Clubs shouldnt be responding to rumours pushed by managers through the media.In my mind it would be totally irresponsible to give a manager that much power others may feel differently but that is the way i see it

Let’s just all hold tight until we know something solid, after all it is our attitudes and subconscious bias’ when it comes to this kinda stuff that makes us all so unique and individual. I expect nothing less than Madge & Matto to put differences aside for the good of furthering both their respective careers.

Nobody tipped us coming 9th this year and quite frankly right now I couldn’t care less for these totally indecent, vulgar(ish) media blow-ups

He just wants more money.

Said he sees Packer and Matulino doing nothing and earning twice what he makes and he was our best player this year.

The situation is bad enough, but you could imagine the headlines “Player of the Year wants out!!”

If it’s true, it’s a public relations disaster....!! And once again will make the club look like a basket-case...!!


The other way to look at it is his manager has dropped this today after his player who was a dead cert for player of the year got dudded.

Unfortunately Matterson will come out with the all is rosey statement, I'm not going anywhere, as we heard last year from ivan....one thing I've learnt from 40 years of watching footy....hear one thing, expect the opposite....guess Nov 1 will be an interesting time

However we all know clubs are doing dirty deals under the table whenever they want to and player managers do whatever it takes to break the existing contract, And whatdoes the NRL do about this - SFA as usual. The whole game is a joke that is setup for a few powerful clubs. Its becoming a very poor man's version of the EPL.

He plays! Wests hold all the cards here. If Matto reckons he is worth more, he should have negotiated it better when he left Roosters. If he thinks other Tigers players are being overpaid, he should have negotiated as well as they did.

I'm sure we can come to some arrangement with Matto, so long as money is available somewhere. There is no argument he was our best forward 2019 and club isn't stupid enough to shoot ourselves in the foot. And I get that Matto signed on before Madge did, so he was originally planning to play under Ivan ze Terrible.

But also, we are under no obligation to do anything and he needs to turn up and play and train, like a professional.

To be honest there's nothing NRL can do. This is just rumour, if NRL was to actually stop and ask the player, manager and clubs if anything was going on, they'd all say "nope".

You'd need a whistleblower to dob people in, with documented evidence, like a few salary cap infringements of recent years.

What you are saying about the NRL is like saying the ATO should catch all the cash-in-hand transactions and ensure 100% of all Australians pay 100% of their tax obligation. Or like folks who take a sick day at work to have a job interview somewhere else. There's nothing you can do about it just based on noise.

If true then IMO they have dealt with the matter as that’s all is needed for a rumour for now and the I would say negotiations are underway. May also be the reason why Chris hasn’t been given a contract yet.

Isn't it nice that the season has been over for 5 days and already the birds are squabbling over the spare hot chips that we don't have. Rowdy wants a decent deal, Matto wants a decent deal, Esan wants an upgrade.

This story is gaining momentum by the minute, as is the story that we are absolutely no chance of signing Papenhuyzen. I just know this is actually going to happen Happy days ahead! According to reports we are actually considering letting him go to free up some cap space!!!

If we let Matterson go to free up cap space because we can’t shift the deadwood, then I’m done with this club. Players like Matterson rarely come to a club like ours and is it any wonder when they are treated like this and considered expendable.

Blind bloody Freddy could see that he was far and away the best player for us all year, a class above just about everyone else on the field week in, week out. So yes let’s get rid of him instead of building a team around him just so we can free up cap space to sign another couple of Neville’s like Jennings.
