Luke Brooks #167

This thread is like a car crash, you can’t help but slow down to stare at the wreckage. I come on to the forum and hit What’s New to see this thread up near the top. I tell myself dont go in, but I always get sucked in to take a look.

we need help!

BTW, I hope he does well.

He played well, but his impact been massively overstated. DCE was the reason they won. Brooks played his part.

For whatever reason everything he does is massively overstated or understated.

The worry is Galvin is already getting similar wraps and similar pressure will come.
Don't worry. Galvin is the next Joey Johns. He will succeed and I will become his number one fan.

The same old bland tiresome crowd on here fluffing Brooksy as they did when he was here playing like shit. Once a terrible judge of footy/footy player, always a terrible judge. Just a pity they actually don't care about the Tigers winning games, seems odd being a Tigers forum. Pascoe, Lee and Brooks breeding a decade of losing mentality into the team and 'fans' has certainly taken its toll on some.
Two blokes you named disappeared from rugby league without a whimper. One showed up in Vegas and nearly bagged a brace in a win under the bright lights. One of those things is not like the others.

No. You're right, he is a good boy. Part of my frustration
with him is his inability to communicate anything -
on & off the pitch - he's a really quite guy by nature.
Lord knows he doesn't need another excuse though,
we had his balls in our purse 4 so long - he's free now,
all grown up. Happy 4 him, but can't escape the fact
that the only constant at the club over the last decade
has been him, absolutely no escaping that fact...
we got so many things wrong over the past decade
that it's no wonder that he is the poster child 4 failure.
Don't hate him, just love the club 2 much 2 cheer him
on or the scumbags he plays 4 across the bridge lol
No excuses - just facts!

And I have never cheered for any ex-Tiger at any club - aside from the odd player in the ESL (unlike many others who still fawn over Tedesco & Moses)!

Line Brooks up along some of the other hooker-half-fullback combinations he has been forced to play with - and he was the only genuine first grade quality spine player in the team at times!

As I said I hope he continues a losing record at Manly - and he retires without a Premiership!

BUT - he is not the type of fraud who wasn't NRL quality or did not put in 100%!

His performance was basically a snapshot of his entire career, nothing more and nothing less.
Defended well, couple of good probing runs, the odd try, grubber kicks into opposition legs, shocking pass to his winger when something was brewing...nothing that we didn't see every game TBH.
The real proof of the pudding will be when he's expected to be the dominant half during Origin and/or DCE injury. That's the litmus test.

I hope he has a good season and rest of his career, he never dogged it for our club like Moses, Aloiai and a few others. Always put his body on the line in defence and had a go. Plus has the admirable quality of being a humble guy, great trait.
But people who are jumping to the conclusion that the way he played on Sunday was anything different than what we have seen ad nauseum over the years are kidding themselves.

Yes bro 4 sure, I'll pay that all day. People that deny
him that have their own personal vendettas/issues.

Most of them are just Magpie Dipsh*ts,
Who vent their hatred for Balmain through their hate for one of the
highest profile Juniors the club has seen in recent times...

Exactly my thoughts

Nah… not in my case.
I was from the Balmain side originally.
He was a fake halfback here for too long.
Don’t care where he came from originally just glad to see the back of him.

Maybe the best thing...... Watch him grow now...
You could look at it that way, with Brooksy leaving behind his baggage and considering his new start.
His past coaches never helped by announcing publicly that it’s ‘his team’. It had the sound of desperation and delegating responsibility to one player. A cop out.
That double inside play of his has been done heaps of times at Tigers, but rarely came off apart from a couple of times with Garner.
It gave Turbo a very good view of the white line and should have been a 4 pointer.

Because he no longer plays with WT, some league so called experts will have him playing SOO.

No doubt. Flogs like Anasta will be lapping him up every week hoping that it further denigrated the image of WT as a club.
The same people that ridiculed WT for breaking the bank to keep him will be the ones that change their tune now and hail him as a superstar.
Dan Ginnane saying "it just feels like Luke Brooks is home now" during commentary on Sunday made me laugh hard.
