There is an old saying "Self praise is no recomendation".Hastings needs to think before speaking,i know it's a fluff piece but what people say in them will be used against them by detractors for years

Could just give the captaincy Brooks who struggles to string a sentence together on camera and offers little leadership or game icing ability on the field. Not saying Hastings is the logical choice as captain however he sure plays like a leader and isn't afraid to do the talking on and off the pitch.

It’s not logical. It’s actually illogical. Hasn’t done anything you have described at NRL level against the top sides.

Neither has anyone else in the squad except Tamou. Whether he's done it at NRL against top sides is irrelevant really, the fact is he has the qualities of a leader. He has captained the Combined Nations Allstars team which automatically makes him more qualified than 99% of the squad.

That’s such a big deal that I had to google it.

Name anyone in the current squad more qualified other than Tamou considering AD wont be there to start the season. I'm not saying he deserves it straight up however it's more a reflection of the serious void in leadership.

Twal, Stefano, Liddle, Garner, Laurie

lol serious? Liddle will be lucky to be there by Christmas, Laurie and Stef have both played 1 season each. Garner rumoured contstantly to be on the way back to Manly. Twal is the only one among those names even close to being worthy of the captaincy. No disrespect to Stef or Laurie either.

Liddle and garner are not even guaranteed to be in the side. Stefano and Laurie are rookies still learning their role.

I’m not saying they are worthy of being captain, but all have more runs on the board than Hastings who hasn’t played NRL for 4 years.

He was a man of steel recipient in the UK.
Several steps above those two in terms of experience.

Means nothing when you are coming up against top NRL sides week in week out.

Had 4 yrs in UK, made 3 grand finals and won a man of steel. I'd say he's a lot more qualified than a rookie who still wears a riff jersey on his day off or a prop whos played one season.

Ordinarily I would agree, luckily he will be coming into the NRL when it at its weakest.

Lol I don’t care what he’s done other there. He hasn’t proven jack in the NRL, and the only club who were interested are favourites for the spoon. I think we can agree Twal is more qualified though, so it wouldn’t be Hastings if somehow Tamou gets punted, which he won’t anyway

Of that list maybe Twal.

Liddle and garner are not even guaranteed to be in the side. Stefano and Laurie are rookies still learning their role.

What do you think Hastings is in NRL terms? He’s only played 20 more games than Laurie and Stefano

Had 4 yrs in UK, made 3 grand finals and won a man of steel. I'd say he's a lot more qualified than a rookie who still wears a riff jersey on his day off or a prop whos played one season.

Lol I don’t care what he’s done other there.

Luckily for the club people who know Rugby League do. He isn’t our usual level recruit.

Our club know Rugby League. An oxymoron if ever I’ve heard one. How many good NRL clubs were interested in him?
