Connor Watson

Why is this only between Watson and Tui? I think the signing of Watson puts pressure on the entire back line, including Brooks and Reynolds. I am hopeful that the young half from Qld cup will put some pressure on too.

My concerns with our signings was that no-one really had any spark. I am hoping that Watson can fill this void. Tui needs to work hard to get what he wants and for this reason I don't believe he would have been promised anything.

This is exactly the way I see it. I'll wait until something official comes out though.

When i watched the rorters thrash us i was actually unimpressed that jake friend came off and they put watson on. he really brings a lot of enthusiasm, and that (most of the time) usually creates something. reynolds is the same, he will create something out of nothing by just giving 120%. plenty pf spark there

I'm sure both are in Cleary's plans because he doesn't appear to be a coach who does things without consideration.

Tui get told he would have a shot at Fullback but at this stage i want Watson to be fullback next year.

TBH Tui beating Watson for the fullback role would be the best outcome. Watson can cover hooker, the halves, fullback and centre. Tui is terrible as a centre/ winger and can really only play as a running 5/8 or fullback.

I agree this would be the best outcome too because if Lolo gets fullback then he must be playing well and anyone with his footwork playing well is a big plus for us. Watson can then put pressure on Brooks to perform. I do have massive doubts over Lolo though.

I agree Watson could be a gun if given a chance he looks the goods. I expect him to be fullback.

Watson is from the Urban sponge aka Dubbo. ( Victoria, Brisbane, Adalaide and Sydney all have highways going through Dubbo hence the name and is sucking in people from the local smaller communities) YAY SCHOOL (Geography)

I thought he was a Central Coast junior?

Im not fussed if he plays 1 or in the halves
Like many have said, its good we have a healthy competition for spots

One thing for sure, he will keep JLJ out of the halves.

Im sure we will be in a better shape in 2018..

Born in Dubbo.

Is Watson signed? Some people are talking like he is.

If so welcome aboard.

But if we are just pipe dreaming on a Easts player, get a grip. He is just another "talent" that is around in the NRL, yes good potential but why pipe dream without ink.

The Daily Telegraph, Sporting News, Foxsports, SMH, 9 news and more have articles saying he has agreed to terms. Plenty of smoke for the fire there.

The papers all use each other as sources…. wait for an announcement for confirmation. Besides some on here are much better sources.

He was. He was born in Dubbo, but moved to the coast when he was a kid.

The Mole is pretty Reliable and he said it was a done deal.

NRL. 360'S "creepy Crawley" blasting Wests for offering over the top money for Watson. He said that it put to much pressure on young players.

$600 grand was mentioned.

Perhaps he was one of the journalists supporting the Knights' purchase of Ponga for a hefty some. I don't have a view on the purchase price only thankful that Watson may be coming.

Yeah Crawley the puffy-cheeked freak didn't quite know what to say when after he said that either Ikin or Kent said "but you are happy with Ben Hunt getting $1.2 million per season?". He spurted out something weak like "yeah but Hunt is a proven 1st grader". I think the Telegraph journo's all have a whip around for ideas on how to criticize WT during their weekly naked sauna sessions.

I just hope he works out great if we are paying big coin. Ivan must see something in him that I haven't…

Imagine if we honestly offered him $600k. It'd be a lot less than we've been paying paying Brooks and Moses.
