Adam Blair To Broncos (CONFIRMED)

I think the problem lies with the language used by JT. It wasn't simply "we've released some players but we won't rush into making new signings" (an understandable, professional and measured approach) he said "there won't be player signings before the 2015 season". That's a pretty definitive statement with not a lot of room to manoeuvre and has shot the confidence many fans were starting to redevelop with the club.

There was no need to say anything about future signings, and god knows why he did. Still we will be spending the cap (its paid for us so why wouldn't we!) but whether the room freed by departures gets spent on new players or on the front-loading of other players new contracts remains to be seen.

I guess either you believe the man or you don't.

Ban this man! Common sense not allowed.

He's not about to come out and say "yeah we're going to sign Merrin/SKD…"

It's unsurprising clubs are somewhat misleading in regard to their recruitment strategies & targets.

Well, Well, Well.

One minute 90% want Blair to go - Next minute 90% want him to stay.
Sounds like a lot of people don't know what they want.

I don't think this is true.
Most people have been quite happy with his form over the last year and a half, the ones that haven't are those that don't watch the games closely enough or are just on the Blair hate bandwagon because they think it's cool to do so.

Either way, the outcry about him leaving his more to do with who we have (don't have) to replace him with.

People might now realise Blair wasn't on $550k,he was on far less than that, it was a media beat up,and that is why we don't suddenly have $550k to spend.

Of course he wouldn't say that, and that's not what i said…

Rather than saying "we will sign no-one", he could have said "we'll take our time to recruit the right people" and there would be no panic amongst fans right now.

It's not the coaches job to worry about the fans. I'm sure he's more preoccupied with setting the team up the way he wants it, because that is what will govern his long term survival at the club.

Imo Blair leaving is a good thing for us. As for the fact he never got injured enough to stop him playing, doesn't surprise me. I've never seen him put his body truly on the line ( do big hit ups or take big hit ups in defence. He usually arm grabs or is third man in. Alot of the time he went A.W.O.L Missing in action. Sure he did play the ball quickly and put pressure on kickers but apart from that all i will remember him for is his brain snaps and ill discipline. I do believe that JT will bide his time and replace him with someone better. And that wouldn't be hard in my opinion.

I cant believe we have let so many players go also retired . anasta blair fulton koroibete ben Murdock masila Paterson Thompson Austin gavet **naiyaravoro** . people asked to move on brown luani rowe buchanan . we have on our books drinkwater naiqama we need players but I said when taylor was named we have to get behind him and give him a go but as a support iam very disappointed to see so many gone. if we get beat in the first 4 or 5 games just watch the fans drop off and you cant blame them . please buy some player and put bums on seats

How do you include someone who never played fg? The most overhyped player since John Grant

I am so sorry I named naiyaravoro but he would have been better than Paterson and rowe on the wing late in the season do me a favour stop nit picking . I think we are in trouble for next year we need players :bash

Do me a favour, stop being so precious

Then they don't recruit anyone and he looks like a liar and an idiot. He said the right thing about having a recruitment plan in place, give him a chance to implement it. I'm with CB, he owes the supporters nothing in regards to keeping them apprised with every time they fart. Have some patience.

Amen.

Club leaks like sieve, too many rumours and bad information surround the club. Fans request the club plug leaks, shut up shop and not allow media to get carried away.

Club complies, fans demand transparency.

They can't bloody win. I for one am enjoying the fact that the club has closed up a large amount of leaking info. None of us knew about Blair until the day before (unless you're Jerry of course.)

Wests Tigers release Adam Blair
Tue 18th November, 01:50PM

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the Club has granted Adam Blair a release from the final year of his contract.

Blair has played 192 NRL games since debuting for the Melbourne Storm in 2006, with the New Zealand international joining Wests Tigers for the 2012 season.

At Wests Tigers Blair played 71 games, missing just one match during his time at the Club, including not missing a game in the last two seasons, with the 28 year old scoring four tries during that time.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Jason Taylor thanked Blair for his commitment to the Club and wished him well for his playing future.

“On behalf of Wests Tigers I’d like to thank Adam for his effort and commitment both on and off the field during his time at the Club,” said Taylor. “It’s impressive to note that during three seasons with the Club Adam didn’t miss a game through injury, sitting just one out through suspension.

“Adam played an important role in Wests Tigers’ Leadership Group and we wish him the best of luck for the 2015 season and beyond,” he said.

Taylor also stressed that while Wests Tigers had released a number of players since the finish of the 2014 NRL season the Club won’t be making any major signings ahead of 2015.

“By releasing Adam and a couple of other players recently we have had some relief in the salary cap,” said Taylor. “But I need to make it clear this doesn’t mean that we’re going to be signing up players between now and the start of the 2015 season.

“We’re planning for long-term success here and any decisions regarding signing new players will be made with this in mind,” he said. “We have a great group of young players coming through the Wests Tigers system and from what I’ve seen of them so far I’m confident that they will develop into a strong group of NRL players.

“I can assure Wests Tigers Members and supporters that we have a clear recruitment strategy and we are committed to building a successful Club that will challenge for premierships,” said Taylor.

Marina Go on twitter last night stated that we will be spending our full salary cap for 2015\. I assume we weren't over the cap by $1 million, so I expect there will be signings to come.

Pity we aren't spending our full salary cap on players though

Shoes , handbags and cosmetic surgery I reckon

Who's offended… the LEAKS are still getting out as you allude to knowing the Blair situation before it happened .....which is somewhat concerning.....

It's not rocket science guys.

To win a comp, you need skinny years and watershed years. Our best years are going to be in 2 or 3 when our juniors are at the peak of their game.

By releasing players, you can shift backloaded cap to this year and reduce it in the forward years when we are at this peak, maybe signing a couple more game breakers or getting solid depth for our title run.

We know we have issues in this area as happy mentioned tedescco was offered under his current salary for year 1\. Which means we must have had a hell of a lot of back loading.

Blair wasn't going to be the difference to us winning a premiership next year as we weren't going to come close.

JT is being smart. We will not only gain from shifting these payments forward but getting early experience into our juniors.

You never know with the young talent too…they might just outperform expectations. So the year won't be a write off.

I'm extremely happy with the decision. I think everyone will see in time it's part of a larger plan.
