@Madge Thank you for that, that was really good. I'm not the biggest Robbie fan, but he expressed himself very well there, and i think pretty much all of this forum would be 100% behind him on his comments.

He said a player has to earn his right to ask for big money, and that's by a lot more than one good year. If Matto had put in another good year next year, WT would probably have been looking to upgrade him on bigger money then for the future. But now, due to probably bad advice he has burnt his bridge at WT pretty much.

Sadly yes

If anyone is interested, Robbie has his say on the Ryan Matterson situation at 30:20, says he doesn't think Matterson will be here next season.

It looks like that video has been taken down. Can't find it anywhere. Did Robbie say anything to cause a complaint that may have led to it being removed ?

'Poor' Ryan Matterson won't be at Wests Tigers in 2020, Robbie Farah predicts
By Scott Bailey

Robbie Farah has hit out at former teammate Ryan Matterson over the handling of his contract situation and claims he'd be surprised if he was at the Wests Tigers next year. Matterson was given leave from end-of-season training at the Tigers citing personal reasons, and has been since been given permission to look for another club.

It's now considered highly unlikely he will be at the Tigers next season, despite two years still to run on a contract though to be worth between $350,000 and $400,000 a year. There are believed to be several issues between the second-rower and the Tigers, and he is likely to now command bigger money elsewhere.

But Farah said Matterson only had himself to blame, claiming money was at the heart of the problems and the 24-year-old had to earn his upgrade. "The thing is, he thinks he's worth more," the retiring Farah told an NRL.com podcast this week. "He came to us as a bench back-rower and he had a great season. He shouldn't be upset with the Tigers. If there is anyone he should be upset with it's his manager. "Because his manager said this is what you are worth, this is the contract I think you should sign. "If he believes he is worth more, play another great year. Halfway through next year the club will be wanting to upgrade and extend you anyway."

Matterson arrived at the Tigers at the start of 2019, and was one of their finds of the year. He topped 200 metres in two of their last five matches, was one of the club's best defenders and also offered options with his ball-handling skills. But despite his obvious abilities, Farah couldn't see a way in which he would remain at the club in 2020. "I would be surprised if Ryan Matterson is at the Tigers next year," he said.

"I love Matto, he's a great guy ... (But) the way it has been handled, it's been quite poor from him and his management. "He's probably worth more than he is on. But you signed a contract. Honour your contract. "I think it's beyond the point of return. Ryan Matterson will probably be at another club next year."

I would think Robbie sums up the thoughts of many or even most of us supporters on this.Matterson is a good player but lacks credibility as a human being

I wonder if Robbie is going to become Mr Rent-A-Quote for the media, now that he has officially retired.

I think that came from a video that was released by the club but has since been taken down!

@TigerTiger Have a look at the latest move by Jordan Rapana - that's club loyalty.

Probably.
Its a bit rich him talking about about a player and his management actions.

You wonder? This is the ultimate certainty...get used to it for the next 20 years.

The only positive is it means the media won't bother calling Benny Elias anymore every...single...time...anything goes wrong in Tigertown. It will be Robbie from here on...

I think it's great him saying this as it clearly backs up what the fans think.. Also puts the club and coach in a better light because it is not our fault and he needs to be blaming his manager..
I would also assume that the players are pissed with him and don't want him back either..

Its a win for us this article so not sure why people are not giving it the thumbs up :+1:

At least Robbie played for the club.

Elias lined his own pockets at the expense of one of the entities bankrolling one of the owners of the club. The only questions the media should be going to him for should relate to his involvement in Rozelle Village.

Good morning 😛oint_up: @Abraham: I hope we aren't going to have another Ben Elias on our hands.

But as they come from the same mould along with his little friend Michelle Moses [what a pity he has such a revered name as his surname] I reckon your "Mr Rent-A-Quote" title will come to pass.

As I have said before Farah was a great player and should be known as a club legend, but he isn't, he destroyed his own reputation by being such a divisive person.

Also as I have said before...he is a BIG part of the reason Wests Tigers are in such a BIG mess, and will be next year as well, at least.

I feel, Farah has something on someone at W.T. otherwise why would such a devisive person be allowed to come back? And to make matters much worse, for him to be a possible Ambassador for our club?... You gotta be joking.

He should have been left to languish in nowhere land playing CC for the Bears.
He certainly wasn't wanted at the Rabbits.

I have already cancelled my Wests Tigers membership due to the fact no decision [how pathetic] had yet been made re 'Farah for ambassador', which means there IS still a possibility he WILL become that.

Our current W.T. board are so pathetically hopeless, they can't even make the decision to tell our most divisive player ever "to just bugger off".

As I have already said "I feel...Farah has something on someone at W.T."

To be fair, our hooker situation in 2018 was dire. We had Elijah Taylor playing there. It made sense both from a playing and marketing perspective to bring Robbie back. If you consider what he brought to both those departments, his second stint here was a success.

Our most capped player should not be told "to just bugger off", that post in disrespectful in the extreme. The reason we are in the mess we are now is the CEO stuffed up and the previous coach signed washed up players to large contracts. Robbie Farah has a right to talk about this club, much more of a right than any of us, yourself included!

Careful mate, you are not allowed to disagree with @MAGPIES1963

Thanks 😛oint_up: @Kazoo-Kid: I very much appreciate your sensible and thinking persons style of reply :fa-smile-o:

I don't think he has a right anymore, he is an ex player now... not until he becomes an ambassador of the club then he can talk for the club.... what he says as an ex player would be held the same way like blocker or benny would - take it with a grain of salt
