Lol . As long as it’s 4 for 2 million or below . Who gives a rats but hole! That’s his value . I was fine to let him walk if he wanted the 600k reported . I was fine to pay him 500k . Either way I’m happy this is resolved . Now we can move on to getting Angus Chrichton over the line . As I honestly think that lock/ edge back rower are our only long term weakness . As we have Madden , Brooks, Doueihi , Tannous , the young kiwi half we just signed , in the halves and Laurie and Dillon , at fullback . And honestly I actually think with Simpkins and that Tuilagi , and the Big Fijian from the sharks , we probably have edge back towers sorted in the next few years as well. Just basically lock now . There is some talent in this club now . It hasn’t looked this stacked in a long time . If anyone knows MLB , it’s like we have a Tampa Bay/ Seattle Mariners farm system , with some absolute guns on the way .

Who’s Dillon, have I missed a signing somewhere?

Logen Dillon, he’s a 20’s player won’t be ready for a few years at least, if he does make it to NRL level

Ahh cheers mate, had he got decent wraps on him

I’ve not seen too much of him but quite a few people on here say he’s played well in 20’s

Has anyone with a bit of inside knowledge either confirmed or denied the 2 mil + figure that was mentioned in the paper. I really am hoping that figure is well wide of the mark it’s far too much money to have tied up to a winger.

Paper figures are usually wide of the mark, main reason is they usually come from managers trying to market themselves to other players.

I don't know what he is getting paid but trust the people involved enough to be confident they wouldn't have overpaid.

Madge loves Nofa and Nofa loves Madge. He talked on a podcast about how happy he was that after he was dropped by Madge he managed to work his way back into the team, then has a fabulous season in 2020 and earned respect from the coach to the point where Madge was saying ‘Dave isn’t going anywhere’

That’s the kind of attitude we’ve been crying out for our team to have for years and he’s the best at it.

Also noted that Tamou talked about Nofoaluma being high on all teams tip sheets in his press conference. He mightn't be the top winger in the game, but he is ahead of a good majority of them and middle of the pack in defence.

TRY causes stat gets brought up in relation to singling out players..individually...

When you look at it from a team and number of games interestingly can give you a better perspective..

For example Melbourne Storm conceded 53 TRYs in the season of which TRY causes attributed to the back 3 were 34 or 64% of TRIES scored against, Rorters had 55 of which 37 or 67% against WESTS Tigers had 98 of which 49 or 50% attributed to the back 3..

That stat looks at the back 3 as a group, but our right side is the main offender when it comes to try causes. Agree that we are also weak up the middle though!

The back three stat doesn't have Benji playing inside them and our left had Brooks not requiring cover both inside and out, which is where half or more of those tries have their roots.

Exactly. Watching very closely the problems with our edge defence and you could clearly see the it started in the middle. I’m looking forward to seeing what the changes to the squad have made in that regard.

Brett Morris killing it at 34yrs old. Nofa is in the same league. Not concerned about him running around at 31 yrs old. Club legend, good work Nofzilla.

Morris is in a different hemisphere to Nof and has been for the duration of their careers. Don't kid yourself

I watched Morris play park football in the Illawarra one day when he’d been dropped from NRL, point is all players have ups and downs in a career, Nof is at or near his prime and Morris is nearing the end.

Morris' highs are far higher than Nofoaluma will ever achieve. Even in the twilight of his career, Morris remains a superior player to Nofoaluma. Nofoaluma is a club level winger with significant defensive deficiencies.

A DallyM is certainly an award to be admired, however, when you consider if we had 2 or 3 better players he most likely doesnt get it?

Sorry, but what is your logic for saying this? You can only ever play two wingers at a time. He happened to be the most prolific Tigers Winger since Tuiaki. His Def was crap but have a look at his kick returns and the freakish tries he scored as well as set up. Seriously, OPSM should offer a free checkup on this site.

Also - doesn't matter. Doesn't matter because nobody can confirm the figure beyond doubt, and doesn't matter once he's signed on, he's getting paid.

This is a critical resigning for the WTs

Regardless of Players ability ( Though it is certainly there),

Nofo is largely our only really well known player now that Benji is gone.

This was about the Tigers showing that they can keep the players that they want and that that the Wests Tigers is a place to aspire to be.

I could be wrong? and I hope you'll correct me if I am? Nofa was awarded points based on receiving a 321 system of all players in the game during Tigers matches.
Players who receive Dally M Medal points automatically receive 3, 2, 1 for the Dally M Team of the Year in their respective positions (i.e. Hooker, Fullback, Winger, etc).
My point is that say, JAC didnt get as many points because although he may have played a great game, his game wasnt as good as others in his team. And as such if we had say, match winning halves and Fullback , Nofa would not have scored as highly.
I make the point , not to belittle Nofa's effort on the park, but simply to minimise the use of the award as a final judgement of a players skill.
I'm happy to go to OPSM for a check up if you re-sit your kindy maths test LOL.

I agree with this. He’s a top line player in a position we are weak, local junior staying to win with the club and not jumping ship to win elsewhere. Popular figure within the club who’s a top performer. His signing means more to us than to another team.

I'm happy he as re-signed, but I wouldn't have gone looking for the rusty razor blades if he had left us. Anyway, all done and dusted, so lets hope he plays at least as well as he did last year.

OPSM doesn't come in the exclusive David Nofoaluma range that some on here look through

The guy is a beast, comparable to the best wingers in the comp. He starts on any team. Dunno what nuffies on here are thinking.

The defense angle is such a non-starter. Defense is a team issue. He's a winger, his job is to finish off backline moves and for us, take dirty runs off our line. When was the last time people genuinely gave a hoot about a winger's defense? BJ's defense last season was noticeably worse than Nofo's.

Yeah he's on money but it's not crippling and better spent on upgrading him than yet another 20% upside development player.

I agree his attack (especially last year) make him extremely valuable. The amount of tries he scored from nothing was fantastic.

I think what most are referring too with the defense is more the shooting up off his wing to try and shut down a play therefor creating an overlap, when majority of the time if he had just stayed on the wing we would have most likely been fine. That's something that is in his control that we would like to see him resolve.

But I am a big nofo fan and glad we have him even on his money (despite no confirmed amount yet)
