My Hungarian mates condition has worsened. He has been in hospital for a couple of days, but he has got worse. He has bi-lateral pneumonia reducing his lung capacity to 20%. He is really struggling.

They havent put him on a respirator yet and they have moved him to some high dependency unit and are trying antiviral drugs on him. Not sounding good.

Is he in Australia or Hungary?
Best wishes that his condition improves.

Yes but he has Hungarian blood , he is at an advantage right there

Pray he pulls through this horrible virus

China has switched to anal swabbing claiming it is easier to do, faster and more effective than nasal and throat swabs. It will be interesting to learn if this technique will be adopted in Aust and how it will be accommodated in drive through testing clinics.

Prayers and hope for your friend @Tiger5150 - and everyone else, including Capt. Sir Tom Moore who I read has been taken to hospital in the UK.

Very worrying. A virus with so many faces, from completely asymptomatic and everthing in between through to ferociously attacking all the body's organs or even worse.

Had a mate I worked with message me today. She’s Scottish and I asked how her family were going overseas. She said they’ve been having 62k+ new cases every day. Can only work from home for the most part and most having to be subsidised by the government. Unbelievable stuff.

So sorry about your mate tiger5150. I hope they can do something for him, praying he will pull through all this.

Respirator or ventilator?

Tell his family to not let them vent him if they ever want to see him again.
The amount of people they've killed by venting them is astounding.
Treating them to death

This rubbish is dangerous, please don't post this kind of thing.

THere is a reason Hangon is the only poster I have on ignore.

There is a list of posters here that I have butt heads with/had strong disagreements here, but the list of posters that I dont have an ongoing respect for is a lot shorter (very short).

Hangon is on his own list.

They should be thorough and swab both. Make sure they work top to bottom though.

I woke to the news that Captain Sir Tom Moore has passed away at 100 after contracting Covid19. I'm sad. 😢

An update on my Hungarian mate. The drugs they have given him have worked miracles and is now testing negative for COVID. He is still crook and has bad pneumonia but the virus has been stopped and wont progress.

He just has to recover from the pneumonia.

Great news. Here’s hoping for a full speedy recovery.

The normal swabs are pretty big, though should be fine as long as they don't still want to reach the top of your throat from there.
