20 years guys! Shot at a finals birth at a packed ground with folks that support your team and people are posting shit stiring articles, how much white is is the jersey or if the apostrophe is in the logo.

I have thought this for a while but I think we ( any fans pre merge) have to literally die off before this conversations go the way of Balmain / western suburbs-extinct.

Change like this takes a generation. We are almost there.

G'day @jirskyr: good on yuh for noticing Freddy calling our club "Balmain"...it ain't.
Did anyone notice you calling our club the Tigers'...again it ain't.
It's the Wests Tigers.
Have a great day and enjoy the footy on Sunday...I'm excited already :relaxed: :v:

Well when you read articles like the one Ink posted above, and Freddy calling them Balmain, that’s hard to swallow.

What is it about the article, I don't see any issue?

Leichhardt is Balmain's spiritual home. Literally, in spirit, because Balmain Tigers don't have a senior side and don't play there any more.

The paper was smart enough not to say "Wests Tigers' spiritual home ground", because it isn't. This weekend will be our 81st JV match at LO; we've already played 81 at Campbelltown. But obviously that is no more striking than the 85 matches we've played at ANZ and 42 at SFS. In that regard, WT don't really have a "spiritual" home as such.

And I agree with @cochise, Freddy is a boofhead of the highest order, I can't see why people would make a fuss about his slip-ups and mistakes. There'd be a lot of fuss being made ultimately, because the man is happily playing the buffoon every week.

Yes the article articiulated it correctly - Leichardt is the spiritual home of Balmain as stated - not Wests Tigers - and that is where the game is being played. If anything those irritated by Leichardt referred to as Wests Tigers home ground should be applauding the article.

That's silly. It's Tigers and Wests and Wests Tigers.

I have read a number of posts here about LO being Balmain's spiritual home but it is not the spiritual home of the Wests Tigers.

The article above says that and people are still complaining about the inaccuracy.
Can't have it both ways.

Whilst on inaccuracy - I believe that the JV chose the WT colours from a combination of Western Suburbs black and white and Balmains black and gold. So it became black, white and gold. Where does the orange come from?
**> Balmain never played in orange or any derivative of orange.
>**
So old Wests supporters get upset about WT being called Balmain.
Old Balmain supporters get upset about WT wearing orange and not gold.

That is 50/50 so I guess it is all good.

You cant be serious 😒

I don’t care one bit if they call us Balmain by mistake.

Yeah, perhaps, but it does irritate me just a little. It's shoddy journalism. Balmain hasn't played in the NRL for almost two decades. How hard is it for professional journo's to stay up to date.

Would yo be upset if they called us the magpies.

If it was an honest mistake it wouldn't worry me.

The irony.
They may have called it black.and gold but it was definitely orange

Officially, black and gold. Same as Rabbits aren't red and green, they are cardinal and myrtle.

I however wouldn't be taking the piss of trying to say that the orange in the current jersey isn't sufficiently equivalent to the "orange version of gold" that Balmain ended the 90s with.

I do wish we had a more predominantly orange jersey for the away, which we seemed to have moved away from in recent years. It's now black with some orange stripes, and white with some orange stripes. But that's just personal preference, not really fussed. I am ok that they amalgamated into a single heritage jersey this year.

Balmain were always gold to me.

Not orange.

Anyway - Lets get back on topic, shall we instead of you trying to rev me up.

Last word is - it angers me as much as certain things anger the other side of the JV. We all have our gripes - not much we can do about it - Let's move on and back the WT on Sunday.

Very well said @diedpretty: and GNR4LIFE also. All I can say now is...
enjoy the footy on Sunday :v: :relaxed:

Team song is, Who are, who are we? Wests Tigers. I’ll go with that.

Wiser post. Thanks, Oldprop... some of the dribble on this thread is absolute nonsense/splitting hairs over an orange colour and what shade it is then coming up with the decision we have always been “Black and Gold”... like a literal homebrand version of an NRL club. Idiotic!

Always been orange and black (V); and obviously the white from the Magpies running strongly and ever present through the current jersey themes... seriously if that is the level of complaints or people wasting time discussing it then we’re really in a great position going forward...
