Yes / no / maybe ?

Was wondering…

Bodene started his career at center and people on here spoke about Lawrence and in the past... Ayshford moving to the second row as they wern't up to it at center.

Tony Williams?

Who do you think could successfully make this move from any club?
and
Who has done it in the past and did well?

Idris could move to 2nd row easily in theory, but I don't think he has the heart or work rate for it to be a resounding success. Conrad Hurrell could probably fill in at 2nd row easily too. He doesnt have the conventional 2nd rower's physique, but he's very powerful.

I hold out hope that Lawrence could make the move, but I dont know if that's realistic or just my compassionate side hoping for the best for him. I have always like him, but its hard to believe that he will be holding down a centre spot in 2 or 3 years time.

Beau Scott went from a nuffy centre to become a SOO second rower, ditto for Luke Lewis (although he wasn't a nuffy centre) - that's a couple I can think of.

I'd like to see how Lawrence would go there. He is only what 24/25? I think it would be too early to write him off as an NRL player altogether, but a good centre, he is no more.

John Ribot went the other way…backrow/lock to wing...very succesfully

my question is - who put a winger in the back row - it wasn't Masters.

Noel Kelly moved John Elford from the wing to second row and he went on to play for Australia.

I'm not sure if it was Kelly or Don Parish that moved Elford to the second row?

Tim Sheens moved from wing to prop over his career.
Ben Smith did it recent.
Chris McKenna did it and became an Australian player.
Simon Mannering.

Idris looks likely to move in shortly

John Ribot made his mark at Wests.
The rest is history.
And thanks guys up there in the history dept. Much appreciated.

John Ribot played his first game on the Wing for Newtown Versus Balmain @ Henson Park.

TB was that by any chance a midweek game ??

The old man let me stay up and watch the game and I distinctly remember asking about the De Bresac Esq

He was the top try scorer in the BRL the season previous (at lock ) and scored a try in the GF

But we won't bring that up again , Watto won't be happy

John Muggleton certainly kicked on after the move, becoming one of the best back rowers in the game (if not the best) for a few years. Sadly he took the cash and moved on from the old Tigers as they were experimenting with the change.
