I know it’s been said…

My thoughts also…
I feel we garnish about 1% of interest from the hierarchy at WA. It seems there’s just a football team to give them something to entertain friends and guests with…. They don’t seem to care to make it successful (and we’re not even the first team they’ve run like this)
Balmain was all for the football - without a business brain between any of them.

I don’t feel we’ll ever be successful under the current ownership model… it just doesn’t seem high on the priority list,
It’s often mentioned that the Wests Tigers are rather self sufficient. Coupled with the NRL Grant and the money made by the club through its own programs I’d say that WA are actually profiting off WT regardless of success.

The thing that changed parra was most of the board and the CEO got the arse after cheating the cap. Forced change.
We sacked no one and the board can't be voted out so more plodding on for us I'm afraid. I've already lived through multiple wooden spoons with Wests. It changed nothing
100%

The name Wests is and has been synonymous with wooden spoons and incompetent corporate governance.

The day Ashfield Wests took over Balmain's share of the joint venture was the day the actual core function of winning footy games at this club became an after-thought!

The bit your missing is, what part convinces you that Wests Ashfield wants to run a successful professional football club that is only linked to them due to finances.
These boofheads miss a lot!!

Wests Ashfield have zero idea or tangible desire to make us actually successful in our core business!

They are old-school committee men who nod off after lunch has been served pre-game!

The old "thanks for coming" crowd who are just happy to make up the numbers!

This is the same utterly moronic Board who stuck with Pascoe as CEO after he made an idiotic transparent cap error & announced it to the media without declaring to the NRL (that never even eventuated).

Copping a 6 month personal suspension (paid holiday) and 2 years of cap penalties for the club!!

That dropkick Marina Go was making threats of legal action left & right - only to get advice we had no case because the #@$* of a supposed CEO had effectively given himself up to SMH in an attempt to placate Farah after JT screwed him....

Pathetic!!!

Maybe to a small degree - Nothing worth Bragging about....
That certainly hasn't always been the case though.

I always remember a comparison getting done (Maybe 10-12 Years ago)
WA and Balmain Leagues granted the Football operations like 150k each for the year (300k total).
In turn - Canterbury Leagues gave the Dogs 4 mil....

As I mentioned, The Football club seems way back in a long line of WA's priorities....
WT's are more of a Garnish to their portfolio.

5 losses to start the season is enough to force change. don’t have to wait for the spoon.
And as for a staunch brooks fan to now be saying we need the spoon, well, it’s a bit rich.
I don’t think that is enough.. They just keep making excuses. There’s always something - Missing players, training the house down but just can’t put it together on the field yet etc. I think they’re delusional.

If the NRL had any brains - they'd give us every advantage possible to be a successful team.

We aren't a hated club, in fact we're a lot of peoples second favourite team.

We are adored and thought of highly - from the Benji days.

A lot of players coming through idolised Benji and Farah....

Those times are obviously a distant memory and the kids now are watching guys like Walsh, Ponga, Paps, etc.

But if we were playing finals, no doubt we'd sell out crowds and bring some excitement in..

It's a missed opportunity by the NRL.

A staunch Brooks fan? I’ve said over and over id pack his bags for a better player. Staunch indeed

For all the violin players out there - answer this. If you owned a business that had been poorly managed but had now turned things around and was profitable but one section wasn't pulling its weight. There were performance issues and a number of employees just couldn't be bothered doing the job and although it wasn't reflecting on the books it was hurting the integrity of your product. So do you immediately sack the board - don't think so. Maybe sack the foreman of the section - possibly if its shown he is making no effort to get the troublemakers working properly. Or do you sack the bludgers that are either incapable or couldn't be bothered doing the job.

I don't know how he survived that.

If you don’t think us losing all the time is holding us back financially you are just plain delusional. Boomer home loans is a sponsor. Heard of them? We are the pits.

I’ve always thought that too. However Dragons, Bulldogs, Eels, Newcastle and even Manly fans would probably think more or less the same.
I think the reality is that the NRL would not consider pouring energy into those clubs or WT, as there are two clubs that need the most success and exposure for the good of NRL and rugby league, namely Rabbitohs and Broncos.
And I don’t necessarily disagree.

We will only ever be a feel good story. Prolonged success has never been in our history (as individual clubs before the merger, or certainly after) and doesn’t feel like it’s ever going to be our destiny.
