Ava - Sharks -[Official]...

He's a worker. You need a balance of workers and impact players in your pack. Woods, Grant, Felise and Ava are all workers. Ava is a solid no frills prop. Every side needs a player like that on like 200k. If he wants more than that you can replace him.

Ava doesn't bend the line doesn't break tackles doesn't offload. Makes about 9m a hit up. You can find someone to do that for 85k

Not someone we should get caught in a bidding war for. Solid but average with nothing that shows him to be better than a number of forwards that would kill for the opportunities he has had

I reckon you're selling him short there Gun. He might not be a world-beater but he usually doesn't get owned and he works hard when on the field, backs up and has a bit of speed about him. He has gradually improved and no reason that won't continue.

That's because he does the tough hit ups. He doesn't return the ball from kick offs or is given the ball when the opposition are backpedaling

For what its worth, im hearing Ava **doesn't** want to leave the Wests Tigers.

Well he has a contract offer so unless the amount is insulting to him, I would think we would have every chance of retaining him.

Like I've said, I just listen to the analytics (it's what I'm used to doing) can't be paying overs for him on sentiment. His numbers aren't flattering for a starting prop.

Going off the analytics then SG, which props are worth a look? (providing Woods, Ava and Grant all leave and Packer falls through)

Agreed i like Ava but its probably because like many you develop a soft spot for certain players, but all NRL clubs would crunch the numbers when looking at signing and re signing but that doesnt necessarily show up the 1%er's.

On another note anything else in the pipeline's for us in the way of signings, very boring signing no one today

Depends on what Cleary is after. From the looks of the back row set up tigers literally have 3 x 80 minute players there so that opens up lots of flexibility for Ivan up front.

Pulu or paasi would be nice additions both can play middle or edge.

Solomona,Lawrence, ofahengaue or lillyman would be good additions as well though solomona will come at a cost.

Outside that Rochow, stockwell or Patrick kafusi would be handy pickups at low cost.

Personally I'd love to see tigers have a good tilt at Asiata to give them some diversity in their back row though.

Ava is a solid player and I would prefer him to stay however if he gets a better offer I am happy for him to take it. We can replace him and he's not going to have big big money thrown at him so it all counts

I would be beating the storms offer to Solemona. He is exactly what we need and would prove to be a massive coup. Would be one of our biggest signings ever, literally.

8\. Russell Packer
9\. Matt Mcilwrick
10\. Ben Matulino
11\. Nelson Asofa Solemona
12\. Chris McQueen
13\. Elijah Taylor

14\. Jesse Sue
15\. JJ Felise
16\. Michael Chee Kam
17\. Jacob Liddle

That would be our best forward pack EVER.

The thing with it is also the following would be their salary (aprox)

Packer (380), Matulino (475), Mcilwrick (250), Solemona (600), McQueen (400), Taylor (300), Sue (300), Felise (200), Chee Kam (275), Liddle (275).

3.5 million for your whole forward pack is not much at all. Especially considering we have Brooks/Reynolds on 1.2 combined. That leaves approx 5mil to fill the rest of your squad.

Being generous on the mcilwrick and liddle salaries too. Probably wouldn't get solomona for under 750k though. He will have offers coming out his a-hole. Tigers are offering in the 425k range for packer. Dragons about to extend Vaughn and have upped Dugans offer so massive chance packer does sign if dragons are well off the mark with their offer.

I go after James Graham I think he would come over here to be with Josh.
Seeing him on 360 and the news he's devastated about loosing JR.

Would you pay 750k for Nelson?

I think 425 for Packer is decent. That would be including TPA so he would really be on 390ish.

He would need to increase his hit up rate but everything else says he's worth it. Tackle breaks, offloads, play the ball wins he's in the very upper echelon of props.

If he was from any other club I'd say 100% but storm are such a systematic club that players often drop off when leaving there it's a tough one

Never been fussed about Ava and dont see what many others see to be honest. I think he is an interchange forward on his absolute best day.

Most of the time i think he is a bit soft for his size. Doesnt run with much oomph (technical term) and just generally looks to be going at 80%.

Good luck to him. Seeya.
