Is anyone else annoyed that they decided to start the test on a Thursday

If it had of been like the Tests of yesteryear it could of been finished sometime in the last session tomorrow

Yet again another sign of beauocracy having no idea what the fans want

I would have thought Thursday was the traditional day to start a test in this country (apart from the Boxing Day/NY tests). I always remember them starting on Thursday back in the 80s and 90s

The GABBA test has started on a Thursday every year i can remember

1st session tomorrow will dictate how the game unfolds. If the Kiwis get a couple early wickets, it will make things interesting. On the flip side if Clarke and Ponting bat the majority of the session, it will most likey turn into a snore fest after lunch

Hoping Punter and Pup dig in early tomorrow, slowly build a lead until Punter hits a ton and then unleash.

Will be watching with baited breath. If Ponting throws his wicket away early in the session again I will be devastated.

Whatever happened to Shane Bond He looked like he was going to be a really good quickie for the NZers and literally fell of the map

Two things Happy: he's 36 and massive issues with back injuries. Only played about 20 tests IIRC thanks to his back problems.

Punter out for 78, Clarke 99* at lunch. If Ponting continues to score at around 70-80 per innings, he should be able to continue on to India. I think a few more scores in this vicinity and he'll regain his confidence and snare thag elusive century.

CB if Punter keeps scoring 70-80 per innings he can have the job until he is in his 60's .Was unlucky he got a good nut Thought he might go on today and get the hundred

Good knock by Clarkey has us in a great postion. Hopefully Haddin and the rookies can get us to a total of around 400, and a 100 run lead.

Massively impressed with the way Ponting, Clarke and Haddin have all fired with questions about their form hovering.

NZ aren't exactly the #1 Test nation, but a couple of good innings by all three with certainly aid their confidence going into the Indian series.

I don't get the Clarke hate, apart from Hussey, he's easily our best batsman. Haddin and Ponting have done a good job salvaging their careers here, but you're right about the Kiwis. The real test will be India.

Agree, I don't get the Clarke hate either, he has been our leading run scorer since he came back into the side for the 06/07 Ashes. And he has shown even before he was made captain of the Test side that he is a good captain.

And this has got nothing to do with him being a Tigers fan.

I'm starting to worry about Hussey again .
He needs a big score in the next Test to get some confidence for the Indians

75 runs from his past 5 innings @ 15.
Batting conditions havn't been great though, I think he will bounce back though although he did admit this in the SMH just over a month ago:

MICHAEL Hussey's record would suggest otherwise, but the man who has a sixth sense for engineering wins for Australia says being Mr Cricket is not getting any easier.
>
There are not many batsmen with a sounder mind than Hussey, but at 36 he has revealed that mental battles have become his biggest challenge.
>
His man-of-the-series effort in Australia's 2-1 triumph over South Africa in the one-dayers is evidence that Hussey almost always comes out on top when it comes to putting mind over matter.

>
As wickets continued to fall around him in the deciding game in Durban on Friday, Hussey was uncompromising in his pursuit of the South African total and finished unbeaten on 45.
>
**But as he gets older, Hussey said he has realised that self-doubts and outside distractions enter his thinking far more frequently than they ever had previously.**
>
This is despite two centuries and two separate scores in the 90s on the recent Test tour to Sri Lanka, and a run of solid form in the Champions League with Chennai.
>
He averages above 50 in both Tests and one-dayers, and is closing in on 5000 ODI runs (now 138 short) to go with the 5113 runs he already has wearing the baggy green.
>
It seems unthinkable, but the rock of the Australian side, who is beating father time over the head with his English willow, is feeling the pinch more than ever before.
>
**''Certainly as you get older there's probably more pressure because you can't really afford a lean spell,'' he said. ''Once you go, it's going to be hard to fight your way back into the team.\
\
''My preparation for the game is about really trying to eliminate all the distractions.\
\
''There are so many pressures and distractions and negative thoughts and doubts going through your mind, but being able to clear your mind of all those things and just focus solely on the ball, that's what I try to practice.**
>
''I think when you first start playing for Australia, you don't have any doubts or fears or anything like that, you're just happy to be out there. But certainly it gets harder and harder the longer you play.
>
''But that's what the great players can do.''
>
Hussey said he was inspired by Ricky Ponting's resilient attitude.
>
And like his former skipper (only five months his senior), Hussey has no plans to retire, especially given it took him a decade of toiling in state cricket to finally earn an Australian debut in 2004.
>
Hussey and the rest of the Australian team have gathered in Potchefstroom in preparation for the four-day tour match against South Africa A that begins tomorrow.
>
The two-match Test series against the Proteas starts in Cape Town on November 9 and Hussey doesn't want to miss a chance. ''You can't rest on your laurels at all, I'd love to start the Test series well,'' he said. ''There's been plenty of bad days so you've just got to make sure you really enjoy the good days.
>
''While I still have that hunger … I want to keep playing.''

Hopefully these thoughts don't start entering his mind now after this mini slump.
