If your solicitor steals from you or costs you money through his or her incompetence you have insurance to cover your losses-called LawCover and it's an essential element of your lawyer's practising certificate. Probably too left field a concept for the morons at the NRL to grasp

Maybe I'm reading too far into this ...but get the feeling the bloke representing him was a mate and not a legal beagle

My point was that the NRL should make all player agents-mates or not-carry insurance to cover theft or incompetence by the agent resulting in their clients losing money.

I think the NRL should take responsibility for manager's in regards to brokering NRL contracts. But if players choose to let these guys be in charge of their money then it's no business of the NRL. ET is an adult.

Yeah totally agree ...problem is not everyone uses player managers and that is where it gets murky .....Teo in the past represented himself ...and I'm sure Benji said on Fox one night he was representing himself

Probably a lot more than we know of do so

Good point. Im a consultant and have to carry indemnity insurance in case my advice costs someone. Im sure financial advisors would be the same?

Was Elijah’s agent also his financial advisor? If he was then surely he would need a license? If he wasn’t licensed, then not much the license issuing authority can do about it, I would imagine?
I think the solution is more complex than starting a sinking fund for unscrupulous agents?
More lifestyle education is required. Agents should link with professionals who specialise in the needs of professional athletes. They should have a seamless referral network. Agents should specialise more in identifying the needs of their clients. The nrl should not issue a license to an agent who cannot produce evidence of this support network.

Sure the guy has gone bankrupt - the question is, where is the money - he has it but it is well hidden.
That's my take.

It should be the RLPA that looks after their clients (They don't seem to do too much at all). At the very minimum they could set the Insurance side up against bad contracts with managers or clubs. To do this they only have to liase with one of the good insurance companies e.g. Zurich, Alliance etc.etc.
Anyone but AMP.

Anyone but AMP.

Elijah opened 2 joint accounts plus a credit card, with this gutter con artist. He trusted the guy enough to take him on his honeymoon.

“There were 937 unauthorised transactions via the Westpac accounts, totalling more than $340,000 on holidays, expensive jewellery, gifts, flash hotels and motorcycles. According to court documents, funds were also transferred to Miles’ wife and used to repay a mortgage on property owned by a trust.”

This is so sad on many levels.

It is sad. On a positive note, it was just stated on another thread that he's landed a Super League deal with Salford.

After reading a few comments on the signing suggestions and rumours thread it’s obvious that some folk don’t understand what a Financial Planner actually does. Don’t understand what a Financial Advisor does. To be successful in any worthwhile venture you need to draw on the skills of others so you need to know what those skills are, and how they were acquired, wether by training, education or experience. This is what made Tim Sheens such a great coach. He recognised the skills of players and how best to utilise those skills.

Another castrated lamb.

Video doing the rounds of Elijah Taylor punching his manager and then threatening him with a knife to get his money back. Poor guy feel sorry for him.

Why would ET video that confrontation, can’t blame him for punching his manager but why video it.

Is it actually ET? I see a video of someone hitting Miles but I didn’t see who it was. Doesn’t seem like ET would do that plus he’s just signed a new deal overseas so surely he doesn’t risk it. I’ve noticed a lot of the kiwi boys getting behind Elijah so maybe it was someone he knew

The bloke in the video doesn’t sound like ET to me, no kiwi accent.
