OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Now we are talking - Latu and Romey and the halves and Galvin swinging around with Bula. Still a problem at 13 - someone would have to defend as a centre and wear a 3 or 4 on their back. Good headache to try and solve!
What are your thoughts on possibly having either Latu or Galvin defending as a centre, but in attack having Luai, Galvin and Latu combining as our 1,6 & 7 with Bula reverting to the centres in attack ?
That was my initial thoughts, but I do like the look of Bula’s attack so far this season and he no doubt has much more to give, so I’m not as keen on taking him away from fullback in attack anymore,
However I do think a 1,6 & 7 attacking combination of Luai, Galvin and Latu would be very difficult to contain for opposing teams.

I have not been to a game live as yet this season as I have been overseas.
I've been to three games so far & it doesn't show up on the TV but Luai is directing where everyone needs to be in our attacking shapes & hands out a fair few sprays if someone has missed their assignment or aren't where they need to be. As someone said he's not giving the last pass but he is having a hand in the build up to the tries like Turuvas first one against the Fins.

Gave Fataape a few gob fulls on Sunday. Woefully out of position on a few shifts.

I think it is much of muchness in that it is a variation ont he theme that the Chad has put forward. I really like the Keep is Simple, Stupid principle and we are starting to get into confusion territory.

In theory, I think this type of attack could work, again it is an attackign strategy that you can't build in a week. My concern with this thread isn't how we could make the attack work. It is how we could make it work in defence when we already struggle to win the collision and control the ruck.

We would be back to the days of you score 30 we score 31. Won us a premiership 25 years ago!

I agree with your point 100%

That said- we are not likely to start winning the collision with the current squad. I just don't think we are a physically strong enough team.

Maybe our best bet is to win 31-30? 😀

That’s a good point and I thought that would be the case, will be very interesting to see how we go without him this coming weekend and I am not very optimistic unfortunately.
Interestingly at the Leichhardt trial game against the Eels the on field talk from Galvin and Heath Mason was very loud and constant, I was surprised.

I agree but think Latu has far greater potential.
Hard to say. Possibly. I love everything I've seen of Latu from Matts up.

But, despite playing the same position, they couldn't be more different and I think they're going in two, very different, development directions.

I'm very keen to see how they develop and hopefully it's with us for a very long time.

As much as I think almost all of our supporter base would ideally like to see both Galvin and Latu Fainu stay at the club long term, can you realistically see that happening ?
As long as we have Luai it’s really a case of one or the other with Galvin and Latu as they are both very promising young halves.

The easiest solution could well be to have Latu play in the centres for the time being.

As has been said on a few occasions now- Fittler, Daley, Kenny, Burton....they all played centre before 5/8. If it gets him on the field...they can move the pieces around to suit the game.

Regardless- having $500k per season Latu not on the field doesn't feel like we are using our best 17 players.

I have no doubt it could work from an attacking point of view, Benji doesn’t appear to see it as an option as even when we were in disarray on Sunday he still kept Latu closer to the action.
Maybe Benji doesn’t think Latu is quick enough to handle defending in the centres ?

It is definitely a workable option and LAtu has shown what he can bring to the table. The concern is how we deal with the way the other team combats it. We already struggle with Api/TDS and Seyfarth in defence. Add Latu into the mix and we aren't dominating the ruck. We are planning to a deep dive on this exact issue next week. Could ba a very interesting discussion - I wonder if Benji has five minutes to drop in 🤣🤣🤣
Jolls- when is this discussion happening? I'm curious to read what my eyes might not be seeing.

I'm sure 'we are not strong enough' can't be the only answer.

If only we had Jack Hetherington..... 🙂

Quite possible.

I'm quite happy to admit that I think I got Bird wrong. I had him down as a centre for us this season, but he really has shown surprising grit in defence around the middle.

Add to that- I thought he was much less effective at centre in defence- so I clearly am more Anthony Seibold than Wayne Bennett.

Point being- with Skelton, Doueihi etc fighting injury- I think I'd be happier seeing Latu play centre with Bird staying closer to the action.

Thanks dopey.
You recently stated Luai disappeared for the last 15mins of the game which potentially cost us the win and now want to criticise me for stating he may not be a better player than either Galvin or Latu Fainu by 2027 ?
Keep up your criticism of Seyfarth, he was without doubt in our top 3 players against the Warriors and a big contributor in our win over the Dolphins.

The irony of you calling anyone dopey when you’re the biggest dope on here by far.

That’s some solid logic right there. So because I stated that Luai disappeared for the last 15 minutes following two great tackles that possible injured his shoulder, that means Galvin and Latu will be better than him by 2027? Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds? Evidently not since you love to display your stupidity like it’s a badge of honour on here.

Seyfarth was a top 3? The guy who yet again gave away a penalty that actually cost us the game? We can add this one to your long list of moronic claims. Tell me again how May doesn’t offer anything more than Twal, dunce 🤣

Mate, he’ll improve if he stops cutting back through the ruck as he has nowhere near the required speed. If not then off to the backrow he goes, worth $1 million?
This happens because we are losing the ruck, the defense is up in our faces and he has.nowhere to go....hes fast enough....he needs space not more pace (tho.it wouldnt go astray)

That's the key. Keen them both until then.

That's the challenge.
