Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We can send Jack Bird to them, he defends well.
He was a signing I just couldn't understand. I know fir a fact he's had a long time relationship with Flanno and we shouldn't of known he's just not up to it. No disrespect to Jack I have spoken to him many times when he was living down here and I was always amazed how small he is and yet definitely played above his weight besides the injuries . But he was to busted and he is not the player we needed unfortunately.

Very good signing.
There is no guarantees with young players as we well know, but a standout man of the match performance in an u/19’s SOO is generally a very good sign and follows the lead of others such as Ethan Strange a couple of years earlier.
He seems to have the IQ and the red zone kicks mastered. Got MOM.
Didn't see the game, but does he have speed, a step or something else not shown in the highlights?.......... X factor?

But he was a 100% right about not contesting any kicks we put up , everybody knows they can be 50/50 so well worth trying
More then that.

Contested kicks can force people to think, panic and make mistakes.
They pass instead of getting tackled to keep the ball alive.

This is basic stuff, I mean we can see it:
Line speed.
Contested kicks (in fairness our kicking hasn't been great).

Why isn't this being worked on?

He will probs just go back to England and willingly. Would be a lonely existence being this far away from home to run around Lidcombe Oval and that.
a few Pommie clubs want him ,but Souths are trying to do to them what they want to do to use , Sullivan wise. Screw all concerned getting their cap in order

He does look to have good speed off the mark, sone deception in his balk playing and a confident kicking game to go with his talk wirey frame.
As a combination I’m confident he has the required x-factor that helps mould a very good halve.

Elite touch footy background for Javon as well …

I doubt the Titans would release a player such as Beau Fermor for 2026, but just say they did and we could potentially sign him.
What would be wrong with Fermor, Samuela Fainu and KPP all battling it out for our 2 edge back rowers starting spots and potential for whoever misses out to play 13 or start off the bench ?
Nothing wrong with the off the bench part but 13 is such an important position in the modern game. The coaching team should have a clear idea of who they want to be there and how they want them to play. It is not a consolation prize for the guy who misses an edge spot.

Interesting. I never knew that.
My old man was a local...well we all were, was a member of WA and spent a LOT of time at Ashfield pub.
Lots of players were locals too and it seemed common knowledge locally.
Words spread after the 4th schooner.
Late 50s early 60s they were the millionaires...1 premiership but nearly 10 years finalists but up against the record breaking dragons.
70s they were the battlers, fibros which Masters used well but it was not just psychology it was real.
80s = they were busted, broke and kicked out of the comp three times.
Fund raising concerts at Lidcombe and Burwood, raffles etc to remain viable meanwhile the blazer brigade stuffed their snouts at the trough.
