Brooks & Moses on the way out..?

Wests Tigers legend Benny Elias says James Tedesco could follow Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses exit

WESTS Tigers legend Benny Elias has slammed his beloved club for failing to tie up Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses for the long-term and says James Tedesco could be next out the door if they don’t re-sign the young halves.

Tedesco was one of the few shining lights for the Tigers in a dismal 2015 season after nearly walking out on the club to join the Raiders a year earlier.

Elias describes the three young stars, who have been built up as the future of the club, as “thick as thieves” and says a carefully conceived plan to shape the roster around them could completely crumble if the Tigers can’t get their act together, and fast.

“They are at Mitch’s place every day, they are as thick as thieves the three of them,” Elias, who is also Moses’ uncle, told foxsports.com.au.

“Tedesco will go where these two blokes go, I’ll tell you.

“If it wasn’t for the bonding with Mitch and Luke, I reckon Tedesco would have been in Canberra this year, and where would we be without him?

“It’s a massive blow if they leave.

“They are the backbone, they are the future of the club and that’s what the spectators are waiting to see.

“Then you’ve got Aaron Woods, four kids.

“You give Craig Bellamy four kids and he builds a whole side around them.

“If the club is going to do anything they must keep these kids.”

Elias’ comments come amid speculation Brooks and Moses are delaying a contract extension with the Tigers.

The two young playmakers are off contract at the end of 2016 but have a clause in their favour which would extend their deals until the end of the 2017 season if activated.

The deadline to activate the clause was originally January, but it was reported this week the pair have requested the deadline be pushed back to June.

It’s a worrying sign for the Tigers, who have offloaded a number of players over the past two years in order to keep Brooks and Moses locked down.

Blake Austin left for Canberra last year, Marty Taupau has now gone to Manly, and just a few months ago Robbie Farah revealed he had been told he would play reserve grade if he didn’t leave the club — partly to clear some additional room in a heavily loaded salary cap.

Tigers coach Jason Taylor and Luke Brooks.
But Elias says it’s the actions of past administration — as well as some tough calls by coach Jason Taylor — at the Tigers that have left some of the players disenchanted.

“It’s disappointing, and it’s basically a product of what’s happening off the football field,” Elias said.

“It’s like a tsunami has gone through the joint.

“This bloke (new CEO Justin Pascoe) has now taken up that position and he’s copping it, he’s got to rebuild the whole place because it’s a disaster.

“I think the new CEO is a very good start, I think he’s a very reasonable fella.

“The coach comes out and says Robbie Farah is playing reserve grade next year, then first session back you stand next to Robbie Farah, does the coach think you’re aligned with Robbie Farah instead of him?

“It’s things like that that will not make it a better club.”

Elias clarified that 21-year-old Moses wants to remain at Concord if the club can get back on track.

Tedesco, 22, is contracted to the Tigers for two more years, as is 24-year-old Woods.

Benny Elias should keep his mouth shut and stay out of it.

He has already done enough damage to the Balmain Leagues Club and in turn has got the Balmain Football Club in trouble.

We do NOT need him undermining what the WT are doing.

Rack off Benny - you are a light of other days.

Not sure if this has been mentioned (the threads are long in the off season) but surely Brooks and Moses want to play together? If so, which clubs are in the position to pick up both? Let alone teddy

Newcastle

Farah and taylor have thrown away their differences. hopefully good news for the half backs and the younger players as well

Taylor was asked by Gibbs about his relationship with Brooks and Moses. That the question was asked was enough.

Umm…Given the Weidleresque 9 exclusive and it being all through the Media for the past 2 days...Why wouldn't he be asked....?

Gibbs wouldn't rely on Weidler's information.

Weidler's information is no worse than the line being pushed on this forum by JT lovers about WTtown being the land of milk and honey.

So Cherrington, Moses and Brooks all off contract in 2017.

I read an article where woods was asked about Farah. The fact the question was asked says it all really.
:unamused:
The crap you come up with paws makes me think you are weedler

Cherrington Moses and Brooks are off contract 2016….

Still don't see how that relates to ....That the question was asked was enough....that was asked by Gibbs...?

Right, and you're the pillar of objectivity…

More rumours and innuendo. Some of you people would believe anything. They are both under contract, as is Teddy ( for two more years).

People who believe this crap really should get out more.

The problem with getting out more is that we might bump into you, magpiecol. And, for any of us with any sort of intellect, that will be a waste of time.

In politics the term is "wedging". Brooks and Moses have "wedged" Jason Taylor and the Board who endorses his coaching role at the club.

Talk about "player power' and linking it to Farah?. that's kid's stuff by comparison to this move by Brooks and Moses.

They have not put themselves under the microscope but have really upped the ante on the future of Taylor.

To ask for an extension till June next year before activating that clause on your Contract for 2017 ? doesn't speak well for Jason Taylor IMO…..they both know JT is contracted for 2017 so if they wanted to be Coached by him and believe what his trying to implement ? you wouldn't even ask for an extension on activating your Contract for 2017 .

These players know exactly what's going on and i dare say there waiting to see what transpires with the Farah situation and whether Jason Taylor will see the door before June if we are under the pump.

A big possibility of a salary cap increase once the tv deal is finalized probably has more to do with it.

Honestly if you aren't excited about next year you're nuts. If the players in the team can't sense the change and aren't excited for the new look Tigers then show them the door. I don't care who it is. There hasn't been a bigger influx of new talent in this side literally since inception.

i am excited but it seems no one else is.

Honestly the only thing we need is for Brooks and Moses to improve imo. If they become the talents they are predicted to be we are a major, major force.

They've been smart and wedged the one you adore so much. I can't wait to see how this plays out because Taylor has been neutered. Very funny indeed.

Exactly LCA
They've done it well though. .
Whatever happens, they win.
You have to admire their manager though, considering that they're still only" Potential"
He's put them in the box seat

How do we know that that is a major consideration?
They may prefer to, but in the end , their manager would be trying to get the best deal for both of them. And if that's at two clubs, then that's probably what they'll probably go for.
They both Would be a lot better if they were both at a different club with a good experienced halves partner beside them.
Which is what should happen with Rookie halves anyway.

Doesn't this show that our admin is still pathetic, the CEO should never of signed off on this. Why would you give an employee all the power and still expect them to tow the line. They should have been signed to a 200k contract for 3 yrs with a 100k incentive for making the finals. I personally would not care if we breached the salary cap and lost all our points as long as we start winning. Keeping te Marie Martin might have put the wind up these guys too but the club is doing everything for these 2 overpriced under achieving reserve graders. We never should have got rid of Austin.

Unfortunately we have put all our eggs in the one basket with these 2 Guys and past Management being Gullible .
We have lost some talent in like you said Te Marie Martin and Austin in the process while we wait for Brooks and Moses to become the talent we are led to believe and to do it on a consistent basis.

Also there not under pressure to perform as they have had there positions sown up ever since coming into 1st Grade and maybe there is complacency .
