Ava - Sharks -[Official]...

One thing that was mentioned when Cleary first came on board was he was excellent at roster management. Maybe Ava just wanted more than Cleary thought he was worth simple as that, maybe Ava just wanted a fresh start.
Who knows he had an offer on the table and if he's declined it so be it, the bus still rolls on.

I don't think we will miss his 10 runs per game for 85 metres.

Better options out there. Clearly will be looking for big improvement from pack.

As reported first by @BuzzRothfield, I'm hearing @Cronulla_Sharks are closing in on the signature of @WestsTigers forward Ava Seumanufagai.

Possibly clearing space for Packer.

I would prefer to have Ava in our team than Packer. Ava has more upside as well.
The only thing the "squat and cough" bloke has over Ava is aggression. Otherwise Ava is the better player IMO.

Maybe that's exactly your point.

When was the last time you saw a Wests Tiger charge full-tilt into the opposition line like a Ruben Wiki hitup? Ambling up can get the job done half the time, doesn't worry the opposition at the try line and doesn't put fear into them.

Even blokes like Darius Boyd take more aggressive hitups than most of our blokes.

Not sure that players actually fear opposition players running at them at pace TBH. They are more likely to be worried about a bloke with a step at the line or deft offload.
Not sold on Packer, but if Ava has the desire to leave then so be it. One positive with Packer at our club we would save on watering the training paddock if soiling himself on-field is still part of his routine.

Well fear of being hurt, or fear of letting a player gain metres?

Hard runners
Papalii, JWH, Cordner, Matulino, Bromwich, Junior Paulo, Ryan James, Sam Burgess, Frizell, Wade Graham, Vatuvei, Radradra, Koroibete, Hurrell

Amblers / footwork
Woods, James Graham, Matt Scott, Tamou, Merrin, Napa, Tolman, Blair, Mannah, Tohu Harris, Shannon Boyd, Josh Jackson, Nofo, Val Holmes, Mannering

Which group is the "fear" group?

I ain't going to be losing any sleep. Seumanufagai is soft. When compared to some of the young guys at Cowboys, Storm and even Titans. Really this is no big deal. I don't care how much he was on.

If we now have the Grub and going after Packer why not go after Lodge and go all out to be a dirty grubby team

The single most replaceable asset on an NRL roster is bench props. I've not seen anything out of Seumanafagai that makes me think he's got more than a hundred other guys that can be picked up on the cheap. He's fine, and if he goes good luck to him. But I seriously doubt we'll end up massively regretting letting him go.

To be fair to Reynolds he's not been associated with anything too unpleasant off the field. I'm not especially fussed about guys who play close to the line provided they don't hurt the team through penalties and suspensions. It's the off-the-field stuff I don't like.

One thing I guess you can say about Packer is that he's done his time. Personally I don't believe people should lose their ability to make a living after doing whatever punishment the courts hand out, so while I don't love the idea of the Tigers signing him I'm not fundamentally opposed to the idea of him being in the game.

I've also said on here before that I'm pretty unbothered by recreational drugs as more than a slap on the wrist/fine/short ban issue, provided everyone close to the situation is comfortable that "recreational" is an appropriate word.

Where I personally draw the line is the wife beaters. I think the Tigers handled the Robert Lui situation perfectly and I'd really, really struggle if they signed someone like Auva'a. These guys pay little or no penalty in the courts and allowing them back into the game sends a really crap message when it's also trying to promote "women in league". It's like: we know what this guy did but he got away with it in the legal system, so we're going to turn a blind eye. Not cool.

I think Ivan clearly has a plan which started long before Taylor actually got the sack.

Like others have said I like Ava but don't think we lose much if he goes, it might just give one of the younger guys a chance to step up into that role and to be honest if Tatola or Felise got the nod to replace him on the bench then happy days.

This is obviously on the assumption that we are still going to pick up another experienced Prop, if that isn't on the cards then I think we should be trying to keep him providing we aren't paying overs.

I do remember when MMM were interviewing Kelly Egan he did say that they have tabled an offer to Ava and they were just waiting for him to sign, so maybe he don't want to stay, anyway he is a good player but if he don't want to stay and take a better offer some where else, good luck to him

Agree with this. He is replaceable and honestly if he moves on, might even give JJ a better chance to prove himself.

I hope he re-signs with us. Does a solid job, good defender, quick play the balls and wouldn't be on huge $. I would move Grant on before Ava.

When is Tatola going to be given a run, far more upside to him than Seumanufagai.

You mean more upside in reggies.

You do not have an NRL comparison. He may be a total dud.

I'd let Grant go before Ava.

How many better props are there available better than Ava by the way?

I prefer Ava over Grant but looking at 2017 stats, Grant is doing better statistically.

Ava:
Avg 23 Tackles, 11 Hitups, 93 Metres

Grant:
Avg 29 Tackles, 11 Hitups, 100 Metres
