Connor Watson

Tough litte bugger. 5 foot 9 and played in the middle third. Didn't take a backward step.

Fullback looks his best position.

I like him.

Yeah..I agree…He is not a half though...played all his junior football at fullback...I rhink even Robinson acknowledges this by going with Cornish....

Only played 46min and defended well in the line but looked best in the last 6min at the back...

450K seems reasonable with a lot of upside in him...

If we have offered him 450k, I'd rather we double that and buy a marquee player as opposed to 2 players

I think he will be electric at fullback. He's come through the Roosters system and has speed to burn and seems to be tough. Obviously a risk as he hasn't been a regular first grader but we have to take some risks on young players with upside. 465k is fair enough no complaints from me.

I think Robinson just went with Cornish as a genuine halfback, which Watson clearly isn't. I think he'd go well at 5/8 though. Looks like he could handle the defensive load and has the pace to be a genuine threat with the ball and the passing game to set up his outside men.

I enjoyed watching him play tonight. Excellent pace, keeps the defence on their toes and also demonstrated plenty of ticker in the middle in defence.

Gould's comments after the game on Cornish and the likelihood that he won't mature as a half for another couple of year (mid twenties) were interesting. Let's hope this young fellow does come good as some had huge opinions on his ability when he was at the Raiders.

Name one 900k marquee player available for the 2018 season.

Might have to confirm with Tacky, but I think James Roberts is STILL off contract.

Surely you wouldn't fork out that sort of money on James Roberts.
Now that would be real waste.

He may be "off Contract" but he is at the Broncos, may as well be locked away for the next 10 years. Thats where our club cant match it with the big clubs. Its not about whether he wants to stay it about if the broncos want him.

He's got speed, plenty of ticker and can ball play. To me, he looks like a good fullback for lurking around the forwards for an offload. Not sure he could start anywhere else in the team. Obviously, he's a good utility, but who can afford that if we're playing 2 hookers?

Agreed. Having a utility who can cover a number of positions is more realistic than having MM as a specialist hooker on the interchange.

Connor Watson to start at Fullback, Tui bench utility. Tui to ask for early release at completion of 2018.

Just a hunch. Haha

Room for all in our team. Liddle, Brooks, Lolohea and Watson makes for very quick players in the most important positions.

And Reynolds fits in where, Reynolds will be five eight.

All this speed and talent (potential or otherwise) but still not a decent, game controlling half among them! I sure hope Cooper Cronk is coming or we'll still be up the creek

Maybe Watson to ask for an early release because he can't get a crack at full back because Lolohea is absolutely killing it there!!!! also just a hunch.

Nathan Brown was just on radio saying he expects Newcastle to be able to announce 3 or 4 signings coming from top clubs over the next week.

Roberts is no marquee player. He has played zero rep football that I can recall.
