Chammas Article

They only have 2 seats on the board now, and I just read the other day , that’s the wests rep is n ex player who wasn’t apart of the bullshit shenanigans that went on last year re. Julie and her coup , only to get stabbed by Denny boy and his coup on the coup . He’s still on the board though … unfortunately.
They haven’t made a single decision yet . The proof will be when / if they replace benji and richo in the coming years . We will know then if we have made the right decisions .
Just seems like an endless circus that organisation.

I am not implying they do. But it is an interesting argument to delegate blame lower than where the buck ultimately stops when we have rotated through 6 coaches and 4 CEOs since we last made the finals.

But they don't have to in order for them to wear blame.

If I worked for a company and discovered the owner was a dribbling idiot that consistently makes dumb decisions and verifiably has no idea how to operate the company properly my morale would be effected. I would expect many others would too. Performance is affected by many things but not having alignment with your ultimate owner is one of the biggest.

Compare how Wests Tigers football staff, coaches and players would view "The Holman Barnes Group" compared to how other clubs football departments view their owners. How does Politis treat his players, or even Crowe? How do you think the Broncos are treated by the owners of the team?

Not only are hey demonstrably incapable of operating it well, they appear to have no real interest in it either. The HBG are more interested in meat raffles and upgrading the seating at the bistro than the success of the NRL franchise they own. Google Holman Barnes Group annual report and read it for yourself.

Think about what the independent review into the HBG actually determined. They advised the HBG to appoint an independent board to operate the Wests Tigers. They essentially said "you are the problem".

The HBG then installed a chair that already had history here and of the 3 tie breaking independent members the recruitment firm was supposed to have appointed one was the CEO of a club sponsor.
Wow!!! all these posts saying "sell sell sell" makes this sound more like the NYSE than a footy forum--we might need a circuit breaker soon.

There's definitely a whiff of acrimony in the air as @Suzie-Q hinted at, but it's not coming from HBG.
I reckon they've actually started to show consistency and vision lately, which, funny enough, doesn't make great clickbait.

Maybe if we all stopped feeding the soap opera, the journos would have to find a new pinata 🤣.

The owners need to spend more money on the club old mate …on junior identification and development to start …. I also think Benji needs better assistant coaches …

They are a long way behind the spending of Penrith, Dogs, Parra to name but 3 ..

You're a much more learned person than I am with you being a schoolteacher and me having been just a poorly paid [for the responsibility we have] bus driver.
Tell us your thoughts about how we go about fixing the very obvious acrimonious union
Suzie-Q:
Hi BZN,

Not sure if you're having a shot at me or not 🤔 I'm not sure how my job versus yours (and I agree you have huge responsibilities as a bus driver) adds to the conversation. But just so you know, I haven't always been a teacher. I've had many jobs: from cleaner to small business owner & partner to Relieving Principal, and just about everything in between except for hospitality and factory work. And I treat everyone with respect and courtesy, and that only changes depending on how I am treated in return. (In my current position, I'd rather hang out with the support staff than the DEL, based on how I've been treated.)

As for my thoughts on how to fix WT, you wouldn't agree (based on the previous communications we've had). Obviously, as I previously stated, I have no pre-Wests Tigers affiliation.

Therefore, *I* would like to see Wests Tigers named teams in all NRL affiliated competitions. Juniors should keep the WM and BT names, but they come through KOE, etc, as Wests Tigers. The goal for players in our draw area should be to play for Wests Tigers and to see a clearly identified pathway, not WM for some, WT for others, etc.

A lot of people talk about how well the panthers manage their juniors. It's a direct pathway. I was born and lived for 44 years in the Lower Blue Mountains and Penrith areas. Every kid, whether they play for LBM, St Marys, Windsor, etc, KNOWS their pathway to playing for the NRL. And that they'll be a Panther if they make it. And everyone who supports them in the NRL will support them as a Panther.

This is the 26th season of Wests Tigers. It's the 26th season without Balmain or Magpies. As someone who has been a Wests Tigers Fan for 24 of those seasons, I truly believe it's time to turn off the life support and let them pass with dignity, instead of keeping thrm hooked up to life support.

Just my humble opinion, @BZN, and you asked 😊

Well said Suzie , unfortunately it’s guys like BZN who are holding this club back .
I think the time has come for them to find something else to do , as this club cannot move forward as it currently stands and untijgnit on all fronts has to be the only path forward .

I am not convinced the HBG use their power to over rule the football department aka Richo near as often as what many people seem to believe.
It’s convenient to blame others other than those making the decisions when things go wrong.
Another benji step.
You didnt answer his question:

"Do you think the people who own this club are capable of making it a successful one?"

Rubbish. We always have a choice. Gave him every chance but just not ready for first grade coaching. We just can't afford any more seasons like the last 4 in particular. We have to get off the bottom of the ladder. We are and have been the laughing stock of the NRL. Its got to stop.
Yes you’re right but do you really think he will be sacked? It would be very surprising.

So, we have to hope he has made his decisions for the good of the club.

For example, the TDS decision is short term thinking so we assume Api will help us get to the semis next year and the year after.

I’m hoping Api and Luia will attract some quality players and will help build a positive culture.

Like I said we need to be positive because he’s probably here to stay…….for a little while

Given that it’s already Wests Tigers in NRL, Flegg and the women’s comps - what your saying is - chuck the Magpies out of NSW Cup and everything will be sweet and dandy 🥴

You stated that Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers stay remain as they are in the juniors, so the only change your suggesting is reverting back to how it was in 2017 - Wests Tigers Reserve Grade side.

Your closing comment about “turning off the life support and let them pass with dignity” is of course also aimed solely at Western Suburbs, as Balmain passed many winters ago (apart from their spluttering juniors which are kept alive by Wests).

Needless to say - I disagree

You're deluded. I have no care for Western Suburbs Magpies OR Balmain Tigers. Neither was ever *my* team. MY team is WESTS TIGERS, end of. And if Balmain passed many winters ago, then the Magpies should join them. 🙄
I'm all for Wests Tigers Reserve Grade as Wests Tigers, obviously.

Sadly what we are reading now from the media and our own fans is the same stuff we read last year, the year before that and the year before that and so on. Nothing changes, absolutely nothing. During preseason and maybe the first eight weeks, there is positivity from the media and the fan base, than it all turns sour and the same cycle starts again once preseason is in full swing.

It will only change with success and substantial success only comes when your football operations department is equal or better than the good clubs. Operations basically covers everything from junior development, pathways, recruitment, coaching, rehab, salary cap, finance's and so on.

Smart and hard decisions have to be made now or we will be reading the same story next year. Recruitment, retention , coaching and pathways would be my priority but I guess everything needs a major overhaul

I never suggested you had any care for Western Suburbs or Balmain.

We had a Wests Tigers Reserve Grade prior to 2018.
So with respect, this Wests vs Balmain argument is a furphy.

The problems at the Wests Tigers has nothing to do with what emblem is on the chest at various levels of development.

For a long long time it has had everything to do with people in key positions and their ability, or lack thereof, to do an adequate job.

Reading Chammas - it sounds like Willie Peters
is next cab off the rank 🤔

Reactions: BZN
When people argue that we can’t keep sacking coaches, my reaction is what about a coach who should never be appointed anyway?

This is not just about the coach though … sack him you are also sacking the two best players … hey it sucks but that’s the sort of situations this club tends to find itself in

If that’s the case, they aren’t much different to Galvin. Id like to think they’d be a bit more professional than that.

lol … yeah right … he will use every leverage he can to get his way …

The only thing that will change his mind is if he gets tired of losing … maybe this time next year
