Hooper saying he has asked for a release, saying parts of the club are unprofessional, and Madge is to strict of a disciplinarian, started 6 weeks back

Where does this come from because fox journos saying this is not the case? Hooper sensationalises everything way more than most i reckon

Is funny how we demand a player to honour his contract but want the club to dishonour about 5 contracts to other players.

That’s how we roll lol

Is that Hooper or Matterson saying parts of the club are unprofessional...?

If it’s Matterson than I would reciprocate by saying he’s being very unprofessional by dumping on his employee, teammates, sponsors and supporters - and if that’s the case then good riddance, don’t let the door hit you way out! I know the club has work to do to match the facilities, levels of governance and administration that other clubs enjoy, but I’d to think our clubs is making strides to address these and is heading in the right direction. And if it’s too strict for you Ryan then go and play Massey Cup or join the PNG Hunters - I’m sure their Mad Monday’s would be out of this world!!

If he said it I think it makes it impossible for him to stay and makes his intentions clear. He wants out and having a crack at the club and coach, almost ensures that will happen.

@beachtiger I'd take Matto said:
11. Garner
12. Matterson
13. Arrow

That is mouth watering but unfortunately with our current cap position I don’t think we can afford two players upwards of $700k.

In saying that though if we can cut some of our deadwood, put Matto on a healthy contract and pick up Aarow then we have the foundations of a very strong pack.

That's how the NRL works now. Too much player movement and the clubs are just as bad as the players.

Agree sad reality of the game these days.. For what its worth we rarely strike gold recruitment wise but when we do we lose them a la Jac, Tapou, now maybe matto. It's like we are a stepping stone of sorts.

Yeah, it doesn't really feel like we're competing anymore. If feels like pre salary cap days where we just existed.

Guys , this is 💯 a money grab. Marsters’ manager is doing the same . I’m also sure that the value has been set for both , as the managers would have been behind closed doors assessing their clients value , through other clubs . There’s blood in the water and sharks are circling . If anything to me , this looks like the tigers are about to get a huge chunk of their salary cap freed up . This is not a coincidence.
I think this is good news if anything . It means there’s expectations that money is available .

He’s got 2 yrs to go. Wants more cash. Agent cries. parra favourites, but they can’t speak to him for a couple of years. Its an agent beat up for cash. Pretty straight forward. That’s where Chammas gets his stories from. Pathetic.

But, he’s worth more than 350.

I reckon Reynolds and packer are gone and the agent is looking for a better deal.

He’d be right in deserving this. Sign him up. 500, performance kpis to 700, and captaincy in the next 12-18 months and renegotiate from there. Otherwise let his manager write a letter as well and drop him like a slimey potato.

Don’t forget he complained of not being treated right compared to other players when he left sombrero city, now he doesn’t like the coach. Seems a little high maintenance for a second rower if you ask me - but that may just be his 10%er though

Simples...Just give him the money that Chris Lawrence would’ve received, if that’s what we have to do to keep Matterson at the Club then so be it.

Great point mate..........................and for all those saying "Matterson signed for 350, bad luck"...it does NOT WORK LIKE THAT.

He came here as a piece...told he will play behind two kiwi book ends...told he will be one of a leadership group of 6.

A year on and he is THE MAN doing it all each week. 150 a week, ball playing, 70 mins plus....He is doing tons of off the field stuff also.

Any club with a brain would be proactive and have called him in and said "here is a 4 year deal for 600, tear that 350 up, you deserve the it for all the work he have asked you to do". Let's make you captain.

Press conference = star player signs on for four years. Positive off season. Get Matto to help recruiting now for 2010.

But not us..........................

Instead we leak to Chaamas (who is basically a Tiger media man working for nrl.com) that he is greedy / does not like the coach.....................undermine him and make Matto look the bad guy.

Well it is not going to work this time.

The club is a disgrace if we lose him. An absolute joke and we won't see a quality player sign here for years / will be old broken down 28-30 year olds coming for overs only.

As I said earlier we can't just do that as the offer to Chris is around minimum wage, so the money we would have paid Chris needs to go to his replacement.

I think this shows that the Tigers are about to free up some $ from somewhere else!

The mid term risk with this one is recruitment targets who are tempted to come here now will think Maguire is a crap coach / club is still a shambles.

Very dangerous one. Big test for the club. Needs a quick resolution.

@jirskyr why worry about not having made the finals, it’s done and dusted.

The job now is to work out our roster for next year and to jump from one story to the next.
