He was supposed to put pressure on the kicker without making contact. That is the rules. You can't make a poor play into a good one by stating the effort was good.
Don't know how you can say it wasn't an effort play by a player, who from what I saw, came pretty close to charging down a field goal attempt to protect a lead in the dying minutes of a game.
Sure it went wrong and he made contact with legs totally unintentionally, but by the same token he could have done nothing, not put any pressure on the kicker and allowed him an easier shot with no pressure at all for the field goal.
It's football and we are the Wests Tigers that can usually find a way to lose a game, but we are improving and that has to be a pleasing thing. I mentioned elsewhere that I was at the game and from what I saw, even at 18-0 we were the better team everywhere except on the scoreboard.
Last season they would have run riot and put a score on us, as a matter of fact they did.
I have to say that as good as Fogarty's kicking game was there was still an element of luck attached to all 3 of their tries and they were still unable to score against us other than through those kicks, I won't even bother talking about how at least one of those tries should not have been awarded.
At some stage we find the way to win games in those sorts of situations and luck starts to come our way, Isaiah goes for the charge down and misses his legs and Jamal Fogharty accidentally kicks Asaiah in the head and we get the penalty for a careless contact with the head.
I guess that's just footy and some day the ball starts to bounce our way.
