Balmain hijack Wests Tigers Gala Ball night

Is there a reason the Maggies can't have their Hall of Fame night on the same night as well?
If it's because they choose not to then you have to look at the 'hijacking ' in a different perspective.
That would mean that Balmain has embraced the joint venture by holding it's important event at a joint venture function
That would then imply Wests want to keep their traditional night completely separate from the joint venture evening.
That's fine and they are entitled to their choice - but which part of the joint venture doesn't seem to want to share its past with the future?
Looking from outside the answer to that question is simple - Western Suburbs.
Over the years I have been one of the most fanatical and one- eyed Balmain supporters ever put on Earth but I'm happy to embrace Wests past into the new club.
Let's face it - no matter what anyone would like to change WestsTigers is a done deal.
Time to live with it.

totally agree,im a bit over this us against them Bull…t

He's only looking out for the Magpies and wants them to be as important as Balmain are in the JV.As for the Sheens vandetta, well when you have a coach who has been in control of a side for almost 10 yrs and have only made two finals appearences,i think that coach deserves critisim,as does the club for continously persisting with him.IMO there is a lot of truth in what Bug says, but i guess a lot of it has to do with which side of the fence you come from

bug's rant is hiding the real truth, the fact that the head honchos at Wests are poor managers who are crying foul* because Balmain are always one step ahead of them at every turn. What bug really wants to say is that Wests have been embarrassed time and time again by better management, planning and coordination by a vastly under-resourced Balmain team.

This isn't new for Wests though, but their supporters keep trying to blame others without blaming the real people responsible, that being the people at Western Suburbs who have year after year, decade after decade, failed to fix the problems that exist at the core. First it's the ARL's fault, then it's News Limited's fault, now it's Sheens.

It's sad though because everyone here wants both sides to succeed so we should all be feeling the same way as Bug, but I have no sympathy for anyone or anything that can't get their own act sorted first**.

Football Darwinism at its finest.

*bug seems to be the only one crying foul actually. I haven't seen Wests crying anywhere, just their fan and/or fans.
**we are assuming that everything bug says is gospel and that there is a hidden agreement signed between Camp Concord and Waterloo Street to undermine Wests & get Balmain back in the top grade

umm wests is very poorly run because our junior and senior numbers are rising every year and our rep teams (sg ball and harold mmatthews) both made the semis.most of the Wests tigers juniors are coming thru wests side oh and wests is still called wests.Balmain is so well run because they have no a grade competition no rep teams making semis and they had to take half of wests players for nsw cup.On top of this the manchester united half of the joint venture "balmain" are so well run they are no longer balmain they are ryde eastwood which in reality is nowhere near balmain. :roll

Another Wests versus Balmain thing, when we are over ten years into the (so-called) joint venture. Originally, I was a Wests Magpies fan, but since the start of the joint venture I have been a Wests TIGERS supporter. This does not mean I forget all of the good (AND BAD) times for my team for the over 50 years I followed them. I remember sitting at Pratten Park with Keith Holman and his family on many occasions. My wife and my parents sat through the 1961, 1962 and 1963 Grand Finals in the old Brewongle Stand and then commiserated with the players at the Western Suburbs Club afterwards. Lidcombe Oval brings back many memories, because I played junior League there and spent many a Sunday afternoon watching Donnelly, Boyd, Kelly, Dorahy etc. I had prime-position season tickets to Orana for many years and lived MANY lows and some very high highs, when we sneaked an occasional win.
NOW, I am a Wests Tigers supporter, as are all my family and we are proud of it! I am sick of the Wests-Balmain squabbles, as it will NEVER go back to what it was.

There's a difference between producing good junior talent and managing a successful club off the field.

& Kul… Lock thread?
Tell him to pue Bug on the foe list if he hates his posting so much.
I made a thread about Alien & it was locked within an hour.
Lets put an end to this one too.

If this thread is a reactionary response to the Gala Ball thread, Bug started that thread and it was a viable topic related to Wests and Balmain. Hardly hijacking a thread.

If Bug's zealotry annoys the bejesus out of you, set him to foe and you won't have to read his posts. Problem solved.

Yep. These threads are poor form.

There is nothing wrong with the thread. Going by the topic and insinuation, if you can't discuss you grievances with the merger in this thread, then where can you?

Despite our love for this discussion, this entire thread can be resolved with a simple phone call to Wests Tigers, Balmain and Western Suburbs.

BB, So whats new? Been happening for years. Admin office, training, player apparel etc. Balmain has identified that the only way to keep some sort of an identity is through the Wests Tigers - not really rocket science to realise that! No coincidence they get most of the benefit from the Wests Tigers. Well done to Balmain on this decision.

Wests on the other hand tend to walk on a different path.. (some might say they Walk Alone  ) .. maybe with the new board they will work closer with the Wests Tigers (though promises have been made in the past)

… and yes a Wests Tigers gala event incorporating all three entities every couple of years would be great. :sign:

Yout post has nothing to do with the running of the club does it and fancy you guys mentioning ryde as not near balmain i think pratten parks comments are interesting and very true.

How about this for a change of perspective. The joint venture is a homecoming. Wests Tigers have based themselves at Concord Oval, once known as St Lukes. Western Suburbs Magpies played 34 games at St Lukes between 1910 and 1942\. Concord as a home base is within the traditional western suburbs magpies area, close to our two spiritual homes, Pratten Park at Ashfield (where we played 320 games between 1912 and 1985, winning 178), and Lidcombe Oval (where we played 199 games between 1951 and 1986, winning 107 matches).

Now you call c-town home no where near your heartland.haha

How does one hijack a thread they have started?

It is like a pilot taking off on a flight to Sydney and then saying, "I am hijacking this plane and I am going to land it in Sydney."

Two threads were merged and know it doesn't make sense however Bug will get more posts within this thread.
