Mahoney has a great name (loved Police Academy) - but as far as footballers go, I'd go Grant every time (besides Four Weddings and a Funeral, a winner every time!).
Seriously, this article is page filler fodder.

He pronounces it weird though, Maarny, Ive never heard it pronounced that way before

Lots of O'Mahoneys are "oh-mah-nee", so it makes sense in that respect. Being an Irish surname I believe it's always supposed to be a "ma" sound rather than a "moe" sound, the difference being whether the native Irishman says "oh-mah-nee" or "oh-ma-ha-nee".

This is true of a lot of Irish names that have been anglicised, e.g. Doherty (doe-her-ty vs doh-her-ty), Gallagher (gal-ag-ger vs gal-a-her) and O'Shaughnessy (oh-shon-nes-see vs oh-shock-nes-see). And when I say "anglicised", I think a lot of the mispronunciation originates from American speakers, though I think lots of Aussies also balls-up a majority of Irish names.

Any luck straightening those bananas yet

I would offer Melbourne Brooks, Seyfarth and Momirovski for Grant. Sign Grant for 3 years on 2 million dollar contract. Brooks in the Storm system will be great for his career. Storm needs centres and Second Rowers.

I think one thing people are overlooking is that Harry Grant will become a free agent the moment Cameron Smith decides to play on. I.e. his price will treble and he can go 'anywhere'.

It is not like he will automatically extend with us. He will be completely free to sign anywhere and offers will likely be in the 700 - 800 range if he keeps up this form and wins dally M hooker of the year / maybe even player of the year / plays for QLD.

Yeah but the Broncos and Titans have more hookers on their list than Geo's credit card bill

Cowboys though ...Townsville is just a massive version of Yeppoon and Granville is on the way out

Still working on the prototype, it's keeping me in business year on year.

@jirskyr those lunch breaks are killers

Having to retrain your entire work force ...oldies but goodies

Harry is good un as well ...lets hope the football Gods grant us a miracle and he stays

The biggest problem with Mahoney is a lot of his flat passes are forward and don't get pulled up unfortunately.

Grant every time. no contest.

An irish alcohol co?

Am I the only one that thinks that Harry gets really rattled and lost in these type of games...I’m thinking it’ll be a good thing when Liddle comes back to share the work load...Plus I don’t think it’ll be to long until other teams figure out his weaknesses - such as, his got a great passing game on 1 side but pot luck on the other plus I noticed he jams our attack when he does those stutter passes like his not sure who to pass it to, so fingers crossed Jacob isn’t to far away is what I’m thinking.

In Harry’s defence I think he has been playing injured (wrist and some say elbow?). Additionally, think he needs people to push up with him in support. He may take a few steps and catch the markers napping but needs someone to run by his side to shaft the ball onto, otherwise he is caught in a middle ground of having half taken the line on and having no one hungry to take advantage on the outside. Also made 57 tackles with 2 missed which I thought was a good effort

Harry does no wrong, sorry.

It's just outstanding what hes been doing. This guy is playing like a seasoned superstar, yet hes only a handful of games into his career.

He will need a break soon. First year of continuous first grade and playing long minutes. He will fatigue at some point. Hopefully Liddle is close so Grant can get a week off when needed.

Agree. Looks like he is carrying a couple of injuries as well. A rest would do him good to freshen up.

If he is going back to Melbourne, run him into the ground.

Agree @Tiger_Steve, he's been of great service for us but we also need to protect from burnout. Will be interesting to see how Madge uses the bench over the next few weeks, considering we are getting some of players back.

Despite the boys' club and Simms talking up the Eeks hooker, Grant did more than enough to impress Qld selectors.

Oh he's clearly superior to Mahoney. Not that Mahoney is bad but he's one-dimensional.

I don't think he quite has 80 minutes in him yet, not consistently anyway. If Liddle can get back on the park, it makes sense to give him a run off the bench for 20 minutes to ease him back into FG and give Grant a spell. Make no mistake, Liddle when fit is also quite a handy 9 and with his speed, will also give us an edge through the middle.

Injuries aside, Liddle is a very good footballer. Really hope he enjoys an injury free run

Was thinking that we could maybe sign Cameron Smith just for next year than we will have Liddle and Sympkim ready for 2022 just mainly want a good goal kicker and he's one of the best

Not sure if serious. The chance of him playing at any other club are a million to one. He’d retire first.
