Connor Watson

I love the idea of Watson joining the ranks - he's talented, fast, got a good football brain and most importantly: he is hungry for success. We need that hunger along with healthy competition of positions.

the source of this article is usually unreliable but I can confirm that they are right on this one. Watson has requested a release to the Tigers

Any idea what the clubs plans are for him?

Probable replace one of the many Nuffies that are in the side !

is this for real, is it a done deal.? my young bloke reckons he has been released immediately.

Think it's for 2018 season.. I could be wrong though

I dont want him this year. Get him to come fresh in november.

Chooks probably need him still incase injury hits going into the finals..

Roosters utility Connor Watson faces decision time as Tigers and Knights circle

THE money or playing in his preferred position — that’s the predicament facing rising Rooster Connor Watson as the Wests Tigers and Newcastle circle for his signature.

Watson has one year remaining on his contract at Bondi, but the Roosters are prepared to part ways with the young playmaker at the end of this season.

The 21-year-old Central Coast junior has indicated he wants to start, which can’t happen at the Roosters with Luke Keary and Michael Gordon ahead of him.

Watson had hoped to snare the fullback position at the Chooks in 2018, but this changed when the Tricolours signed Tigers and NSW star James Tedesco.

The Roosters are also set to retain Gordon, although he could be shifted from fullback to the wing to accommodate Tedesco.

Tedesco’s four-year contract with the Roosters has prompted the Tigers to offer Watson a whopping $600,000 to play fullback from next season.

Newcastle are also in the mix for Watson.

The Knights have tabled the Dubbo-born playmaker approximately $400,000 to play five-eighth.

Watson would prefer to play in the halves and he grew up wanting to play for Newcastle, which could work in the Novocastrians favour.

The Knights have also signed Roosters Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Aidan Gurrea.

Despite the Tigers’ substantial offer for Watson, which is more money than Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull takes home, Newcastle officials remain hopeful Watson will link with the Knights on a long-term deal.

Im confused

I wouldn't mind Watson, but not at $600K a season. That's way too much for a relatively unproven NRL player - have we not learned anything?!

Top signing if we get him. 3 years younger than Tedesco, speed to burn.

Lolohea can be a depth player, we signed him out of reserve grade, I'm sure he doesn't expect a guaranteed first grade spot.

The broncos have Benji as back up, the cowboys have TMM for depth etc.

Watson would be a fantastic signing for mine.

Then if we get Rona or Tupou were starting to really build a side.

Lolihea can play wing or centre or in the halves if Brooks really stinks it up or gets injured.

Yep, need depth and competition. Good pick up if he does join us

1\. Watson
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Fonua
4\. Suli
5\. Lolohea/Rona/Tupou

An unsubstantiated rumour regarding a player coming to the Tigers. Cue a team list for 2018\. :unamused:

Sorry, I'll make sure I get your approval before I post next time.
