Benji Marshall and his silly PowerBalance bands

They were also an official NSW Origin sponsor (+ numerous other teams and players) in 2010 - there is no probity issue with that!

If Longmuir was still there they probably would have been our major sponsor out of neccessity - as he had serious issues in establishing/maintaining sponsor relationships (he accepted reductions to our Proton deal in breach of the original contract)!

What did Noyce oversee - Herbalworld - Radisson Maine (two crooks) and even JFTA in 2005 was our last option?????

I just didn't understand the need for your snide reference to "the great man" ink!

You look at our past history and it is hard to argue Noyce is good at developing sponsorship! He even needed Nine boss Dave Gyngell to intervene and bring Steggles to the Roosters in 2010!!!

I like Noycey - he is a good bloke - but is far from a top-class business performer!

LOL

Forever an ''us' & "them" issue for many still

Let go….................

PS - If you want to claim Longmuir as one of yours (Magpies) - please do - you can have him!!!

I thought he came from 8 years as Marketing Manager for the Sharks (another of his great success stories)!!

As for the Tigers and Sharks - I will retain an "us versus them" mentality until I die!!!

Talking about "now" snide….not the past.

Some seem to think Humph walks on water...he's human, thats all....just trying to paint a more accurate picture, I like what hes doing but he like no human's infallible

edit+
I'm a Wests Tiger snide....I'll shout you a chardy next year...merry xmas :supporter:

Mate - if you saw Humphreys play in the 80s you'd know he was far from perfect and I agree that some are placing him on an undue pedestal. But he is highly competent and is shaping as the best administrator the club has seen!

Cheers for the chardy - but I'll have a gin & tonic!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Regards,

Redemption

I know it's difficult for some but please stick to the topic or the thread will close.

On topic - I'll reiterate - why did the ACCC target Powerbalance and not all bands of this nature (i.e. EFX) who have also advertised their product locally through RLW??

This is just the start Snide.
The skeptical community (eg NESS) will use this finding to help spread the truth about such shonky products.

GOOD - I am far from a supporter of / or believer in these products - but as you know - I did not feel that it was appropriate to attack sportsmen who either believe in the product (in a placebo sense) or take them on board for commercial reasons!

I hope EFX cop a similar indictement!

PS - Redemption is the name you were looking for!!!!

Because the ACCC is making a judgement based on the claims made in advertising, they are not saying it is illegal to sell or market them. I've not seen the ads for EFX but I'm guessing they are a bit smarter in how they sell their product. If you read the ACCC media release they take issue with a number of specific claims made in the advertising of power balance thingies. The normal procedure of the ACCC is to respond to spicific products and advertising rather than taking a broad swipe at a particular industry althugh they do note in the release they have taken action with other products.

However, if you have an issue with the EFX bands, raise it with the ACCC. Anyone is able to write to the ACCC with a complaint and they are obliged to look into any complaint.

As I stated in a previous post Yoss - EFX have taken out full-page advertisements in RLW (who also had giveaways for the bracelets) this year - proclaiming the benefits of their "embedded holographic technology". The use of "technology" alone is enough to determine its advertising to be as misleading as that of PowerBalance!

I WILL AGAIN STATE THAT I BELIEVE THE ENTIRE NOTION OF A HOLOGRAM CHANNELING ENERGY ETC IS A LOAD OF COMPLETE CRAP!

PLACEBIC EFFECTS/SUPERSTITION ARE UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL!

Like I said, write an email to the ACCC.

Cheers Yossarian! I just don't like the ACCC targetting a single brand when there are others that are equally impeachable!

Merry Christmas!

PS - Sorry to again go off topic Willow!

No worries. As a former employee of the ACCC (a long time ago) I know their work never ends. Everytime you shut down one shonk there's another 2 ready to take their place. Some of these people need some gaol time not just fines.

Merry Christmas to you too.

Thought I might bump this thread again.

Even while PowerBalance are being sued in the Californian courts in a class action lawsuit, even while endorsers Shaquille O'Neal and Lamar Odom are being sued for endorsing the fake products, even while the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) have outed them as a sham and even after PowerBalance admit that they lied:

In our advertising we stated that Power Balance wristbands improved your strength, balance and flexibility.
>
We admit that there is no credible scientific evidence that supports our claims and therefore we engaged in misleading conduct in breach of s52 of the Trade Practices Act 1974.
>
If you feel you have been misled by our promotions, we wish to unreservedly apologise and offer a full refund.

…then why is [our club](http://www.weststigers.com.au/default.aspx?s=official-tigers-partners) and why are our players still associating themselves with this company?

![](http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/4/2011/01/screen_shot_2011-01-03_at_5.01.23_pm.png)

C'mon Tigers! C'mon Benji! rip that contract up today!

it could be old though…

It seems as though it isn't updated for 2011 (or fully updated), as the 'joint major sponsors' are still proton and MKB; where as it should be Meriton. I agree, send a contructive letter to Wests Tigers regarding this matter.
