Hopoate signing with Eels

TBF he is a fullback (or will be)

taking channel 7 at face value, if Hoppa is on $800k and Sandow is $500k, (the bottom end of media estimates) and Hayne is on $500k, given the hoopla at the time of his signing, that would seem to be accurate.
Those 3 players are on $1.8 mil, 40% of the current cap.

the figure has to be wrong

Fui Fui and Hindmarsh wouldn't come cheap either
Mr Schubert better go and pay a visit to Parramatta me thinks

Hindy won't be there in 2014 (he's 32 now, he'll be 34/35 for that season) and Fuifui is the same age. Hayne will be the big earner there, but he'll be available for salary cap concessions then (debuted in 2006), Sandow is on big coin, but that's about it. The salary cap will be a lot larger in 2014 if we get a decent TV rights deal.

The article I read says "Reported to be 800,000 a year" so u can take that with a grain of salt. But seriously even if it they pay 600,000 a year they are crazy!!!! We are talking about a kid who is about to take a 2 year sabbatical from the game, who knows what type of mindframe he will be in after his mission and whether he will have the same enthusiasm for the game. This happens all the time when the "next big thing" comes into the game people go crazy and when they leave bemoan who will we ever replace him and within a year another prodigy has emerged. Honestly does anyone really notice Karmicheal Hunt, Israel, and Sonny Bill missing from our game??? I know I for one don't think our game is any worse for their departure. So that's why I think you would be crazy to pay Hopate anything over $400000

Now they are reporting 1.7 for 2 seasons.

Parra would want to hope he doesnt stack his treadley during his sabbatical!

No chance for a 21 year old winger…800k lol

THere is no way this guy can justify any where near this amount in relation to his worthj on and off the park. That's way above benji dollars.

Then again Parra are stupid. Look at the money they through at morts after half a successful season.

Ok according to Fox Sports the $800000 for Hoppa is a package deal. $500000 a year for Will and they have also signed Will's younger brother Jamil and given his father a coaching role. Fox Sports says that by all accounts Will's younger brother Jamil has more potential than Will…... Still cannot believe they would pay him $500000 WAY WAY OVER VALUED!!!

Young Hoppa was interviewed after the grandfinal and I thought he said he would be happy to stay at Manly, something about being the club he loves, um! He's entitled to get as much money as he can and good luck to him, the word 'reportedly' says it all.

I think the maximum you should pay even for the best winger in the NRL would \should be $300 -350 K
The people inside them create the opportunities for these guys with passes and kicks and they are the ones who should get the big bucks

Salary Cap Auditor is apparently making a visit to Parra, in essence, to run an eye over the component of the deal that involves his father. I know Hoppa Snr is a sandwich short of a picnic, but really, riding off the success of your son for financial gain? Absolute low life. I fully expect the Mormons will get their cut as well.

Apparently John Hopoate hasnt been given any deal at the eels. Osborne sayed so this afternoon after announcin Will and his brothers had signed.
