Lote tweeted a few weeks ago about Mattersons management, I don’t think he is a fan of theirs.

I find it interesting that clubs were only willing to throw scraps for Matterson ... maybe not in that bigger demand and realistically he is only getting a 100grand extra for the Parra deal apparently so was it worth trashing your reputation for when in time a real pay day could of been realised!

I’m not sure about that. Realistically the only way we benefit is through a trade and that’s not happening. Finding someone of Mattersons quality for $400k isn’t possible imo. He was our best player last year and now we’ve just released him. I’m not sure how they can spin this positively.

My thoughts of the Matterson situation. I’d say the club may have figured it’s better to be done with that headache and take the contract money to spend elsewhere for the next 2 years rather than not.
We’d also not openly say we will release him without any compensation as we don’t want to be seen as the ones that want to force him out and have to pay for the privilege.
I’d say Matterson has left with no further pay out of the remaining 2 years which would be agreeable to him and his management knowing that he is likely to pick up a contract elsewhere at the same value or more. This would be preferred by their management also as the options available to him are greater as there is no horse trading required!

At the end of the day, Tigers tried to get a reasonable swap for Matterson. If none are forthcoming (which is what was reported), you cant just keep him for the sake of it as ultimately harmony and culture are affected.
Yes, the argument to keep him in CC to learn a lesson sounds good in theory but not really in practice. Let him go - there will be an article next year about a falling out between two peacocks (Matto and Moses).

Would be decent if picked up a quality front and second rower with that money. If snagged a Lomax on top of that, it's really a big win IMO.

Not if it means we just miss out on that top class player and sign two just under top class players instead.

Losing Matterson might just give us enough to hold off the Roosters or whoever it may be to sign Arrow. We dont know but i do know we should wait and see before letting our anger get the better of us
