Good player does his job, one dimensional. Nothing special. Has he scored a try yet? Seen him offload once.

I missed that offload .. he’s holding us back.
Runs a straight line similar to Martin Lang - boring and predictable, let’s take out the trash.

Would not go that far.

He is a good player and should be in our squad for years to come, but i think he is the type of player that wont win you a game with an offload or braking the line to score a try but he will give you meters and tackles week in week out.

I think @Demps just loves him because of his cultural background.

I so want to see him score a try, 2022 will be his year.

I'm a fan of Twal, a solid player but not the complete player yet. A guy like him is a piece of the puzzle. Every great side had a no frills work-horse who you knew would do a solid job. Defensively, our team sucked as a whole, but the better we get over-all, the less one players' deficiencies will be detrimental to the team.

I was calling for us to sign him when he was in the under 20s.

He had a lot of talent, unlike guys like James Roumanos and Kayne Kalache... Twal has looked the real deal since early days.

I back the lebz of course but he's the cream of the crop, along with AD... clear as day.

The method in Madges coaching is to give the guys with skill, ability and talent to play in a couple of positions to give them that bit of versatility needed in the NRL arena...
people critised Madge for playing Alex at lock instead of prop,he put Adam in the centres to give him time in that position...sometimes coaches work this way so the talented guys can get as much experience as they can get so if injuries happen we have more players to slot into positions needed...
Its rugby league,of course you have your specialist positional players but I bet even they had games in other positions as they were learning....its not a bad thing when you are developing a youthful squad...

Season Snapshot: Alex Twal

Alex Twal is a wall in defence and a workhorse with ball in hand.

Across 23 matches this season, the reliable forward missed just 13 tackles at an average of just 0.6 a game.

In fact, Twal didn’t miss a tackle in his final seven games of the season, with his last defensive slip-up coming in the first weekend of July.

The 25-year-old is the type of player others want to play alongside — rock solid in defence and doesn’t back down when on the attack.

He ran for a total of 2740 metres this season at an average of 119.1 per game, and he also recorded 26 tackle-breaks along the way.

However, there still is one thing missing from Twal’s resume — that elusive first try in the NRL.

He got close to the line on a number of occasions throughout the year, but still doesn’t have a four-pointer following 89 games in the top grade.

After another great season in 2021, Twal will be ready to back it up again when he returns to pre-season training in November.

WHAT WAS SAID
It’s been a pretty smooth transition coming from NSW and all the boys are taking it in their strides. There’s a lot of gratitude. The boys are really happy for the game to be still going ahead considering the situation NSW are in at the moment.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCE
Twal had a night to remember when Wests Tigers hosted Penrith at Leichhardt Oval in in Round 13.

A standout in both attack and defence, not only did Twal run for 174 metres (75 post contact), but he also recorded four tackle-breaks and 42 tackles with an efficiency of 97.7 percent during his 76-minute performance.

Twal’s efforts helped the home side walk away with a 26-6 victory.

2022 FORECAST
If the new season started tomorrow, you can be assured Twal would be eager and ready to go.

As one of the senior players in the squad, Twal is an integral member of the team and will use his leadership and experience to help the emerging players in 2022.

You can expect much of the same from him next season — he’ll run hard and barely miss a tackle.

I reckon he is way down the list of blokes who we need to move on. When he takes the field we know exactly what we are going to get. He always delivers to that promise. He is a solid 7 every game. He doesn’t turn in 4s and 5s like the rest do.

He isn't a star but he is a quality first grader.

I hope he scores the winning try that finally gets us into the semifinals next year😂

I see so many writing this bloke off. I would love to see him develop an offload into his game but he's a great addition to the team. Rolls up his sleeve & does the hard yards. That tackle efficiency is incredible at that level too. Hopefully he's a long term prospect for the club. Rate him highly.

He's my first picked every week. Best defender in the team. He's not as explosive as Mikaele or Stef but he works hard on and off the ball.

I like Twal but he also has the worst strike rate for the opposition getting away offloads in our pack..Needs to improve stopping the opposition getting 2nd phase play..they all do..

His work rate is 2nd to none though..

congratulations Alex & Gabriella on your engagement.

Or not offloading to a support player steaming through with the line wide open when we’re behind by 2 points with 10 seconds remaining in the game
