what’s happening.
They are not competent to run a football team… and I include the entire 7 in that statement.
A wise man once said
“Bees don’t waste their time explaining to flies that honey tastes better than shit.”
End of story.

I’ll let someone in that sphere respond to that.

Well, this was my gripe with the initial process...........it failed to focus on coaching, training staff, player procurement and junior talent identification. That's where the rubber hits the road. Our club has major discipline problems and fitness issues.

Wondering if anything has been addressed there?

Not to say management didn't need changing .........it's the process that's the problem.

Shane is a big upgrade , but ultimately his hitched his ride by doubling down on Benji........he will be judged on this.

I wonder what experience the petition organisers have in business, boards, conflict management and general people management.?

Too many ultimatums and threats.

When Madge tried to fix discipline & fitness he was blocked by the management who employed him to do so, the serious problems at our club have always sat above football.

Where the rubber meets the road… or eggshells?

lol can’t you read ?

Here’s another one … read & learn & stop dribbling nonsense

The petition went to the club’s major shareholder, the Holman Barnes Group, which then ordered an external review to be conducted by former NRL chief financial officer Tony Crawford and businessman Gary Barnier. Their recommendations resulted in the dissolution of the Wests Tigers administration.

Helmes and his fellow podcasters will have a busy schedule as they digest how their simple online petition helped bring about such seismic change at the club they love.

What is often said in the media vs what actually happens are two different things. The review was in its planning stages before the petition was raised.

But please feel free to think otherwise. It apparently makes people feel important
Is there a reason why you will only accept everything you say is correct, even when you're just stating your opinion?

Also, you've popped up in the past two days despite claiming to have been a member of the forum for a while and you're only now sharing all this 'common knowledge' about Wayde, TA and Lee. You seem to be quite in favour of HBG, so why just pop on here now to share it?

Just changing the subject a minute …

do you agree there will be no excuses for Madge this year in Brisbane ? He got fired at Souths and fired here … he has a pretty good squad this time around right who are going to expect success
