He'll be here next year.

What's your link mate? You seem to know what's going on and you're fairly definite in your predictions.

It's a bit rude asking someone whose providing inside info what their link is. I'd just be greatful for the info.

WESTS Tigers forward Elijah Taylor could miss the end of the season with shoulder and rib injuries, but will this week confirm he will stay at the NRL club in 2018.

Taylor will be sent for scans on Sunday morning after he left Allianz Stadium in a sling following the 22-18 loss to the Sydney Roosters.

In further bad news for the Tigers, halfback Luke Brooks will also undergo scans on his troublesome hamstring ahead of Friday night’s clash with North Queensland.

His injury is considered far less serious, as he finished the game and his tests are considered only precautionary.

But Taylor’s pains are thought to be far more worrying, as aggravated his already-injured ribs in a tangle with the Roosters’ Blake Ferguson.

“I had Ferguson in a wrestle and I just heard my ribs pop,” Taylor told AAP. “I was pretty sore in the second half. I tackled (Boyd) Cordner and I just hurt my shoulder.

“I’m more concerned about the shoulder, I can jab my ribs. I’ve had rib issues for the past month but I will get scans on the shoulder tomorrow.”

Taylor’s long-term future has been up in the air for a number of months after he failed to take up an option in his deal at the Tigers to extend his current deal into next season.

He had been contemplating a return home to the Warriors, but has also received advice from doctors for his one-year-old daughter to remain in Sydney as she battles illness.

“I’m taking the doctor’s advice as always,” Taylor said.

“It’s a huge factor in the decision — a massive factor.” The Tigers will this week confirm both his and forward Matt Eisenhuth’s long- term future at the club into next season.

I don't want to know the link. I do like the info.

I will call our team 95% complete when i hear ET& ME confirmed signings. The tigers, at the moment are a very competitive team even with what Ivan has to work with this year. All our new signings, who we keep, after a full pre season getting the gafer tape to stick, we will be pushing hard up that ladder that has had a few rungs missing. I think the key is Ivan. He can turn teams and I'm loving it. COME ON TIGERS O N & FAR!!!!!

I really like ET, but I hope his game is reinvented in 2018… this year he has been a talking machine only, with little to no impact in attack....I hope next year he offers more in attack

If you watch ET closely, he spoils alot of attacks from the oppositions, slows the plays nicely with 'accidental interference'. He is by far our smartest cookie. He knows exactly how to control the tempo of games and has the respect of other players and officials.

We will miss him dearly if he misses the next few weeks or if he does leave. I certainly will relax when he is announced as here for the future.

We are getting there, Taylor just needs more help so he's not making 40-50 tackles per game. Hooth and Twal are helping sure-up the middle and Taylor is better used on the edge.

No his hitups are not going to be gangbusting charges but he is smart and he does take some good options in attack.

Did he do anything special? Hardly anyone did today but ET was there when it counted, made a lot of covering tackles, many 1-1.

He's a good all-around footballer and I don't see why you'd not want him to stay at the club, for all the lack of depth we have. ET fits well into a well-balanced side, something we still don't have yet.

There's a reason he's making that many tackles - He's being targeted because he doesn't hurt anyone….

He's slow and doesn't make many meters - Handy with the ball in hand yes, But is it enough to warrant his 500 a year price tag?

There's a reason we've improved of late and it's not because of ET.

ET is being targeted? He's literally the only player on our team that has any sort of wrestle; our halves are far from convincing, edges are suspect and we've got two of the slowest props in the game in Woods and Grant. ET was making that many tackles out of necessity.
We've improved because the rest of the team are playing closer to their ability, not sure what else you'd attribute it to.
The bloke hardly gets dominated with ball in hand, I'm sure if the coach told him to get in there and make 10 hit ups a game he'd be no slouch.

You're taking the Willie Mason line of argument. There is some potential truth but also Mason is a cop-out with an excuse for everything.

Players get targeted because they miss tackles. Maybe some players are happy to run at certain players because it doesn't hurt, but what's the point if they don't miss those tackles? Very happy to play against any footballer who looks for non-hurting tackles and in the process makes zero metres because he doesn't take hard or high-energy hitups and runs into blokes who chop him down every time.

It's also a dumb argument because most hitups in the game take place in the middle off the field. So if you are holding up the middle, you are in the space where most players run.

I'm not honestly going to expect a bloke of Elijah Taylor's stature to be putting on big hits and still keep up the defensive workload we need of him. I just need him to not miss too many tackles. The best hitters in our team our MMc and Edwards and they are hardly the reliable anchors of our defence.

But one thing that is abundantly clear, since Eiso and Twal have come on, with decent minutes and few missed tackles, the whole middle has been tidied up and we rely far less on ET making a thousand covering tackles.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce the re-signing of forward Elijah Taylor for the coming three years.

The new deal means that Taylor will remain with Wests Tigers until at least the end of 2020.

The Wests Tigers Vice Captain has taken to the field 36 times since arriving at the club in mid-2016 out of an NRL career of 142 games.

Taylor said that he was looking forward to the coming three years with Wests Tigers.

“It was definitely a decision that I took my time with as I’m getting older now but I’m really happy that it’s done now,” said Taylor. “Ivan coming in as Head Coach was a big factor in me deciding to stay. He’s an experienced coach and has coached me at both the Warriors and Penrith, he’s the reason I moved to Australia, knowing what kind of coach he is, what his principles are and the way he likes to play football was probably the biggest factor.

“We’re building a good culture here at Wests Tigers and I’m really looking forward to the next three years,” he said. “I’m really excited about the future here, there are a lot of new faces coming, we’re really building something special. I’ve played with a lot of the players coming and it’s going to be good for the club and good for our young players coming through. You want to have older guys come in and show the younger players the ropes, make them understand what it takes to play first grade every week.

“You learn a lot as you go on your journey in your career, I’ve learnt a lot being through the Warriors and Penrith systems,” said Taylor. “I’ve seen a lot on and off the field, probably those things off the field have made me a lot smarter and wiser in decision making and I have a lot of experience that I can pass on to the younger guys coming through here at Wests Tigers.”

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said that Taylor’s experience would be valuable to the club in the coming seasons.

"Elijah is a player that others love to play alongside,” said Cleary. “No task is beneath him and he always puts the team before himself.

“Our fans can look forward to seeing Elijah's game blossom in the coming years, Elijah will play a pivotal role in the future of the Wests Tigers,” he said.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said that Taylor was a leader both on and off the field.

“I was really happy when we were able to bring Elijah across to the club last year as I knew the kind of man that he is,” said Pascoe. “He’s proven himself time and time again to be a leader both in the game and out of it and that is an invaluable asset to have here at Wests Tigers.

“To have Elijah commit to Wests Tigers for the next three years is a massive boost for the club as we enter this exciting new phase, it will be great to have him leading the way,” he said.
