Curtis Sironen released [Official p.40]

Tiger Torch's post on 05/08 said that Siro is on $280k now and the option Siro took up was for $300k.
No where near the $500k people are talking about on here.

There on lies the problem…lets assume TT's figures are correct ..it just emphasises the short-sightedness of previous Management ...Mayer signed Sironen to this contract with the option in his favour after a handful of FG games...In other words on potential..Here we are stuck paying a guy 300K...Based on performance and value for output he is worth no more than a minimum wage player 85K at best...the same can be said of the halves..to a lesser extent..

Compare that to the re-structuring of Lawrence's contract getting off massive overs of 600K to a more value for output of 300K a season

We are hamstrung from going into the Market as I think a big part of our problems in the past has been paying too much for our fringe and lower end players that we get not a lot of value out off...It appears current management have moved away from this so I'm not that unhappy with these decisions

Good at what??? Washing JT's car?? Walking JT's dog??

LOL so hilarious. JT sure has his favourites and they will play no matter what.

It amazes me how many times commenters can make the same joke.

Well explain to me then how Farah and Sirro were held to account for "poor form" whilst other players were selected each and every week regardless of performance. It's pretty clear for me to see that Farah and Sirro were dropped for other reasons besides poor performances because accountability doesn't exist in JT's world. Is it a coincidence that Farah and Sirro's dad both spoke out about JT? I think not.

So, what if the "other reasons" you talk about were something to do with accountability?

Farah's gone, Sironen is a average reserve grade player. Move on.

I've read some extremely hyperbolic things about Taylor the last 12 months, but him being blamed for Siro's form almost tops it all. He was no different under Potter to what he's been under Taylor. Lazy and entitled. Its good to see the majority have woken up to him. If he wants to come back into the 17, its up to him to put the effort in and earn his place. Lovett cops it deluxe on here, but what he lacks in natural talent he makes up for in heart. Its the reverse for Siro. Doesn't show enough ticker to be successful.

There is a lot here.

1\. Taylor hasn't copped it anywhere near what he should have in my opinion. He has had an easy run. There appears to be a bunch of supporters who support anything that he does.
2\. Taylor definitely isn't to blame for Siro's form. That is all on Curtis. This goes for other players as well. Moses coming on last year wasn't due to Taylor.
3\. I don't think Siro was that bad. I think he cops it because everyone wants him to be his dad. Aloiai took over from Siro and also had pretty mediocre stats. I think Aloiai has slightly better hit-ups but his defence wasn't as good as Curtis.
4\. I don't believe any of the stuff regarding he won't put in the effort and he doesn't have enough ticker. I think he lacks explosive pace and most top line backrowers have that explosiveness.

I'd like to see Curtis retained and groomed for a top grade spot. I think he could turn into a quality first grader. I don't think he has been treated poorly or anything like that though. Some players just aren't straight up stars. Some develop into high quality first graders and some don't. Siro hasn't as yet developed into a quality first grader so I can understand the club letting him go.

If he hasn't made it as a backrower yet he never will

As I proposed earlier this reason you could maybe use him as a prop

But if backrow is the plan going forward its bye bye Curtis

I think he may have a greater chance to make it as a lock or prop. I'd sub him with ET assuming he can do the role in state cup.

I totally agree Geo, it's going to take a few years to unravel the mistakes/ poor decisions of the previous management.
When you see Corey Parker on $200k for the last 3 years of his contract, it just shows how much we pay over some players worth.
This is why we need people with business acumen running the club instead of retired footballers.
Running a NRL club these days is no different to a business, and you need professionals to run the club.

I don't think that this is fair at all. The idea that Sirro has all the talent but he just doesn't work hard enough doesn't ring true to me.

I think Sirro does some good things (sticks in tackles, decent hands) but stats of 6.6 runs & 56 metres in attack per game don't indicate massive work rate.

Joel edwards: 6 runs & 52metres
josh Aloia : 7.5 runs & 60 metres

Not much better stats above.

And Kyle Lovett 9.9 runs & 79.9 metres (plus avg 25 tackles (1 missed) (Alolia avg 18tk/1miss, Edwards 22tks and 2.5missed)

Edwards has a great tackle rate v the minutes he plays and people bag him.
Siro can't compete.

Sirro mentally checked out mid way through last season, the sooner he is off the books the better. Too little too late. The improvement when he was demoted for et was significant.

Signed, Sealed and Delivered Curtis Sironen has signed with Manly Warringah Sea Eagles for 2017 and is waiting for a official release from the Wests Tigers.

:astonished:

My best memory of sironen's "effort" was a game where we were struggling to make metres. He was pass the ball up the short side and jogged to the dfensive line, before passing to a back and letting them take the hit. He might have some skill, but only gets involved when he sees something for himself.

Geez Manly must have a smart cap manager. DCE on millions, Tapau on 650k, Trobojevic brothers on 500k each, Brett Stewart, Dylan Walker, Nate Myles, Matai, Blake Green.

Another club witha bottomless bucket of cash to sign players & no accountability.

I will believe that is true when I see it on the facebook page of a Canadian theater critic

Siro lost me when he first got dumped but got a reprieve when Moses pulled out in the warn up. You'd expect he would have put in a big effort but, no, put in a very poor game.
Very disappointing as to how he turned out.

I think such icons should be captioned with the proviso that no animals were injured or killed in making this icon. If only the same could be said for the game.

I'm not blaming JT for anything. For your information I agree Sironen is a plodder. My point is that JT only drops players for poor form that speak out about him. I'm allowed an opinion just like you and your girl col are.

Cant be too much to ask for everyone on the team being accountable and not just the players who speak out or we dont want here. Make the whole team accountable and they will realise being mediocre wont cut it in first grade.

Has anyone ever explained to our players that they simply aren't good enough to bag any Coach. We haven't finished in the top half of the comp for 5 seasons. They're not as good as they think they are. I don't know if Taylor is the right man for the job,but it seems like every Coach has problems with this squad. Be a consistent Semi final team or God forbid a Premiership team and then you earn that right. In the meantime, SHUT UP AND PLAY

Another leaner gone to be hopefully replaced by a lifter. Those criticising the performance of jt don't give him enough credit for moving on the deadwood. Just a few more to go.
