He may be the reason that we are building but he is also the reason behind our previous failures if you logically extrapolate that premise.

Could this be the smartest sounding sentence ever constructed here? I mean… wow

Yes I believe it is….

but Smeg...I'll gladly have that debate re FAILURES sometime after the first week in October...

How about around the time the Aussie coach takes the Aussies to Four Nation's glory...Good for you?

He should be signed for life how the hell we did we get this far? it was an awesome performance by the team and all coaching staff. That was not Tim sheens kicking on the 2nd tackle tonight after all the defensive work. If we keep Coach Sheens we keep all the players he developed who are about to hit their primes over the next 3 to 8 years. If the club sacks Sheens think real hard all those players at the club who have only known sheens in their professional careers and his best mate In England now with a blank chequebook and double salaries. It isn’t rocket science.

99% of you have a very distorted view on things.

You guys talk about Sheens Jnr development being good ? How many of our talented jurniors has he turned into rep players. i.e Lawrence, Rhino, Fulton, Galloway and the likes should be playing rep footy by now. Canberra, Brisbane, Storm's jnrs are playing better than our regular FG's and our Jnrss are just as talented. But they don't improve..much.or very very slowly.

You guys talk about Sheens copping criticism over the years. The guy has been escaping criticism.

Without Folkes, Sheens's career would have ended. His previous 5 years speak for themselves. It should not take 5 years to make the 8\. His decisions over the years have been mind boggling and unforgettable.

A few fancy set plays don't make him a good coach. It's getting the best out of your players. He has had more than enough chance.

I've got no dramas if Sheens is re-signed. The club has some top talent coming through the lower grades and Sheens does a good job in developing them. If Folkes is promoted to assistant coach as suspected, it should balance out nicely IMO.

Well Put Willow

I would like to see Folkes taking the Defensive duties full time.

I believe that this has now happened.

Steve Folkes is Mr D

Here is that Souths rumour again courtesy of the Tele and the article about Johnny Lang

Plenty of candidates have been thrust forward to succeed Lang, including Tim Sheens and Craig Bellamy, who has been Inglis' only NRL coach.

Did this extension eventuate?

Benji Marshall, Dene Halatau and Bronson Harrison were Sheens' juniors that he brought through that have gone on to play test football with New Zealand.

Robbie Farah, Chris Lawrence, Bryce Gibbs, Keith Galloway and Anthony Laffranchi are rep players that were also brought through by Tim Sheens.

What were we before Tim Sheens came along? We were a laughing stock that relied on players that were good park footballers at best. Do I think Sheens is responsible for turning us around from being a joke to a club that is now thriving? He's definitely a huge part of our turn around. Do I think some of his dicisions deserved to be screamed down by the fans? Of course I do, he makes mistakes, he's human! Am I happy that he'll stick around? You better believe it!!!!

Those of you who want Sheens gone, go watch a Tigers game from 2001 or 2002 and tell me you still want him gone?

sheens is the best coach the weststigers have had with daylight second ! he needs to stay on and help steer the direction of the club. sheens will never go to those career killers at sowffs.

Onanistic writing at its very best!

While you attribute previous failure - may I ask as a further logical extrapolation of your statement smeg - that it would be fair to assume he is also the reason behind our previous successes (2004 World 7s - 2005 NRL title and consequent off-field stability)?

He treats the club likes his family, the only difference is however that he kicks anyone who does bad things off-field out of the family.

I like this culture that he has built over the years and proud to say I go for Wests Tigers just because he has built this culture. That's from speaking from the heart.

Now speaking from my mind, I would say yes he has made mistakes, big mistakes but as Chris mentioned, he came in '03 and there has been a roller-coaster of ups and downs since, but the lows have never gone as far as '01-'02\. Sheens deserves his some acknowledgement for that.

Sheens is a deadset legend of this club who thinks from his heart, and twice from his mind. You get a combination of that and the experience of 600+ games, you get a genius. Sheens learns with experience and his experience is more valuable than anything.

Tigers' culture + Sheens' experience= Tigers Premiers!!!! :sign:

I dont think Sheens saw the 4 nations result coming either!!
His results over last decade or so at all levels with different clubs & Aust team prove he's no messiah,& quite frankly not deserving to be considered in the top rung of NRL coaches(viz Bennet/Smith & possibly Bellamy)…more a Staurt/lang/middle of the road performer
...but WT performances in 2010 deserve a contract extension for 2012 to see if he can build on this years success, but please dont saddle us with a long term extension & many years of possible purgatory.
Yep,he rescued WT from oblivion, but that was 9 years ago & weve all moved on

How could you possibly put Brian Smith ahead of Tim Sheens? Smith has won nothing, zero, zilch, nudda, big fat naught.

Who is the "Smith" you are rating in the top rung of NRL coaches, along with Bennett and Bellamy?
