Folau could be welcomed back - Sky News

I am not getting into the Folau bashing as I do feel for the guy in a way ... family ties and the pressure brought to bare by the head of family’s can be very damaging to a person, unfortunately this is happening in this case especially with a person that is high profile. Yes he is an adult but we all know the pressure that families can bring to the table.

Ben Fordham reported on Sky News just now that Beattie doesn't speak for the game and he has it on good authority that Izzy would be welcomed back IF he deletes the instagram post causing all the drama.

Many clubs interested he said (duh!)

**Fordham also said Folau's Dad, who is a pastor, has told Izzy that if he deletes the post he will go to hell.**

Personally, I'm offended by his post about drunks going to hell, but I think I can look past his views 😛

His dad didn't seriously say this did he? No sane Christian pastor would say something like this. Way too much emotional blackmail/manipulation going on there!

As for Izzy himself, I have no problem with him or his post, he can post whatever he likes. God it's nothing compared to some of the truly outrageous crap people put on social media, it was just a Bible verse - some will believe it, many won't.

If the wife beaters and drunk drivers of the football world (of which there are many) are still allowed to play the game, get kudos and earn a good living from their careers then Izzy should be as well. If he ends up playing in the NRL again then great, but I'm not sure I would want us to sign him now, purely because I think he's getting older and is past his best. He's been out of the game for a long time now and we've already signed too many players that are past their best, over the years, and it hasn't done us any good.

Why are we even talking about him as the NRL as stated on a few occasions that he will not be back.. This time could be used for more pages on DWZ and him not coming to us :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

@hsvjones isnt it just beatie not the nrl formally. He doesnt have outright say in the matter. And why do we talk about anything really? Just a way to kill time and form opinions

He was forgiven for his tattoos & sins when he was baptized then - presumably @ his father's church. I've got time 4 Izzy

How come he didn't also say people with tattoos will also go to hell but fortunately i repented, although i didn't change my ways and have my tattoos removed.

The crazy thing is that if Folau had just posted the actual Bible Verse, he would probably not have gotten into any trouble.

The verse is actually as follows from Galatians. It doesn't mention the "H" words which got him sacked (Homosexual and Hell).

*Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God*

@Abraham it's from 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God".

I guess im against the norm id take him in a heart beat. We took packer we let musgrove hang around we resigned chee kam all of which have committed worse acts then izzy.

Yeah, I'm with you.

I just think you should separate the player from their opinions/beliefs.

Beattie talks about an "inclusive" sport, but it's not Folau's decision to include or exclude anyone. The NRL is inclusive full stop. Having a player in the game with certain views won't change that, the same way as having a member of society with certain views won't change how laws are made.

Including people with views that we don't like is more important than shutting them out.

There's a brilliant man by the name of Daryl Davis. He is a black musician and ant-racism activist. The man attends KKK rallies in the USA and becomes friends with these people. He truly embodies what it means to respect peoples right to free speech, even though you don't support their views. In the process, he has converted at least 200 white supremacists to leave the KKK, just by listening and befriending them. The lesson here is if both sides dig their heels in, it becomes trench warfare with no resolution in sight.

Have a look at a short video of him discussing his methods and watch his documentary "Accidental Courtesy" if you're interested to learn more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uoff4vWsnps

Yeah, apparently he did...his Dad is more hard line that Izzy by the looks of it.

The tigers seem to need a player who can draw 4-5 players and offload, and catch a crossfield bomb above maybe anyone else, who'll also boost crowds and tv ratings and guarantee a top four spot so if we can fit folau it'd be a win win
