Think the stumbling block with Hastings was a 200000 quid transfer fee to break his contract, which gets counted against our cap and is essentially dead money
But were a dead and buried club in 2021 unless we get a defence coach AND an organising half, and neither Brooks nor Douhi nor Mbye are the latter
Madge has to roll the dice on Hastings to save his own coaching career IMO...he's bought more deadwood than Ivan tbh, with only Lucy and Laurie having a crack and looking like NRL contenders.
Joffa/Tamou/Douhi/JoeyL and Koepa either underperforming or just dont have sufficient skills to make it,and JtJ too early to tell whether he still has it
I like Madge, but so far Im VERY underwhelmed.Needs stronger recruitment and retention plus player indivudual skill development (most are going backwards),and new approaches to fire up motivation and ownership
Were heading for the Broncos spoon unless something changes..fast

I think you are being too critical of Joffa and Tamou.

Nah.....theyre both recent SOO players and were comprehensively out played by Roosters reserves.Aggression was what got Joffa there a few yrs ago,and hes just going thru the motions.Tamou hired for leadership ..lack of talk was damning, but the brush off by Collins said it all.Think Stefano and Musgrove will offer twice as much at half the price
Early days, but both big bucks props are both shaping up as Packer 2.0
Madge chose em,and its his job to motivate them

Disagree, the mistackle by Tamou was disgraceful but both he and Joffa have been solid outside of that and fulfilled their roles. In saying that I think Stefano has shown some good signs and am very pleased to have Musgrove back.

if you watch it again you’ll see Liddle slipped over which made Tamou look like he made a clean miss, it was a 4m wide gap to run into down main st.

Tamou had an opportunity but got a big dont argue from NRLs journeyman.Effort...

Maybe if we could find a way to be not defending so much we would be in a better position. It was poor options in the halves and a non exisitant gameplan that killed us.

and it's almost guaranteed that he'll have a another failure the following week, this is what many fans feel after seeing many years of him.

**The media is going full alarmist on the Tigers this week and half of you are going with them. Now it's alarm bells because Joey was critical of Brooks' game and Chammas has got wind we're working on the Hastings deal that we've been working on for some 6 months.**

It's not alarm bells losing to two competition heavyweights first two weeks. It's not good reading but can absolutely be turned around. This media stuff is becoming a beat-up because, again, it helps to sell papers and drive these click-bait narratives around popular clubs.

Where is the hullabaloo around Manly or Cowboys or Broncos or Dragons?

Someone mentioned Chammas has close connections to the club, so why is this latest article out? If this is coming from the club then why now when the team are down and out and already feeling the pressure?
Or have I simply misinterpreted, and not all Tigers related stuff he prints is directly from us.

I know there's been some worrying signs in our first two performances but it also makes the club look noncomitted to their plans. Not saying there's anything wrong with having a Plan B but because it's only 3 weeks in it looks like a knee jerk reaction or another possible bandaid solution.
Or can someone confirm if it hasn't been decided on a whim as suggested by other reports.

I'd wager it's probably coming from the manager. I have been previously informed that most of what you read in the paper is driven by player managers, who want to manoeuvre on behalf of their client. For example the Rabbitohs stuff around Reynolds - they aren't driving that, Reynolds' manager is.

Thinking logically, the club doesn't really have anything to gain by publishing a desire to bring Hastings over - it only serves to undermine confidence in Brooks. So then Tigers have to make some comment along the lines of "we have completed faith in Brooks, this is more an attacking lock acquisition".

As to only being 3 weeks in, Tigers have been in discussions with Hastings for months, so there's nothing recent about it. I was informed directly from the club that we were interested but Wigan were not entertaining a release and Hastings was about to board a flight home, so there was nothing more Tigers could do for now. Something may have happened since; the player himself may have made in-person requests with Wigan to return home; Wigan may have reached out to Tigers to make a deal happen.

I'll also add that when the club does have information to put out there they tend to share around who they release to, as it doesn't pay to favour one journo to heavily. I think Read had the story about Tamou signing and the reasons behind it. I believe that was a story the club wanted in the public domain.

So then Tigers have to make some comment along the lines of "we have completed faith in Brooks, this is more an attacking lock aquisition".

Thankyou @jirskyr.
Yeah hate seeing us in the media spotlight in any troubling times. Usually the only good that comes from it is that it unites the fans.

Who’s next Todd Carney? Julian O’Neill? Hoppa?

Danny Williams. He brings some mongrel.

Well at least we’d have an identity

I'll also add that when the club does have information to put out there they tend to share around who they release to, as it doesn't pay to favour one journo to heavily. I think Read had the story about Tamou signing and the reasons behind it. I believe that was a story the club wanted in the public domain.

I like Brent Read, find he goes to bat for the club especially when others are simply using us for click bait.
