Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The way I see it after all of my initial disappointment has now settled, is this:
1.Lachlan Galvin is contracted to the Wests Tigers until the end of 2026
2. Lachlan Galvin is without doubt a top 17 First Grade player
3. I want the Wests Tigers to play finals in 2025
4. To achieve the above Lachlan Galvin MUST be selected to play First Grade (next week).
All the comments about him being part of the 2024 Wooden Spoon side does not wash, as in 2025 he can now play alongside Luai, May, Bird, Hunt, Turuva etc. who were not playing with the Tiges in 2024. Benji has to override the players from next week and select Lachlan Galvin in 1st grade. I am concerned about this Mondays game against the Eels and if we lose, sadly Isaac Moses will be laughing his head off.
He made his choice. He should not play another 1st grade game for the Tigers.

I don't care if Brandon Tumeth has to play at 6 for us to be honest. If he has lost the trust of his teammates (which clearly he has), he ain't coming back into this team. This team is different beast in 2025 because every single player taking the field wants to play for each other and is in it for Benji. If Galvin goes out there, 16 other players don't want to play for him and our attitude and effort will drop.

1 player is not bigger than the club. He sits in reserve grade until we get a favourable trade from another club.

Spare us the empty platitudes. You can say he needs to be selected but you can’t specifically say why.

What has he done this year to warrant automatic selection? His kicking game has been very poor, his decision making in attack has been questionable at best, his defence has been average and now his teammates (and probably the coaching staff) despise him. Not doubting the kid is talented but he isn’t showing it this year outside of the Dolphins game.

Your vision is not based on the reality of how he has played so far this season nor the wider reality of his relationship with the team and coaching staff which is entirely on him and his management.

As long as the team is happy to have him back, I don't mind him being selected.

But the ideal scenario is AD and Luai kill it, and keep him out of the team for as long as possible.

I completely disagree with ever selecting him again in first grade.I want players who are proud to play for the club each week and play as a team.Galvin is NOT a team player despite his talent.

Kid is 17. Let him be a kid and come through properly. Or do you want another Galvin scenario?

He’s on a rugby scholarship which would be rescinded if he’s not available to play rugby for the school.

No one can predict a players NRL or sporting future, but graduating from a GPS school and looked after as an ‘old boy’ is the best thing for a boy right now.
It’s another Galvin scenario I want to avoid.
I don’t even want to hear his name for a couple more years.

Aren’t you the bloke who wants to wrecking ball our club?
Been enjoying the wins have ya? 😎

I think everyone can understand him wanting to see what he can get on the market however giving your reason as being youre have no faith in the coach is disgraceful.

Hold him to ransom if he wants an early release.

Dogs - get Burton. Can come play with his ex Penrith mates.
Parra - they have no one.
Manly - Olakautu or id do a deal for Paseka AND Bullemor.
Roosters - Wong or Chrichton.
Starting to think Tito has split personalities.

Addition- I'd contemplate Kikau from the Dogs.

Whilst I don't want to show him the door I think as long suffering supporters we deserve to have our best 17 players selected each week. Use him whilst we have him under contract so we can finally make the finals. A complete waste if we make our point and have him playing at Lidcombe Oval every 2nd week.

I clearly stated why he needs to play 1st grade.

If Galvin was to decide to go to the Bulldogs, there is no chance Gus would offer any of his contracted players as a swap deal, he would play hard ball and stick with what he already has until 2027.
Where the Eels and possible the Sea Eagles would be much more desperate to get their hands on Galvin much sooner.

How would people feel if Galvin just came out and said "I've always wanted to play for Parra."? Because I think that's a part of this. He grew up following them, dreamt of representing them, got shafted by them but still wants to go back. Plus having both Isaac and Mitch in his ear, Brown leaving, it all falls into place for 2026. I just hope we make him honour his contract all of next year and make them wait as we had to with Luai.

In May news, Wests Tigers have told Taylan that he has a contract next year if he undergoes rehab. He is not looking at other club offers and is willing to do what is needed to play with his brother. Tyrone has also reached out to the club for a minimal-dollar deal. They are desperate to play together in 2026. Watch this space.

manly will need someone to replace DCE
if they can sign galvin or fogarty they would sign galvin as they have brooks already contracted

no idea who parramatta could possibly offer us, Lomax ? Hopgood maybe ?

I clearly stated why he needs to play 1st grade.

No you didn’t. You said he’s contracted until 2026, a top 17 player and needs to play in order for us to reach the finals. That’s not “why” he needs to play. What has he done to warrant automatic selection based on his on field play?

I told you exactly what he’s been doing this year in terms of his on field play. You made a bunch of generic statements with nothing to back them up and are now running from that. So either present something beyond empty statements or go away and let the adults discuss.

at present AD offers similar to galvin in the 6 / 7 role however AD probably defends slightly better and is committed to the club and goal kicks.
A centre pairing right now of naden and starford is probably as goodna pairing as we can come up with at present
we don't need galvin at present to win games of football he was terrible against Newcastle

Kikau absolutely fills a massive hole in our team. Sam Fainu has been ordinary/ injured.

I think Fainu hasn’t been used well.
Until last game Galvin and Luai cramped his side and never used him, when Galvin moved more right edge and Luai stayed left Fainu had his best game of the year. Galvin also picks run v pass to Fainu. It’s congested & disjointed when Galvin moved across.

Leave Luai to the left, let Api own the middle and let the halfback own the right with Bula roving. This should use our attacking strengths better and allow for structure to function.
