There has not been one single person on this forum asking or wanting Alex Seyfarth to be our starting 2nd rower in 2026 or beyond.
It’s blatantly obvious that Alex Seyfarth is much more comfortable and prefers playing in the middle, BUT was forced to play on an edge for the majority of 2025 as we had nobody else.
We tried replacing him with a young up and comer in Tony Sukkar late in the season, were his stats any better ?
It’s been a very rare occurrence that anyone playing right edge for Wests Tigers over the past couple of seasons has stood out and/or provided decent stats.
KPP will fill the void on the right edge in 2026, he nearly always provides good stats, but will that alone be enough to get us more wins than 2025 ?
Anyone wanting to be critical and basing it on stats, should be basing the stats on time playing in the middle and compare those stats to other fringe bench players playing limited minutes across the NRL.
It’s funny how a player such as Seyfarth often gets praise from ex players commentating on games, yet our own expert fans want to label him as one of our major problems ???

The only time I think he's a problem is when he contributes to a loss mate, my argument is there is a few in front of him at the moment that will be pushing for selection and Benji should be picking the most worthy over the summer.

For me I think he will be down the pecking order after trials.

When people sit back and realise he’s not an edge 2nd rower, realise he’s not a highly paid player, realise he plays with more heart & soul than most of our squad, realise that based on his player salary he will only be our 17th or 18th player in 2026 dependant on form and realise we will not be missing the top 8 in 2026 due to Alex Seyfarth being in our top 30, maybe than we can stop talking about him and focus on the players who will have a big influence on whether or not we make the top 8 in 2026.

I think Seyf can be a dope and we can all agree with the penalties and silliness.

But he's got better each year and has always had a dig.

Hope he can prove a few wrong in a simplified role in 2026.

I was his biggest critic and he has definitely improved....he can take the 17 or 18 Jersey if he stays disciplined

Squad players taking unders to stay does allow the club to sign the pricey marquee players yes it’s true. Take someone like Mitchell Aubusson from the Roosters as an example.

Who are our likely passengers in our top 17 for 2026 in your opinion ?
If we got 2-4 minutes of highlight reels similar to Reece Walsh from our star players every week I’d be ecstatic.

Don’t think we have any . I think richo has done an amazing job filling out the roster . Most except say the wing Craig and Saukuru ( he took a leap last year once permanently moved into the back row ,so if he trains well he could an option by the end of the year ) are definitely playable in nrl . And im talking about players 22-30 . Previous years it was players 15-17. This will be where the most improvement will come from .
Your lack of understanding about what you’re watching , yet having such strong opinions is weird .
It was absolutely no coincidence , that once May was outside luai , that that edge opened up all of a sudden .
Or when toa was in good form down the left there was lots of points . If you carry someone teams don’t respect , they will slide off them , and concentrate their efforts on other players . So funnily this is a seyfarth thread , but so if you’re carrying a busted toa, and seyfarth , who is basically there for defence , teams can move early into Bula and AD/latu, totally killing any chance to create . Sms thing was happening down the other edge when we were lying merry go rounds trying to find combinations , teams where closing down luais space and collapsing round Samuela , limiting his damage with the runs . When we got may , it forced defences to hold up ….and now there was space. It then becomes about taking the right options ..l and wouldn’t you know it , the NSW 6 started to look like it .

Why do you hate him so much .? The issue isn’t he’s shit … cause he’s honestly not . The issue is he’s not a starting nrl middle or edge . Hes exactly what you want from player 16-22 on your roster … any higher for any long periods of time and your team is in trouble , and simply hes not signing onto your team for a roster spot below 22 . This will be the first year since really his rookie year that I think his talent level and the overall depth of the squad should put him exactly where he belongs , end of the bench / 18th man .

How can you forecast what happens over the summer, they might surprise you, new season means a clean slate.
For starters they have size over him which the pack has been screaming out for many seasons.

He was tried at edge and wasn't good enough, you need to take off your rose coloured glasses and be prepared for him not being picked.

His only good quality is his defence yet his stats in that area regressed this season and his side of the field leaked points all throughout the season although that’s not all his fault. The eye test alone shows him losing contact in both attack and defence.

Reality is he would not even be sniffing first grade for a competitive team fighting for a top 8 spot. We are the only club who would’ve given this guy a chance after his second season. I get we've struggled for depth at times but he has been a liability for most of his career yet inexplicably has a cult following on here who were at one point saying we shouldn’t Angus Crichton because we had Alex Seyfarth.

He makes my bench every week but never as a starter (it is not his fault we have bugger all depth)

I remember the Warriors deal but not the Dogs the Warriors was 450K a year for 3 years and he stay for unders I would imagine he would be on around 375K at the Tigers

You really are quite the spin artist. That was in 2023 when he was offered a contract with the Warriors (according to Seyfarth), and it was rumoured that Canterbury were interested, not that he been offered a deal. Canterbury hadn’t played finals since 2016 and wouldn’t again until 2024 while Warriors had only just made their first finals series in 5 years.

So you reckon your weakest players will lose you a game moreso than your strongest players will win you a game ?
It doesn’t work that way for teams such as the Broncos , Panthers, Storm, Raiders or any of the teams that made the top 8 in 2025 for that matter.
All I ever hear is excuses as to why our highest paid players cannot get us enough wins, when will the excuses stop and they actually get us more wins than losses ?

It's not like the amatuer days of the NRL anymore. We saw Samoa vs NZ and Samoa was leading... But weak in the backline. BOOM targetted.

Like you say, it doesn't work that way for the: Broncos, Panthers, Storm and Raiders.
Have you seen their reserve grade? (except Raiders)
Broncos vs Storm 2024 had a game with over 15 players out. It was still like a first grade game with many names stepping up that would walk in on our side. Same with Penrith, they have juniors coming out of everywhere.

Yes our stars own their defense. But we are only as strong as our weakest link! If our winger, Forward or any player can't defend. They will be targetted.

The days where a Fulton or Ellis could defend and tackle on both sides of the field are gone*.


*please no one say "we need more DEPTH" I will scream. We had Staines/Naden/various other fringe grade depth that often did not tackle or hold the line. Yes we need a player outside the 17 that can defend and fill in a gap, Till we get the first grade squad holding the line. no point.
