Dylan Smith (2018-20)
Smith joined Wests Tigers as part of its Development squad in 2018 and transitioned into the full-time squad throughout his time with the club. An Australian Schoolboy, Smith featured prominently for the club’s Jersey Flegg and Canterbury Cup squads in 2018 and 2019 and played in the sole reserve-grade fixture this year before the season was cancelled.

No idea why he was let go even without giving him a chance to show what he has with at least 2 first grade games... sad really

A huge fail.

We aren't doing a lot of development like a Penrith or Brisbane where letting guys go is part and parcel.

You'd hope the few guys we do put money into at least get a shot.

Instead, we've wasted years of time and money.

that's it - why wasn't he even given a shot at FB when the season was done - look at AD at 5/8, and Sam M who has done well with his short stint, I prefer him over Twal and the Huth. so anyway, who knows what this kid would've shown if he was given a chance... they all just need an opportunity to show if they do have it or not... like you said **wasted years of time and money**

I know you probably wouldn't like what I am about to say, they could've given this kid a chance in FB and AD as 5/8 and Marshall somewhere, just somewhere (BM could've stayed dropped and have given the kid a fair go)... anyway, what is done is done, there is nothing we can do to change that and I just hope WT has better plans in place to fix the problems that we have on the field.

They have probably considered he's not better than what what we've got or what is coming. With the departure of players it will be interesting to see what the average age of our squad will be in 2021

that's true but Sam M was given a chance and he took it with both hands and we saw how good he is being in the side... it could have happened Dylan Smith too... again we will never know now

BJ has been a major disappointment.

Centre options in 2021

AD (Goal Kicker)

Mbye
Mono
Kei
Talou
Cini

Thoughts?

Think Noffo and AJ will be our wingers for 2021

I wouldn't write off BJ yet

I would believe Talau has the form from the last game to occupy the right centre position next season. Whether Kepaoa plays left wing and Kei moves into left centre we'll have to see.

One decent game gets you the gig? Even when you bomb a try in that game?

I would take Kelly Egan and Madge's football nouse over us 'keyboard warriors' to be honest.

we have to and if that means going through a few lean years with him as coach to change the culture so he can deliver a premiership then so be it

He's learning and that is part of the learning process. I'd much rather continue with his development and have him make a few mistakes in comparison to Leilua who couldn't get himself motivated to be fit and not to be a liability in defence at 28.

IMO there is clearly potential but also IMO successful first grade teams dont hand out 1st grade spots on potential. Im sure in your opinion BJ hasnt earned the right to stay there and of course there is merit in that but I think he hasnt been used properly yet in attack and I think that part of the answer for that will hopefully be sorting halves out for next year. Defence is a different story.

TLDR.....I want to see more from Talau before he is given a first grade centre spot.

I understand what you're saying but AD at FB? he's not a fullback, we just saw how good he was at 5/8... Sam M to the eyes of some who saw him play in reggies didn't offer enough but look at what he has done... I reckon he is better than Twal or Huth or Mikaele... sometimes they just have to give these kids a try... again all they need is an opportunity, a chance to show if they can handle it or not

I trust them mate, I know nothing... I am just a supporter of the club

Has McIntyre been re signed yet? I know I wont be popular, but I am a bit worried we have seen the best he has got. I would not be paying a fortune for him to stay.

Hasn't he got a position with the Coaches Union ....

Just on Smith not getting a fair go.....
He joined the club as a development player in 2018 and played some Flegg then ISP that season. In 2019 he played ISP and didn’t really fire. He joined the full time NRL squad and has trained with the team. He has been given the same opportunities as others but has obviously not shown enough to the professional coaches to take up a position in our 30 man squad for 2021. Unfortunately it’s tough to make it, especially when a club like WTs is under pressure to improve their roster.
