Coach 2017????

2016 is done and dusted. With massive hype and excitement last week i was expecting a stellar performance from the boys. The fact we got smashed at our spiritual home ground in front of a packed crowd doesnt sit well with me. If JT cant get them up for this game what chance do we have. He was brought on his defensive claims yet we have gone backwards, with favourites not being held accountable and selected week in week out. I think 2018 will be a break out year for us with big money to spend. In order to get it right, you bring in a new coach with no allegiances or favourites and he cleans up the joint. Identifies who will be here and who wont and who he needs to bring in. I think its time to move JT on. What do you think?

This thread is quite pointless. Taylor will be here next year. The board is on his side (for now). With Farah gone the club is not going to pay out the coach as well. That's the reality of the situation.

I dont think anyone can guarantee 100% that Taylor will be here next year. Most likely he will be. Based on the numbers 64 votes, 48% want him here, 52% dont. So right down the middle. Anyone thinking its all roses now Farah is gone is wrong. Its all about JT now, and you can see he has the fans split right down the middle.

Thanks for the welcome.
_" When its Wests Tigers V "Enter Name" we stand side by side"._ Most of you maybe but definitely not all. I would even go as far as to say that some celebrate the losses rather than the successes. They are probably all the RF sentimentalists.

Moving farah on is half the job done. For the other half for a completly fresh start time to move JT on. I would of given JT another year if we made semis, but we didnt and we have the second worst attack. Doesnt make any less of a supporter than you.

2nd worse attack?? That's a new one.

Thanks GNR4LIFE, i can always rely on you to identify a mistake i make. Being all over the defensive stats i think you knew what i meant.

Give him one more year. There's no more excuses now.

If he doesn't make the 8 next year he goes. Anything less than that is a regression.

Agree. We need to be playing finals footy next year otherwise JT has to go.

you do know that the club and board dont give 2 rats who people on this forum want as a coach right ?

if the team does not make the 8 next year, he will not be resigned for 2018.

Just consistently good football against all teams is mostly what I desire, so at least they put up a reasonable fight for 80 minutes with players in their appropriate positions.

Would be interesting to see who would put up their hand up for the job should the board embark on a change of coach. It's not a job for the faint hearted at the best of times given our recent track track record with coaches. The club should be thinking ahead in case the team has another below par performance in 2017 … That's what smart boards and management teams should be thinking.

This is the problem we face.
The best coaches have the luxury of being able to pick and choose their appointments that will give them the greatest chance of success….but they dont always get it right,
Bennett did with Saints, he saw a potential that had them as chokers for years....he got that monkey off their back. Didnt work for the knights though, and he was quick to hightail it back to Brissy

We get to choose from those looking for an opportunity for whatever reason

Oh really damn. I actually thought this poll was going to determine JT's fate, and now you ruined my night. :bash

Our track record with coaches??

5 in 17 years after 3 finals appearances?

I would say we have treated coaches OK.

If you look at the teams whose coachs are in trouble, id say it would be Warriors, Dragons and Tigers. For Toovey or Cleary, if they dont want to move countrys, i reckon the tigers are alot more appealing. True or not, if they worried about the influence of Farah he is no longer there. The worry for me is if we get of to a bad start next year, with all our players off contract and we realise JT isnt the long term solution.

Sheens…..In 2017 at least Tuesday will be fun again with team selections always good....Attack would be great again and he was always good with young players and could always get the team up for big games

And Folkes back for the D

First post but not my first time here. There are some real negative "supporters" here. You moan about your losses but you never celebrate your successes. You hate the coach, the players and each other. Maybe you need to find a different team to support, cause you ain't doing a very good job of supporting this one.

So True. This forum has really become a haven of negativity. The team gets to within one point of qualifying for the semi finals and so many members (not true supporters) use the forum to offload agendas they have been carrying all throughout the year.

Think it is fair to say that the vote of more than a few would be influenced by the Farah departure, of which we will soon see has much effect. That aside, I also feel that things have changed and the culling and recruitment choices having worked out well thus far.

Taylor got my vote to be rightly judged on a roster that he will have had a bit more say on over the off season and mainly because the players seem to have faith in his direction.

I know right? We've only conceded 118 points in the last 3 weeks (with our season on the line).

I can understand if you think that Jason Taylor deserves another year, seeing as our position on the ladder is improved from last year. But, I have serious misgivings about his ability as a coach, and on balance I think it would be better if we replaced him now.

His part in the RF affair did him no credit. He came across as a dictator, not a leader, and definitely not a manager of a team. One of his main jobs was to create harmony in the group and get the best out of all the players in the squad. He ran a personal vendetta against RF and drove him out of the club. In return for what? 200K and the proof to everybody else that he was boss. This is what the club will take into its next contract negotiations with Moses, Brooks, Tedesco, Woods and so on, who have had to watch a great player be put down and be treated with no dignity or loyalty. They can be expect to be treated in the same way if they displease the coach in some way.

It is seasons end and the coach has still failed to find a role for Luke Brooks. This is what is at the heart of the problem with Brooks' lack of involvement. He has no role to fulfill anymore.

Last Sunday was the classic moment for Jason Taylor to prove that he had the qualities of a coach. A place in the playoffs, a packed Leichhardt Oval, the hype and excitement - all that energy to muster and inspire a group of young men to produce their best, to fight to the end. Canberra have a big and fast team that would be a great challenge, so I wasn't surprised that we lost, but the way we capitulated by half time. It was a disgrace and the coach has to wear his proportion of the blame. I really doubt that he is capable of inspiring, of lifting a team above itself.

So I hope that we find a new coach, as soon as possible.

Consistently good footy and reaching the 8 are mutually exclusive IMO. Given we were a mixed bad this year and just missed the 8, we will need to be better next year to make the 8\. Anything short of 13 wins is a failure.
