2019 Coaching saga -Thread

Nothing surprises in Rugby League anymore. At the end of the day it's all about money ….. contracts, loyalty, honesty are all things of the past. Sometimes I wonder why I bother to be passionate.

Probably the best and most accurate post from the last 155 pages

Cleary had me on the Bus, I met him @ a few Lunches & he seemed like a really nice bloke. I am terribly disappo inted in his actions & think what he has done to the Players Fans & Club is just a low act.Hes the one whos got to look @ himself in the mirror every morning but has probably Ten million reasons to not worry, anyway we have a new coach & i wish Maguire all the success in the world & go the Wests Tigers.

Very good post tigerbenji…I hope others see the situation as you do....calling Ivan names, threatening to humiliate him at games etc etc are signs of emotionally hurt people venting..in the end Ivan was offered a bag load of money as well as the opportunity to coach his son that the WTs couldnt prevent or match...Nathan has been paid a huge amount of money to stay and play with his mates, thats his call and has nothing to do with the WTS,Gould has a lot to do with Ivan defecting to the Panthers as Ivan always wanted to coach Nathan in the future and Panthers wanted the origin half to stay..
A sticky situation, but it is done now and we will welcome Madge to Concorde....some one mentioned Mrs Cleary in a post...to me that is a no go zone the woman should be kept out of it as this media circus must be impacting on her and it would be low of anyone involving her..

Nope…unleash hell...everytime

Since you want to keep going with this. Surprising how no one seems to mind, but everyone was so quick to give me advice about giving it a break.

We are talking about the tigers here mate, tell us the multiple theories that were being branded around. You go round in circles but don’t really offer much of an argument.

You are unbelievable.
Are you seriously not aware of the last 140 or so pages that are dedicated to the subject here, both about us as a club , as well as all the other particements in the coaching version of War and Peace

I’d suggest that you go through the previous pages, and you’ll find plenty of theories about us and everyone else involved
TRY reading some, as it’s clear by your posts that you dont
I gave quotes where possible for most of the points that I made, but I I can’t remember one single quotes from you, just guesses,
Sources aren’t quotes , sources can say anything , just like yourself. .

Mate your sound more and more stupid with every post. Once again I ask you what theories involving the TIGERS are you talking about. There was only one theory going round about Ivan and then it came down to madge or Bennett to coach us. You had your head in the sand through out this whole sage, you now look like an imbecile and your still carrying on. Just put your head between your legs and walk away.

Try reading posts before answering them Moron
Have a niceday

You get the first warning then - grow up or bugger off.

For God's sake, let it go.

Huh.? Where did I say in my post that we were linked to more than two Coaches ( notcounting the one that was here already)

It wasn’t just us, that have turned themselves inside out to try and come out on top.
You obviously haven’t read much of the forum, newspapers, or watched much Tv , if you don’t think that there were daily doses of theories on Coaches movements Club activity , players moving with Coaches etc,

Good to see that you are still trying to push your version of the chronological order of the happenings, your trying hard, but just not really getting there.
Your version makes interesting reading, Pity if someone who was there at the time comes out with their real version,

Since you want to keep going with this. Surprising how no one seems to mind, but everyone was so quick to give me advice about giving it a break.

We are talking about the tigers here mate, tell us the multiple theories that were being branded around. You go round in circles but don’t really offer much of an argument.

You two cut it out or you can both go on mod review.

Yep. No problems!

No worries GEO,you deal with it as you wish,I will take a more understanding position on the matter as I understand blood is thicker than water and money speaks louder than words….its how the NRL operates...

I've just got home from church because I promised God I would go each week if he made sure we didn't hire Bennett as a coach.

I'm still at a loss as to why we contemplated that and my fellow WT supporters who still believe he is the greatest coach ever might wish to read this article….

https://coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/knights/newcastle-regrets-you-too-wayne-fans-furious-with-bennett-remark/news-story/95dae2eb298eefb425122332d415bccf

I've heard all the arguments on this forum and elsewhere, and I'm yet to be convinced that he is so good. Take away the underhanded money and the exclusive use of some of the best cattle in a whole state, and you see no more than any other coach.

Thank you oh Lord.

Thank you oh Lord.

Cant deny Bennetts record, but it cant be denied that the Broncos have provided very well for him.
The Newcastle experience puts things in perspective when considering how he may have worked for us, and if there is any truth in that article it, that type of experience is not one he would sign up fo again, especially in the the twilight of his career.

I will never forget his speech after the Broncos lost to the Cowboys in the Grand Final. The most ungracious and unsportsmanlike like speech I have ever heard.

I agree ….. Thankyou Lord.

Wests Tigers release Ivan Cleary

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the club has released Ivan Cleary from the remainder of his coaching contract.

Cleary was contracted to Wests Tigers until the end of 2020 but has been released immediately.

Wests Tigers Chair Marina Go thanked Cleary for his efforts while at the club.

“On behalf of everyone at Wests Tigers I would like to thank Ivan for the work he did during his time at the club,” said Go. “Ivan oversaw a period of significant change at Wests Tigers and his work will leave a positive impact on the club.”

Wests Tigers will announce the appointment of a new Head Coach shortly.

Thank God it's official at last. Interesting how they split the announcements of Maguire coming and Cleary going. That allowed Pascoe to comment on Maguire but not comment on Cleary. I'd imagine Pascoe couldn't bring himself to say anything positive about Cleary and I don't blame him for that one little bit. I would have preferred Marina Go didn't say anything positive about Cleary because that will aggravate most fans but it is what it is and that part of our history is thankfully over.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that Michael Maguire has been appointed as the club's Head Coach.

Under the new agreement Maguire will take on the Head Coach role for at least the next three seasons.

Maguire, a Premiership winning Head Coach with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Wigan Warriors, is currently in charge of the New Zealand Kiwis side.

Maguire will join Wests Tigers at the end of the Kiwis' Test Series against England.

Wests Tigers Chair Marina Go welcomed Maguire to the club.

"On behalf of everyone at Wests Tigers I'd like to welcome Michael to the club," said Go. "Michael has had success at the highest level and we look forward to having him as a part of Wests Tigers for at least the coming three seasons.

"I'd like to thank our stakeholders and Members for their patience during this process," she said. "This was a situation not of our making but I'm proud of the professional manner that the club has conducted itself and I believe we're now in a very strong position to move forward over the coming years."

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said that he looked forward to having Maguire join the club in the coming weeks.

"Michael is an impressive individual and I look forward to working closely with him over the coming years," said Pascoe. "In all of our discussions he's been professional and has a clear understanding of where we want to take this club and I'm sure that he's the person to lead us to future success both on and off the field.

"Michael has taken sides to Premierships both in Australia and overseas and I look forward to seeing him take our playing squad to the next level," he said.

Never mind the supporters, it’s a bigger slap in the face to the players. Asking them to buy in and commit than scurry away at the first opportunity. And to not show them enough respect to front them in person. Yeah, the players are on their break, but if he really wanted to, he could have asked them to turn up to Concord tomorrow to tell them properly.

Scurry Away. Good wording for Una Grande Ratta. 🐀
