Crazy. Get another dummy half in there. Can't remember where I saw it but I think it was Api, who said Benji will jump in at training for him to give him a break.

Agree. Hobart's climate in Brisbane would be 👌Yep I need to move to Tassie for 3 months of the year, I enjoy Brisvegas but the heat / wet has been atrocious … would like to see photos of spew buckets when they got hammered 😉
How many great players actually pursue coaching? Most the last 20 years should have earnt enough to not need the income.Billy slater the only one that comes to mind but that's with a great qld team. The correlation of great players being not so great coaches, and average or lesser known players being great coaches is incredible. Ricky Stuart a bit of an outlier but then again his coaching has been poor the last few years. Madge, Bellamy, Gould, Ciraldo, Robinson were no standouts. I'd say Ivan Cleary is the best former player in the game who is currently a great coach in the game
Agreed!People writing him off already.
Give him a chance with this team he has assembled no coach in our history has been able to attract the players he has he must be doing something rite.
Jarome Luai is playing for us this season and benji is the reason he is here!!!!!
One of the reasons F, there are 6 million other reasons as well !People writing him off already.

I don't think we would have the recruitment success with another no name coach. He at least served an apprenticeship
That is both Melbourne and Penriths main thing .I remember listening to Sterlo on radio several years back he said something along the lines of:
"the most successful premiership campaigns are based on a strong unwavering defense."
Spot on , the whole, team should want zero points scored against them at all costs , that wins games , steel wall defence will win you plenty games , it needs to be burnt into them all , hit the opponent so hard they don’t want to run at you.".........cohesion (suspensions and.injury to key players in the defensive structures and lack of depth) and attitude (not wanting to win the collision due to combinations of the aforementioned).........."
Don't agree with this.
There needs to be a uniform defensive system and mindset right throughout the top 30 or whoever going to be possibly playing any given weekend.
Possibly you could make a case with a defensive b/rower that's looking after a half, but they all.should be on the same page and know what's expected at any minute they're thrown into the hotseat.
Not wanting it bad enough because player A is missing doesn't cut it
That has always been the case.I remember listening to Sterlo on radio several years back he said something along the lines of:

I am not going to be one who dreams away and then gets mad at the team by round 10 when we realise nothing has changed. It's expectation now after 3 seasons in a rowWorried about a throwaway quote from a few weeks ago man, get it together, like the rest of the forum. There is too much to be excited about right know. Laugh now cry l8r
Agreed!
Many a negative knob on this forum. We all know who they are and they will respond accordingly. I’m tired of the pessimism on here. It’s boring.
Cue the knobs - “oh we’ve won 3 spoons. Why should I be optimistic.” Knob, look at the squad and who we have.
Summary to the pessimistic knobs - stop being a knob. Enjoy life. Knob.

We've had the best rebuild in recent NRL history alot has changed. The irony is if players had the same "losing" mindset then yeah nothing would change.I am not going to be one who dreams away and then gets mad at the team by round 10 when we realise nothing has changed. Benji is still fairly young, only just finishing up in the game himself... Maybe he still feels a connection with the younger crew, as long as when it comes to game day, he puts the serious face on.... We've tried the hard approach with madge, we got worse....Might be overreacting a bit but this quote from Tito regarding Benji has me worried a bit -
“And then he was just talking to me, like, brah, you don’t have to treat me like that. I’m one of the boys. So that was pretty cool to hear from him. It was pretty cool to see.”
Benji definitely does come off as 'one of the boys'. I think it's our biggest issue heading into the season is how he will change his approach and I am very uncertain that he would be willing to be less 'flexible' and holding mediocre standards. Regardless of how many great resignings/signings in the off season, how many training camps, positive culture vibes, punishments for players being unfit, or anything else, none of this hype in the off season will mean anything if the most important figure in the club can't deliver.
Being relatable is a drawcard but yeah come gameday you gotta be ruthlessBenji is still fairly young, only just finishing up in the game himself...
