Moltzen's contract was upgraded and extended the begining of 2010…try to keep up...

Wests Tigers has today extended the contracts of three of its most exciting young players in full-back **Tim Moltzen,** winger Beau Ryan, and centre Blake Ayshford.
>
All three were off contract at the end of next season but their new deals tie them to the club until the end of the 2012\. .
>
Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said the club was thrilled to be able to extend their contracts.

better convene another meeting of the secret society..

LU is not a reliable source....

That statement said the contract was Extended not upgraded. The old deal would apply for this year.

Thanks for the info Ron …. what you have explained sounds very possible!!

Ok since we are playing guessing games….What about Benji's upgrades......He has never been off contract do you think the paid him is '08 money agreed to.... in '09...or then all the way up to 2015.....

mate i dont know, but the upgrade is for 2011 2012 not 2010 which is why this whole mess is happening now

and what threats ink….seriously i just heard you were a vegetarian and you dont like beef? its only a rumour

If his contract is based on the number of first grade he plays in a season and he is not playing first grade I see no reason for the club not to 'activate' this clause of his contract. his manager would have advised him of the risks in signing such a contract. it's bad luck but hardly the clubs fault and hardly the reason for 15 players to play like they couldn't give a damn last Sunday. and, if benji was so worried why wouldn't he do what he has allegedly asked the other two to do, that is, take a $100,000 cut himself this year and have it backended?
A simple explanation is that we were just terrible on Sunday

so will benji stand up for his mate and take a stand (ie: not play against the knights) or will this issue be put to bed?

the clock is ticking…

personally, I think Tim Moltzen is the future of this club. If I were Steve Humphreys i'd be telling him that a nice fat 200k+ p/a pay packet is waiting for him in 2011 (plus any amount that he has been made to be at a disadvantage now)

rumor would make sense to some of there (esp benji's) form in the last few weeks.
I mean obviously its just a numbers game via salaries atm.. surely benji is on 400k or so he could shed a bit of his and get backloaded later or whatever.

Something that is so easily sorted out has prob caused this shitty form over the last few weeks makes me sick.
Not like there hard labourers trying to put there 52 kids through school.

Maybe (and I'm just guessing) Benji doesn't feel it's his duty to cover the amount? He knows the club should have to - they make it clear they won't. So maybe in his mind (given the cap issue is because Farah and Gibbs didn't end up falling into the long service jnrs thing) he thought the next logical option was to ask them to cover it?? Just a thought.

Not even a thought! Why bother?

Farah & Gibbs are entitled to their contractually guaranteed bonuses! Moltz is not due to injury!

well if the early word coming from Camp Newcastle is correct, it looks like things may have taken a turn for the better…

here's hoping!

That's not good though. It's not Farah or Gibbs that made the mistake. They shouldn't have to do that.

yeah I agree. I'm just thinking out loud, who knows what he is thinking if any of this is true. It was just a thought.

nothing i posted in that thread is false, you are just a hater and have been from the get go.

so ill put it out here so everyone can stop arguing THIS IS ONLY A RUMOUR

moltzen in 08 signed a contract mainly incentive based on the number of FG games he plays each season

he gets injured v cowboys

WT are declared to be 100k over the salary cap because the muppets in admin screwed up gibbs and farahs juniors clause in the salary cap

WT activate the clause in moltzen contract about amount of FG games he plays in a season and decide to cut his deal back to the minimum FG match payments which i think is $1200 so add that up over 18 games and thats all moltz is gonna get paid for the rest of 2010.

The only reason WT admin activate this claus is to keep them under the salary cap because of their initial stuff up

benji asks the 2 players involved to sacrafice their money for this season to be back paid in the next season or 2 so tim can get his full salary for 2010

both players refuse to do so and the rest is history

this is only a rumour and dont take it as fact

what was the actual rumor before the secret society met.
what you have said there seems like a bunch of opinions added in.

so help me figure this out and let me know if my understanding of the salary cap is wrong.
match payments are backloaded when figuring out a players contract value for each year.
they are also capped at a maximum of 13 games.
if you play 6 games then it is only the bonus x 6 and if you play 20 it is bonus x 13.
the value of moltzen is his 2010 base plus his appearance fees for last year which were capped at only 13.
(people should also take note of this number when players are still being selected after half a season of mediocrity)
every team pays for players no longer on their roster because we backload calculations.

this means any salary dispute is not because of gibbs and farah deals.
even if it was calculated this year moltzen would have been getting around $8800 a game.
i find it hard to believe a manager agrees to that type of difference.

edit:i think the 13 cap is for wins not matches, which means that because the tigers never win 13 games we get no advantage. :brick:
that would in fact lower the moltzen bonus of $8800 a game.
but doesn't change the fact calculations are from the previous year.

now it is possible that moltzen has a problem with the club and his salary.
he signed the deal and the tigers executed it.
if benji has a problem with it he should pay back money the club paid him while sitting out week after week on the sidelines.
if moltzen wanted security he should have taken the bigger base salary.

there may be some truth to the rumor, but the details seem a little blurry to me.
i hope you can see why.
and if anyone else can see what i am missing, feel free to clear things up for me.

Ahh Kul I see you have the real source of it.
To make your post a bit clearer, can you please insert `flat' into your post - just before the end.
Sunday was a form of `industrial action'
Keep peeled for the DT website about 5 minutes past midnight on friday morning people

Nothing there we dont already know, yet another in the know knowing nothing much at all it seems

I don't have a clue about any of this but I know one thing, Moltzen is our answer to the halfback problem that has been going on now for 4 seasons, I truly hope we don't lose him.

What happened to the….TIGERS TURMOIL headline on the back page of the Telecrap.....

I smell cover up.... :unamused:
