The reality is, by round 6 next year, he will be shown the door. Don't be fooled by Hagipantelis talking up extension contracts, thats just pumping up his tyres so he can do something with the current bunch of misfits (excluding our young up- and- comers)we have.

I'm not be being fooled by your "inside" knowledge that he could be gone by round 6 next year either.

This is the most depressing thread I’ve read. Must be those old tigers/magpies fans. Haven’t bothered going back enough to check. I’m sure I’ll be told anyway FFS

That's a bit below the belt I'd say, and not something that I thought you would have said.

Yes, I'm one of those Old Tigers/Magpies fans and I have not added to depression. Then again I'm guilty anyway, right?

Yes it’s not everyone. I’m just over this year really. Completely over it.

The roster is being revised. Poor contracts take time to be rid of. Progress is being made. The young up and comers are at WTs because of Maguire. Stability is required not constant change and undermining. Hopefully the Club has learnt from its mistakes of the past.

Oldmagpie, I am a lifeline Tiger supporter and have formed the view some of our fans just enjoy intrigue and infighting. I hope you are not in this camp.

If Madge fails to turn the WT into a successful team, and by this I mean semi finals footy in 2021 and beyond if he stays...**I see the club throwing in the towel....**

I honestly wish they would right now, there’s gotta be more to life than following a bunch of perennial losers year after year after year - it does nothing for my mental health.

This year I was very hesitant about becoming a member of the club, as I have been for the past 13 years. But they made what I thought was a couple of good signings so I decided to stay on as a member......but honestly this mob are just awful, nothing seems to change does it !

Apparently we have a good coach and a lot of the players are good quality, but this just doesn't convert to wins, we seem to have too many ups and downs, most inconsistent no heart., and no pride it seems- and yes as ardent followers of this club, I believe it can have some effect on our mental health:-1: ( and the coaches too I'm thinking )

I wouldn't be surprised if Madge throws in the towel, most of the time after these losses he looks as if he's be crying, as most of us are almost doing as well......just not good enough.
To me this loss puts and end to our season:disappointed_relieved:

Jeez, you give up easy.

Maybe you need some resilience that you think the team needs.

Madge will be giving them crying at the next session - they'll probably
wish they hadn't been born.

Give up easily..........I reckon a lot of the hard core members/fans gave up years ago, they probably didn't give the club 13 years of hoping that we would at least get to finals (which we did once since 2005).

I think I have more reilience than the team that's for sure.

Russell are you happy with how we are performing ?:astonished:

I think Madge is doing a great job, sorting out the deadwood contracts he inherited and making use of who he can when he can, bringing in young talented players to get the experience at NRL level, dropping poor performers to let all know they are not exempt, dealing with a pandemic that has crippled many businesses and employment...and he is doing the best he can to change the culture and stability of this club....

But lets start the Madge will be gone if we dont make the finals this year garbage....

If your honest with yourself, most would have known we werent finals bound this year but an improved attitude and culture was always on the agenda, some games we lost and those losses are frustrating but I can see what Madge is trying to do...in his own words the losses we have had with this team is ""between their ears"" and hopefully he makes the mental toughness of these young guys and in particular the longer serving players a priority....

True winners don't like to surround themselves with losers

If we haven't made the 8 by the end of 2021 .....he won't stay

Firstly I am glad you have more resilience than the team.

If you look at what has transpired over the last 8-9 years I think we
are probably lucky to be in the position we are in. i.e. After the
earlier board screwed up, after previous coaches have screwed up
"Big Time," after having that "Rat" from the Pamfers play absolute
havoc with our salary cap and leave, with us holding the bag. We
are still paying for that and again next year.

On the positive side we have a good coach and staff, good
management, future COE not far away, the signing of what looks to
be some very talented youngsters, the possibility of signing a
couple of more players to fill the limited spots we have left.

It will take a few years for the young blokes to reach what you
could call an acceptable level - they will be in/out until they learn
enough to be consistently good, some will fall by the wayside,
hopefully not too many.

It will take time but with all that has been happening to us I could
say I am happy with the team - not with the odd performance and
not with the odd performance with a few individual players, Mbye
and Jennings come to mind. I, like yourself and everyone else
would like to have a stable team of very good players being
consistent and winning most games, playing finals and winning
a few of those as well.

As we know, no one wants to accept and have the patience to wait
for this to happen - if you want to support the Tigers it is a
prerequisite - for me it has been a long haul since attending my
first game in 1950 at Leichhardt - more downs than ups but for
God's sake "it is the Tigers" I can forgive them anything.

However, time is running out for me but not for a lot of the other
die hard Tiger fans. I would rather support a struggling Tiger team
than any other club in the NRL - "Go, you Mighty Tigers."

I don't think its all doom and gloom. Wests only need to find NRL standard players to replace the current 1,6,7,9...plus a winger..and a center or two...maybe a lock and a couple of forwards by early next year and they will be competitive!

Sounds good to me but it might just be easier to amalgamate

I think that Madge will be given the opportunity to see out his contract until next season, Extension well it all depends how we perform next season i am sure there will be a mid season review.

At the same time there should be a CEO review as both positions should be measured together. Lots of the over paid player contracts were also on his watch as well and needs to shoulder some of that blame.

I like Madge however i don't want to see a Public dressing down of the players again in front of the camera's, do that after the game or debrief next day after reviewing footage or at the selection meeting.

Stability we do need a long term coach like Sheens however the players also need to feel valued, lets hope he can deliver and have his contract renewed.

Administrators/Coaches/Players all need to lift there standards if we are ever to be a Top 4 team consistently.

Lastly we need a goal kicker and a different Captain next season, think there will be some current players with contracts on the open market after this season.

If he's going to be extended it will be this year. It would be an unnecessary distraction for the club going into 2021 without knowing who the coach will be the following year.

I think that will play a major role. The club has Had so much instability the last few years, kicking down Madge an extra year now should help with that.

Good point lets see what happens the remaining rounds.
Right now personally up until last game i would be stating good chance, after last game not so sure, most importantly would like to see who intends retaining and shopping around, Cheers.

He is a class act.
Keeping him is not negotiable IMO.

Hap, while it may be true that soaring like an eagle 🦅 is easier when one is not surrounded by a rafter of turkeys 🦃 , true winners are more objectively focussed and very reluctant to throw in the towel. I’m pleased Lee and Madge have addressed the continuity issue and doubts about the coach’s contract , publicly.
There will be a few turkeys moving on soon.

Thanks Balmain Jnr, that was a revealing interview. I think coaches before him have also eluded to WT needing a cultural change. Of course us fans don’t see that as eyebrow raising news. Blind Freddy knows WT is the most poorly run organisation in the NRL. We see it manifest itself in player recruitment..older players signing for superannuation payments. At least this has changed with Madge and Hartigan. The question Madge very wisely refused to answer directly was “how long will this take?” And that is what we want to know. The encouraging signs are there and I believe if Madge stays on long enough and the entire organisation does not resist change, then we will live in the top 8 and see another GF trophy.

I think this is where we should question everything. I trust the coach and he knows they needed the dressing down but why then is it made public? did he ask for it to to be televised? there should be a line drawn - what happens in the dressing sheds stays in there and never to be aired on TV... shouldn't the sheds be treated as hallowed ground?
