Help me (and others) keep faith in Madge...

Put Madge aside for a moment.

What other available\attainable coach would bring us any better success in 2021?

Madge will be here for the structural rebuild this organisation needs from a player/cultural perspective.

While we've been in the comp for 21yrs - the last few years have seen things finally achieved which should have been achieved early in our existence.

- Majority ownership
- profitability
- state of the art training facilities

Now its about translating the above into success on the field (Dare I say, made easier because of the items stated above).

Keep the faith and see the improvements that have been made.

Jason Taylor got two years and was gone three games into his third year because the board said in 2017 no more floggings and mediocrity. I like Madge but the confidence for next year just isn't there for me. Some of those defensive numbers over the past weeks are terrible.

Mate were you paying attention the last 6 weeks ? They have scored a billion tries down the corridor of Mikalele Garner benji Joey. 3 of those guys will either be replaced in the starting lineup next year or forced retirement. To me when mika goes off the defence tightens up in the middle. Last night was arm grabbing central , and it’s been consistent with him this year. The other side was leaky tonight because Jrey still shoots out the line at 32 years old. Brooks just makes the right decision . That try where thier 11 went through where jrey was after stepping inside Lawrence was case in point . It’s all good to have rush defence , but the whole line needs to go with you , or you have to make the tackle .
My point is , the troops are either already here and biding their time , or on the way. You can’t blame Madge for that . Benji and the team have decided to eturb to the tigers of 2007 , and well that doesn’t win football games in 2020

I will defend Maguire while our cap is the mess it's in. As I have said numerous time I can't see one other team in the comp that has there highest money earners as their worst contributers. When that is corrected he will be judged like all other coaches - by results. I will add the Titans pack would eat ours up and spit them out - no surprise at all how Holbrook has got them going.
As for Payten - "jobs for the boys, whiteanter" -
we could have had him, no problem with me.

Hate to break it to you, but all bar Reynolds and Packer, this is Madge’s team. He’s signed them all.

Yeah, nothing shouts stability more than another coaching change before the contract is up.

But sooner than later someone needs to realize he's not the right one

Sooner than later someone needs to realise that the players we have ,mainly the NRL seasoned players are professional football players on high contracts and should know the game inside and out..they should also understand that they need to tackle, play the ball correctly, pass the ball and backup your mates...unfortunately when these players dont reach expectations because of their ability as seasoned professionals and adults its easier to blame the coach who is trying to win games with some of these baffoons.

You're correct TT but there aren't enough top quality players out there. This is why there needs to be less teams in the NRL. Either clubs have to die or be forced into mergers and if they want expansion then they must relocate. Personally a 12-14 team comp would provide a better product without doubt.

You are not breaking anything to me. Reynolds and Packer are two of our highest earners and yet they contribute squat. It's a massive handicap and no good for balance. The players know what they are on while they cop the hidings for poor performances - these two can barely make the run on squad yet take home the big bucks.

It was good last year as well. For whatever reason this year it didn’t happen . I will say a lot of our tries came from outside the 20m . I don’t have the stat but the eyeball test makes me feel like this is a big contributor as well as , he gets at least 25% of them deflected by out stretched defensive legs .

Mate, you have always been a very good poster on this forum but this dislike for Madge is really tainting your posts. I really hope this dislike isn't coming from where I think it is.

Brooks had a really good 2019 as well let’s not forget. Was like top 3 for try assists and his short kicking again was excellent.

Bloke just seems lost this year.

Simona was a great centre and at one point our winning record was dependant on when he played
JAC only player when he did because Rankin was selected ahead of him. But you can't ignore the Teddy factor and his value to the team or any team

And Mbye , and eisenhuth , and Taylor , and seyfarth , and Smith , and nofa , and Clarke , and McQueen , and McIntyre, and Mikalele ... you’re right , apart from those 2 .

I know it's not going to happen, but I'd love to see our roster under a Bennett, Bellyache, Robinson or Flanagan, I think it will be plainly evident that it's not the players

It's not the players?? Are you serious? A fair few of these plodders have had more than one coach in their tenure at WT.
It's 100% the players. Starting with the myth of all myths Brooks.

I don't think it is the players honky, Brooks won half of the year not long back,so he obviously has ability...There's only one myth in this club and that's Maguire, but I except your opinion

Not sure you can call someone who’s won 2 premierships a myth

He might not win one with us but he’ll make sure most of the average players are gone by the time he leaves the club that’s for sure.

Whoever takes over from Madge will have a much easier time than Madge when he took over from cleary.
