Absolutely I do . This past season is an exception to the rule , but defence 💯 wins you football matches . We beat the best team in the game 2 years in a row , where our best player on the field as Jackson Hastings and Luke brooks .in back to back years .
Why is that ? Because everyone on those days stayed committed and did their job.
The bulldogs team , 2 years ago wing lambasted as the dumbest waste of money because they went out and got Curran , Hutchinson,Mann etc. then by the end of the year everyone was calling them geniuses and how good their roster was … when it was mostly, and kind of still is outside the pen riff boys and Galvin , journeymen .why ? Bechae they all bought into the system and did their job . Then you could get your cream like Burton and Stephen Chricton to do win the games . But if your carrying a passenger , in nrl teams are too smart and attack it.
Like when we lost to the cowboys that back end of last year .lt wasn’t cause we were shit . It was because all of a sudden our edge was bench players and back rowers, so drink water went after it . We don’t get those injuries , we don’t even come close to losing that game . Your 17th and 18th men on the field are just as important as your best player. Because them doing their job , allows the best players to win the games . Otherwise it’s 40 nil at halftime . Watching this team the last few years surely is exhibit A on this . On paper we had a very serviceable teams from player 1-15. But those last 2 , whether it be carrying a feledy in the centres , or Laurie dropping a million bombs at fullback , or wingers who couldn’t make yardage , or halves who couldn’t do much anything at nrl level like will smith or wakeham ….. it’s a team sport . It’s not the nba where you can pass it to Jordan and let him cook. Stop watching highlight reels nd actually watch the games , because generally guys like Walsh or ponga or whoever will do some cool shit for approx. 3-4 minutes of an 80 min match . those other 77 odd minutes . That’s everyone else in the team.
